Why Sum Function Returns 0 in Excel

If SUM function keep returning 0 even after changing the cell formats to numbers, then watch this 1 minute video to learn how to fix it.

Unfortunately, the SUM function still doesn't work even after changing the cells formats to number. So, you need to use a function called "NUMBERVALUE" to convert the values to numbers.

I have this issue too. But if I add my cell with a value in the cell and need to include an empty cell ( for future use as it my hold a value later) the return answer is #VALUE!. So how can I include empty cells. For example =NUMBERVALUE(R11+S11+T11+U11+V11) Were V11 is empty returns the error.
