I would also love to see a native Hawaiian faction or a second kingdom of Hawaii where a person calling themselves the Great Kamehameha tries reconquering the islands under his rule. sorta like Caesars legion but Hawaiian

What's even crazier with Fallout is that we've never got a Mid-West/Southern game. There's tons of ideas to go with, and the insane amount of actual military bases around these states could mean a VERY prominent Enclave and Brotherhood presence.

I’ve always wanted to see Fallout Hawaii, but that’s mainly because I grew up there when the Feds started to invest in continuity of Government installations for if the ‘mainland’ got nuked. One of the largest supercomputers is on Maui, away from Pearl, and has a lot of similarities to some of the ZAX units seen in Fallout. I think the basic setup described here would work, where perhaps Oahu was a wasteland similar to the mainland, while the player character could start in the central islands that were mostly spared and run by a mysterious figure known as ‘The Governor’ (basically a variation of John Henry Eden using the same software). This could have been where the Enclave’s oil rig had their farms and factories, which continue to operate off of old directives that make no sense and no one can seemingly change. The island of Hawaii, the Big Island, could be a volcanic wasteland destabilized by the nuclear world, and if you can get past the natural hazards contains an isolated intellectual community at the old Mauna Kea Observatory that could play a role in stopping The Governor. Exploring the ruins of Oahu would make sense for trying to locate old technology. Similar to the Molokai Leper Colony, perhaps in Fallout the island was used to keep eyes away from failed FEV experiments pre-war that over time have transformed the local population into super mutants that occasionally use outrigger canoes to raid nearby islands. Kauai could have been taken over by the neighboring natives from Ni’ihau that in real life practice sustainable living and could have allowed the locals to maintain some resemblance of society in a technologically adverse way. Could be interesting if perhaps some Chinese ships sailed to Hawaii after the nukes, passed these Kauai locals on the way to Oahu, realized the war was lost, and went back to Kauai to join this community. That only leaves Lanai, which in reality is a mostly private island so it could be interesting in Fallout if the owner was perhaps the CEO of Vault Tec that had his own mini-vault, a GECK was deployed, and the descendants of these corporate elite have an uneasy alliance with The Governor. Beyond all that, I think one of the best aspects of a Fallout Hawaii is the natural means of monetizing such a game; story DLC can be additional islands with new factions and lore.

These are great ideas. How about these:
-Pearl Harbor is just called "Pearl."
-The Battleship Missouri has survived, and though it is immobile, it's huge cannons are still operational. Either it is already controlled by a faction, or the player can take the ship over and restore its cannons to operation through a series of missions. The cannons can be used for fire support, like the mortars you could build in the towns of Fallout 4.
-Your idea for having a ship is awesome. The player should be able to customize it and to store his loot there. Maybe you can even have multiple ships of different types and pay to keep them docked at one or more settlements.
-The people living on the Big Island use geothermal power. It's convenient since there's a big volcano there.
-Before the bombs fell, when WWIII was purely conventional, Chinese subs secretly landed spies and troops at one or more places in Hawaii to sabotage the U.S. war effort. Evidence and remnants of that force are still there.
-The Enclave controls one of the smaller Hawaiian islands (maybe Midway). They went there because it didn't get a nuclear bomb hit or significant fallout exposure, so the plants and animals there never mutated. Maybe they have a creepy 1950s town built there as their idealized vision for what they will someday make America back into.

I always thought fallout should add kaiju or giant monsters. While not in Hawaii, real life nuclear tests were done in the several Polynesian islands near Hawaii. This of course, was inspiration for characters like Godzilla. So having giant monsters come out of the ocean like a raid bosses and having to defeat them with a base or army could be cool. Bonus points if we can make our own giant robots like Liberty Prime to defeat them.

Fallout Hawaii? Sounds like a super cool idea and would give us a new world to explore, especially with boats. A game with navel elements like sailing ships and maybe even navel warfare. And if each island has a different group/city would also be cool to see and experience. And the whole underwater thing would be so cool to explore and fight in underwater conflict, both enemy factions and irradiated mutant creatures.

I could see the gameplay being a mix of Fallout 4 and Farcry 3. The player traversing the island, killing animals (and people) for materials and possibly helping to create settlements for their vault (perhaps the underwater vault is beginning to flood, and so they're sending you to create a safe settlement for the vault to evacuate from, maybe we could even bring back the classic timer from f1)
Along the way, you're captured by pirates and either join them or are forced to flee. From there, the world is your oyster

I could see a Fallout: Hawaii having a strong Enclave presence due to the Oil Rig. The Enclave at Hawaii would be in radio contact with the Oil Rig, but wouldn't have any transportation methods available, so the Oil Rig told the detachment at Hawaii to not let anybody on the island. The Islandclave obey orders and repair their own transport ship in the meantime to evacuate the island. Due to pirates and severe lack of metal, progress is slow and not very efficient. They have lots of guns and power armor, but scrapping it all wouldn't yield nearly as much metal as they need, so they arm pirates in exchange for shiploads of scrap and sheet metal.

    • @FelixValentiCh.
      @FelixValentiCh. 8 місяців тому

I came up with this idea of a post-Enclave US military faction called the Vanguard made up of survivors from the Oil Rig, who made use of their navy to settle on the islands and one of the larger conflicts of the game would have been between themselves and the true Enclave Remnants who followed Richardson’s FEV genocide ideas; the Vanguard being on the losing end and willing to grant membership to ‘muties’ and seeing them as Americans as long as they pledged allegiance. The Vanguard would be the West Coast version of Autumn’s Enclave from 3 in terms of ideology- they definitely wouldn’t be “good guys” but out of any other faction they’d yield the best results

Imagine this…the beginning cutscene slowly fades in, we see an old decrepit radio as it slowly sparks to life. “I’m so lonesome I could cry” by Elvis Presley starts playing as it slowly zooms out, revealing some kind of abandoned, destroyed bedroom, there are decrepit suit cases sprawled about the floor, and the ancient skeletons of once living people, the skeletons still dressed in the old dirtied, tattered clothing of prewar times. As the song plays, the camera slowly zooms out revealing the room has a giant hole in it’s wall. We zoom out of that hole to reveal that we were in some kind of destroyed, abandoned hotel. We zoom out more, the camera now moving over open water. Once the camera finally zooms out all the way, we’re looking at a dark, rainy place, with very slight signs of light shining through the dark clouds above, and we see….the town of Hilo Hawai’i, in ruins, but signs of life, as if people were trying to repurpose the decimated town for a settlement. The cutscene ends on that last line from the song “I’m so lonesome, I could cry” then cuts off.
As a native Hawaiian, I have given a lot of thought on how a Fallout Hawaii would be like.
For instance I’ve made up a good portion of land mutants as well as aquatic mutants. Like The Rad-Runner Boar which is a giant mutated Hawaiian boar that can vary in size depending on Age. Or a Man-Eater Toad, a mutated Kane Toad. Or even a Green Tarbo; Mutated Madagascar lizard. Saw-Jaws too; mutated termites. Or even a Brush Devil; Mutated Mongoose. I’ve got a bunch of aquatic mutants but we won’t go into that

3:04 Kauai, the Garden Island, is home to wild boars.

    • @chemputer
      @chemputer Рік тому +2

I mean if you want to get technical, bizarrely Seattle is the closest US city to China, though I guess Attu is closer, but not exactly populated/developed. Obviously it depends on what part of China you are talking about, as it's a very big country and isn't uniformly populated. He said Hawaii is the closest US State to China, which is _technically_ true, but only if you're talking about the whole state, I mean yes part of certain States may be closer but the state itself is not. Plus Hawaii has a significant naval base and permanent military presence.
And in any case, Guam (not a State but a US territory) has a significant naval base and is closer by far than either. It's small enough though that I don't know why China wouldn't just send the few nukes necessary to essentially glass it.
Same with Hawaii, really, like are we assuming they sent very accurately targeted nuclear bombs that just hit key military infrastructure and also aimed for the fleet but left most of the rest of the islands mostly intact? That seems rather odd to me.

Considering the next Fallout game is going to at least a decade away. As well as all the little cheats developers can use such as shrinking the size and creating loading screens between islands on top of in this case most of Oahu being underwater, I reckon it would be manageable.

@TheOmegaInitiative IMO, I kinda have an underrated idea for my hypothetical 'Fallout: Paradise' (aka Fallout game set in Oahu) thing. I kinda envision that Oahu was struck not by a regular nuclear bomb, but experimental 'cobalt bombs' which has less explosive damage but pack more radiation. Means the landscape is actually still quite green! ... But that don't make it any better or actually, it's worse in some regards. Though the issue is how tf is the FO3/FNV engine gonna render lush green tropical forests. Even Oasis in FO3 was kinda pushing it.

You're asking way too much and being way too ambitious here. Especially from Bethesda. I know they've made a name for themselves for their map size, but in recent years, the actual gameplay density of their maps have taken a huge hit and they know it and their fall in reputation because of that. Really, they should go more the Deus Ex route and focus first on gameplay density THEN worry about map size rather than focus on map size AND THEN find things for the player to actually do aside from just traversing a bunch of negative space. It's not a coincidence that New Vegas, the most well regarded game in the franchise, actually has a smaller map than Bethesda would have given it and is the most Deus Ex in terms of gameplay design. I'm telling you. Other people are telling you. Oahu by itself is PLENTY big as the setting for a mainline game all on its own. You just need the right story to tell, and your story, while interesting, just isn't it from a purely technical standpoint. Sorry.

@@VunderGuy You need to keep in mind that the next Fallout game is at minimum a decade away. The Elder Scrolls 6 hasn't even started development yet, and Bethesda has said they'll begin work on Fallout 5 once ES6 has released, I would guess that each game will take around 7 years each.

If we're gonna get a Fallout game in Hawaii, my one request is to include the USS Missouri as either the command center for the remaining US military forces, flagship of what's left of the US Pacific fleet, or some other capacity. I'd like to see the Mighty Mo' in a similar capacity as Bethesda originally intended for Captain Zhao and the Yangtze in Fallout 4 except it's been combined with Minutemen artillery due to her various gun batteries and if she has her missile complement as well, oho boy, the Enclave is gonna have a bad day if I have some bunker busting cruise missiles at my disposal.

Idea for video: What if the NCR tried to retake Hoover Dam? This could be a bit off a miniseries going over the three other possible endings after NCR defeat. I would say spare the factions that you can ignore (yes man being BOS) destroy the ones you need to destroy (Legion and House being BOS) and align with the factions that you can (Boomers, Great Khans, Enclave etc). Because I think it would make sense for the NCR to try to retake Vegas after it gains independence and it would be interesting to see factions like the BOS (assuming they would even help the Courier) work with the Great Khans.

One thing I would switch a little bit with the story, if it is 50 years later, it would seem that most surfers, (young people in their 20s) would still have a remembrance of pre war America and not be as primitive as described, being around 70-80 years old if they survived that long, and Pearl Harbor might have more defenses due to it being a staging grounds, with more anti air/ missile capability’s reducing some of damage to flagships or carriers, seen as important and of top priority to automated or manual defenses, or, because of its proximity, has a lot of nuclear silos for better first or retaliatory strikes.

My MUCH BETTER, Fallout Hawaii idea:
While I myself haven’t figured out the whole story, from a setting perspective directly correlating to the narrative it's such an easy place to have a familiar but different New Vegas style three way factional conflict with the player potentially acting as a faction into themselves.
The main overworld of the game would be the Island of Oahu, which is the major population center of the Hawaiian Archipelago and capital island of the state where the city of Honolulu and a lot of iconic and stereotypical Hawaiian stuff is located.
One of the factions would be the descendants of the massive amount of military personnel on the island that would be even more massive in Fallout’s world than in real life because Hawaii would have been a vital strategic holding for the war against China. For ease of discussion, let’s just call them the Braddahhood of Steel Guitars. Unlike the Brotherhood of Steel who were all army brats, this faction would be representative of all four main branches and, despite their fanatical militarism, would really be more concerned with maintaining their comfy, pre-war suburban lifestyles which they've actually managed to keep despite the hardships and horrors and lots of duct tape around them. Unlike a lot of Fallout games where basically all the military bases are bombed out ruins, most of them in the game could thusly be inhabited and thriving small to medium towns with maybe a few having been destroyed during the war or else taken by one of the other factions or a natural disaster or two.
The second faction would be a conglomerate of the massive amount of Asian ethnicities in the state led by the Chinese and to a lesser extent the Japanese. You could have a very similar situation to what happened with the Shi in San Francisco in Fallout 2 with defectors from China coming ashore after the apocalypse and mingling with the local Chinese population who was horribly and brutally suppressed and interned during the war. They then allied themselves with the Japanese, who are their technology gurus because of course, and with their combined guile and unusually high-tech and logistics for the post-war period basically bullied the other Asian ethnicities into being tributaries much like China and Japan did to most of their neighbors historically. Looking at you, Korea. After several skirmishes with the Braddahhood of Steel Guitars for control of the island and to avenge past pre-war wrong that were indecisive, and the emergence and threat of the third faction, there’s currently an uneasy truce between this Pan-Asian faction and Braddahood with the Pan-Asian faction basically being an independent trade nation more concerned with making a buck selling the Braddahood a lot of the resources they need to keep their bubble society going and internal politics than geopolitical affairs. To the extent the asians actively is trying to assert dominance outside their sphere, it’s by basically backing and playing both of the other factions against the other and selling them the rope to hang themselves with. Again, just like real life. They would inhabit most of the major urban centers of the island. I’m talking about Waikiki, Pearl City, Waipahu, and etc.
The third faction, and this is the one that truly drives so much of the plot, would be the Native Hawaiian faction who would inhabit the deep mountains, rural areas, and really, really small towns including most of the leeward side of the island. Not much really needs to be said. They’re a band of unusually well armed, coordinated, and themed tribal raiders led by a courageous, charismatic, and smart military leader with not a lot of tech on their side but a lot of tribal traditions, ruggedness, will to power, and dudes with really big muscles that are basically deathclaws in melee. In the recent past, they led a popular uprising against the Braddahood and Pan-Asian faction that, though failed, established them as their own unique nation on the island and took quite a bit of effort to stop with multiple of the Bruddahood’s and Pan-Asian’s towns, villages, and outposts being lost. Unlike Ceaser’s luddite obsessions however, the native Hawaiian faction really, really, really just want their native lands back after centuries of not having dominion over them and they don’t particularly care how or by what means they do it so long as the job’s done and no more Haole’s dominate them on their own soil. So basically, the opposite of Caesar’s Legion when it comes to tech, even though they are still the low-tech faction because they really just don’t have the means because those means are tightly controlled by the other two on an island roughly the size of two New York Cities. What they do have, however, what really makes them stand out is that they’ve somehow achieved the Master’s Vision and perfected infusing humans with the FEV in a way where they have all the benefits of the virus, like being super strong and resilient to radiation and what have you, with none or minimal drawbacks, primarily the severe intelligence dip and the inability to breed. So basically, they’re a society of the supermutant equivalent of daywalkers, all the intellect and ability to reproduce and establish and maintain a functioning society as humans with the incredible physical abilities of super mutants. A combo that combined with them making up a plurality if not outright majority of the island’s population makes them highly dangerous despite lacking the technological and industrial prowess of the other factions. That and their plot to basically do the most stereotypical mad scientist thing you would do in a Fallout Hawaiian setting, somehow use earthquakes, tsunamis, and volcanoes to destroy your enemies that also somehow probably involves the underground and underwater detonation of at least one massive nuke.
Aside from that, the only other narrative setting element I can think of is having the player character be a complete outsider whose ship just happened to sink off the coast of Oahu during the start of the game with him being a castaway that washed up ashore. To really lay into the blank slate trope games like to use, you could even use the much maligned trope of the amnesiatic protagonists that, while overplayed, would make a lot of sense and streamline things since Fallout Hawaii would basically be its own little world unlike most of what we’ve seen with not a whole lots of direct connections like we see between Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas and Fallout 3 and Falout 4. That or you could do a very unFallout thing and go full Dragon Age: Origins with the player character being from one of the three major factions and then somehow getting roped up into the main plot from there.
Also, as DLC or the single player equivalent of instances you might find in MMO’s, you could have the other, less populated island be locations as well. With the island of Niihau being particularly ripe for opportunity because its known as the Forbidden Island/Isle because you famously need an invitation to go there which has lead to it being the subject of many fun and exploitable urban legends and mystery you could play with. In fact, it's such a good and obvious choice that I kind of think it should be somehow incorporated into the vanilla game plot. Like maybe it was the site of the first clandestine government FEV experiment that allowed FEV to be successfully bonded to human subjects in the first place but then the war happened and it was abandoned until the Native Hawaiian leader guy discovered it and its secrets and began using it to manufacturer the FEV variant he’s using to make his people super mutany, thus making it a prime target for a set piece naval invasion assault level if the player decides to side with the other factions like D-Day except the landing ships get stuck in the Coral. So, like the Pacific Campaign of World War 2.

The Enclave was originally based off of California and had bases all over America, so it would be feasible for them to have an operational base in Hawaii
