This movie has such a raw frankness to it... I felt all the hairs on my arms stand on end when I saw this scene for the first time.. such an amazing movie about forbidden love
The music (Gabriel Yared) the writer (Marguerite Duras) the reality, cruelness, tenderness and erotism of the story, the director (Jean-Jacques Annaud) the photograph, she... he, everything about this film is perfect
Not possibly, it is, but also the most beautiful and the most heart breaking, even the theme tune L'amant makes me cry everytime I hear it - stunning, greatest movie ever, and this scene is breathtaking, wow!
I have heard of this very strange, controversial movie. I never watched it and thank God I didn't. All I can say is at time 1:12, she is definitely thinking "senpai notice me!" (Most people who have watched Japanese anime would understand what I am talking about. XD) To people who do not understand the phrase "senpai notice me" according to Google, it means that "senpai is upperclassman or someone one looks up to. This phrase is quite common in anime which has a school background. It is generally used when someone wants another student (who is older than them) to notice them or acknowledge their presence."
It's been decades since I've watched this movie and this scene, along with the soundtrack always makes my heart melt.
It's so real
Sept 28th 2020 and it's on Prime streaming.
Time to watch it over and over until it goes away.
I haven’t seen this film in prolly two decades, but I think I’ll buy it tonight.

I absolutely love this movie! ❤ And the soundtrack is just fabulous!
Perhaps THE most erotic and underrated mainstream movie ever made.

The soundtrack of The Lover remind me of Lolita's soundtrack... some notes are similar
