Shia demographics: a people in decline?
In this lecture, Dr Sayyed Rehan Naqvi explores the Shia demographics worldwide, illustrating that Shia communities are not insignificant minorities but rather significant minorities in various parts of the world. He emphasises that the importance of a community is not determined by its numbers, but by its progressiveness.
The lecture delves into the Shia diaspora in the West, focusing on three key aspects: religiosity, intra-community interactions, and inter-community interactions and social influence.
This discussion is framed in light of a hadith from Imam Ali (as), who identified four factors that contribute to the decline of nations: neglecting the fundamentals, adhering to trivial matters, promoting the lowly, and sidelining the virtuous.
Dr Naqvi also highlights one essential keyword that drives progress within communities: Obedience (Ita'ah) to Allah (swt).
The lecture concludes with historical accounts of the events that took place on Ashura in Karbala and a poignant eulogy for Abbas ibn Ali (as)

Mashallah shiekh. The content of this talk especially, pertaining to lack of Quran in our community and our lack of visibility and unity in public, is something i've been talking about for years with my extended family.
Unfortunately there is too much emphasis on relatively trivial things such as what food to cook, excessive azadar and latmiya but hardly do we see focus on Quran. This is one of the reasons why ive avoided the masjid during Muharram.

@@SayyedRehanOfficialSalam alaikum been Muslim for 23 years and Shia for 17. What gets me is the racism from some shias like if you don't like black people you might as well throw the last six imams away. Just saying.

i agree respectduly there is lot of superficiality in sunni speaker but shias are still going towards them

Thanks for bringing such topics to the forefront. Most speakers are afraid to do so. I think most Shias (not all) seem to have taken only part of Hadith Al Thaqlain, i.e The Ahlul Bayt as part and forgotten / ignored the first part - Quran. I wonder what could be the reasons for it ? Is it easier to relate to human beings rather than the word of God in a book ? Still the Shias need to increase their knowledge of the Quran to a great extent .

Alhumdulliah Shia are growing across the world. In Virginia, USA I see in Ramadan and Muharram Shia Masajid are full to the extent people are standing outside in 95 degree temperatures these days.

Hate speech is a fancy term used to confuse people and limit or eliminate tabarrah from our majalis.
Salam I got some issues that really didnt add up first and foremost is the hatespeech: does that include tabbarah on umr and others or is it the hatespeech amongst our own community like some allama nowadays blame other allama to be an MI6 or CIA agent.. im confused.

Any speech that hurts other believers and turns those people away who could have otherwise found the truth through the majlis of Imam Hussain (as) is a hate speech. You are strongly recommeded to kindly watch the lecture by Dr Sayyed Rehan Naqvi from the same series titled "Shia, Sunni, or Rafidi: what are you and why?" as that lecture is a classical example of what does not constitute hate speech while presenting the Shia point of view logically.

1-Many academics and very learned Shia Ulema has mentioned the event of a Nikah/ of Hz Qasim (as) in their books. So, clearly his research is biased.
2: Many of our Azadari rituals came from Iraq not every rituals is copied from Hindus. The jaloos of Mehndi /Henna, taboot, alam Tazia, tabarruk and much more is still part of Azadari rituals in all the holy cities of Iraq (see it yourself on UA-cam videos) or do a ziarat trip to holy Karbala from the night of 7 to 13 of Moharram.. When Shia Ulemas from Hind travelled to / from the holy cities of Iraq, they introduced and established these rituals in their respective communities . visit Holy Karala on Ashura to witness how closely indo -pak Azadari rituals match/influenced by iraqi culture. Iraqis also commemorate Mehnid/ perhaps on the night the of 8th Muharram.
