Wait, the concept and design were inspired by the book "Demian" by Hernan Hesse, this was the album "Wings" (2016) that was before reaching the era of "Love Yourself" (2017-2018). Black swan is from the current album "map of the soul: 7".
The storyline and themes seem to be ongoing. You saw that the Smeraldo blog has been updated? The boys are definitely not done telling the story, MOTS:7 has elements/symbols going back to the story.

Apparently we can get a Jimin intro as he exchanged umbrella in fake love trailer and was Dorothy in the narration. BTS also recently danced with umbrellas so there is something about them.
Allen’s frustration with Alex not knowing names can be calculated by the number of donuts 🍩 he’s having to consume to get through the BST MV.
At the beginning of each MV they show the date of when the MV was made.

This was the era when Jimin was on a strict diet (eating once a day for 10 days), he almost fainted while shooting this MV. Jin had been eating two packs of chicken breast a day for a year (On an interview, he said he had gotten malnourished during this time) Hence most of the members look skinny and different, aside from their make-up (eyeliner) which has a huge impact on their looks. Suga gains and loses weight easily.
Black Swan: It is about an artist’s fear to losing his love to his passion or craft. If that happens, it resembles death to him.
Blood Sweat and Tears: is about giving in to temptation (wanting more)

WINGS era came before LOVE YOURSELF era every era is an album or trylogy. Wings had two albums: 1.Wings 2. You never walk alone.
Then came Love yourself era wich had three albums: 1. LY Her 2. LY Tear 3. LY Answer.
Then comes 1. Map of the soul PERSONA 2. Map of the soul 7 (current album).

I really appreciate that you guys have taken the time to understand the storyline. Though to be honest, for the longest time, I didn't even know there WAS a story line. I too watched the videos out of order ( I also didn't know there was an order) and I just thought that some of the videos had common elements. If you miss something or mix something up, it's all good.
If you want to get to know them better, you could try watching some of the funny videos others have suggested. I personally don't care for the ones that are mainly about them in America because a lot of the humor in those relies on many of them not knowing English perfectly and to me it's admirable that they speak any English at all. I really enjoyed their Carpool Karaoke episode with James Corden. It's also helpful that they are sitting in a car so they aren't moving around much. Lol

@@Amicy no problem! And don't feel pressured to understand the whole story line. BTS would want you to understand and take in the message they have in each of they're songs. The storyline is just a way for fans to have fun with the music and make theories. I'm also army and I will admit I honestly don't fully get it. I'm just here for the music and the members😊

I feel like some artists forget why they loved doing music in the first place and let fame get to their heads. Others are in it for the fame and they get lost in it, and then there are others that never wanted fame to begin with but were kind of forced into it because that’s what music brings, fame. Idk if I explained myself right but it makes sense in my head lol.

It's so interesting that ya'll are recognizing how Jimin was lacking in the other videos because he really was not getting that much camera time in older MV's. It wasn't really until later on until you really see him more and I'm so here for it!
Just so you guys know the year videos were dropped doesn’t dictate the story line because they did a lot of things out of order. This means a video made in 2017 in the storyline could come before a vid made in 2016. There are videos where fans had already put the videos in order if you look up BTS story line in order.

Basically,Jin is the main actor for BTS,most videos are focused on him & he's a pivotal character.The WINGS Era came before the LOVE YOURSELF Era and Blood Sweat & Tears is from the WINGS ERA.
It is based on the book Damien by Herman Hesse.
At the beginning of the MV Jin is looking at a painting & he seems mesmerized by it,the painting is called THE FALL OF THE REBEL ANGELS by Peter Bruegel and it's basically about how the rebel angels were removed from heaven.
In the MV there is also another painting the LANDSCAPE WITH THE FALL OF ICARUS...this painting can be seen at the point where V jumps & falls down.If you look closely you can see Icarus in the water on the right side of the painting. In Greek mythology,Icarus was the son of Daedelus the master craftsman.They attempt to escape from the Island of Crete & Daedelus makes wings made of feathers & wax for his son.Icarus flew too close to the son & the wax melted therefore falling to his death.
There is also another painting in the video at the point where Jungkook is 'floating'..the painting is called THE LAMENT FOR ICARUS which is a painting by Herbert James Draper & it depicts a dead Icarus surrounded by grieving nymphs.This whole music video is pure art.
When RM starts the narration,we are shown Jin letting go of a balloon & tries to reach out to it only to realise it's too late.This symbolises the loss of his innocence as a youth.
Now the statue at the end of the vid that Jin kisses represents a fallen angel.When he's walking towards it we're shown a 'curtain' being lifted to reveal that V is indeed the fallen angel and he's been trying to tempt Jin to accept the evil (he's been successfull in tempting the others that's why V is constantly looking at Jin & he covered Jin's eyes).Once Jin kisses the statue we're shown V looking behind & smirking & he has wounds that symbolise where his wings were. So Jin is basically giving into temptation to accept both Light & darkness.

Would you guys be into watching non-music video BTS related content between your usual storyline reactions? Because I think seeing them outside of MVs, hearing their speaking voices etc would really help with identifying and getting to know each member. Might also break things up ?? I can literally see how hard yall are concentrating on deducting each detail lol (SAME) and I don't want u to stress 😭. May I suggest 2 iconic videos to react to -
"BTS moments that butter my croissant" and "BTS moments that toast my buns" by kooflex these are easy and fucking legendary within the fandom and you don't need to know all the in-jokes to find it funny 🤪🥰
you can easily watch every MV they released in order in their own channel, the story line is plotted through those anyway (starting in The Most Beautiful Moment in Life [HYYH] pt 1); you can also throw the explanation videos after if you like (you can go to xCeleste - she's perfect for the story line, DKDKTV - they're perfect for korean and cultural explanations, or Bookish Theory - she goes well into the art and literature side of things)

The Bangtan Universe really began in their mvs in 2015 with I NEED U and Run. Blood Sweat and Tears came out in 2016 in their Wings album. During the time Wings came out, the Wings short films were also released and the "Live Trilogy EP III Trailer" was just a trailer for their upcoming tour at the time. (BTS used to label their tours as "trilogies") Of course they've released other songs with mvs along the way that do not connect with the BU. Songs such as Dope, Fire, Save Me, Not Today, or Mic Drop that all have choreography centered music videos don't connect to the BU.
Also Black Swan was released early 2020 so that song is newer and does not connect with these mvs. The meaning behind that song is about the fear of losing your passion and the music video is inspired by the film, Black Swan.
Also as Allen said, the lyrics to all the songs involved with the BU do not correlate to the actual story, so you won't find any clues in the lyrics.
However, the music video for Blood Sweat and Tears was inspired by the story of Demian by Hermann Hesse. So while the Wings short films completely ARE part of the BU, the only real things I personally can pick apart from this music video in particular that ties into the BU is JIN breaking and the flowers that are seen with him that are always reoccurring. Also, I'm not sure if this is on the playlist you guys are following but the Japanese version of the blood sweat tears music video is completely different and definitely follows the story more.
Also since you guys are curious about when each song or video came out, here's just a brief history lesson lol:
BTS has tended to make their albums in trilogies. From 2013, when they debuted, to 2014, they released 3 albums (2 Kool 4 Skool, O!RUL82?, and Skool Luv Affair) these were part of the "school trilogy". These focused on the problems that teenagers faced, oppression and the corrupt school system.
Then in 2015 they had the "Youth" trilogy with their albums "The Most Beautiful Moment in Life" pt1 & 2. This is where I Need U and Run came from and they discussed coming of age topics.
Now getting past their rebellious and growing up stages, we get to 2016 where they released Wings, which again is based on Demian and its themes on temptation.
In 2017 through 2018 we now get to the "Love Yourself" series. Here you will see the Highlight reels, which are major BU story points, Euphoria and Fake Love.
In 2019-2020, they then started the "Map of the Soul" series which is based on Carl Jungs theory of psychology. These held Persona, Shadow, and Ego, which you've reacted to already. However, songs such as those really relate more to the concept of Carl Jung than to the storyline.
I feel as if Fake Love was one of the last music videos that held storyline plots, because starting during the Love Yourself series, they began releasing "Notes" in their physical albums that served as "diary entries" for the boys' characters in the BU that help you understand the progression of the story. Also in 2019 they released an entire book of just those diary entries called "The Notes1". In the same year they also released the webtoon, Save Me. That's basically like a whole comic of the storyline somewhat so far and it makes things so much clearer. Of course I wouldn't recommend reading the the webtoon until after you're done watching all the video stuff.

J Hope choreographed his dance in Boy Meets Evil. They had a hard start and they stay grounded by remembering what it took to get to where they are. They are just amazing people, and they appreciate their fans. I went back and watched their debut live performance and was amazed how their fans were there cheering them on and supporting them. ARMY literally were with them from the beginning.
I reckon tho, that even if they’re not in order and you’d seem some out of the list that eventually when coming around to them again in the list that you’d be able to pay attention more to other details and pick up more from what you’ve seen~? But I get the confusion... you may still feel that going through the whole timeline tho until watching the end when you watch the explanation videos LOOOL. But you did get some of it in the last video that had me all *surprised pikachu face* 😂 but well... good luck boys! 😂✌🏾

I think they remain humble even they're so big now because they start with nothing I mean they struggles a lot in their early days, that's why theyre so down to earth cause they experience the worst before the best, and that's what we love about them they're not taking advantage of their popularity instead they use that as a way of helping us to improved and developed our selves for the better.

Story Time... I'm a bit late for this comment and I'm sure you've read others like it, but this is a theory that some ARMYs have that connect to the "Blood, Sweat, and Tears" MV. This MV focuses on the temptations of this world, such as lust, greed, envy, etc. And the boys are imprisoned by their temptations or trapped within this darkness. Basically, it's hurting/killing them, and it's difficult to run away from it. However, Jin possibly helped save them when he kissed the statue. He set them free from their temptations. However, when he did, he ended up sacrificing himself, which is why Jin's face was cracking at the very end.
Remember that this is only a theory. No one really knows the real story behind it, but this is my favorite theory so far. Maybe it'll help give you some ideas. I'm happy that you chose to take this journey with the rest of us ARMYs. 💜💜💜
P.S. I love that Alex can tell the difference between members by their lips. 😂🤣 But honestly I was the same way when I first started. Don't lose faith, Alex. You'll catch on eventually if you keep working hard and study their faces in your own time. Also, I'm proud of Allen for being able to learn so quickly. He on point so far.

They stay humble because of what they've been through. They didn't forgot where they started (unlike the other artists). When they're starting, they didn't just learn about music like singing, dancing, and rapping. They also learned what life really is (Attitude). They learn how to be a good person that even you're already in the top you have to stay humble. (I already seen all of their videos from american hustle life-bon voyage-run bts-etc) and if time comes and you two will also see that, you'll understand😊
They are humble because of their roots and culture. Even when they were getting popular they had hardships and haters on their back. They almost broke up in 2018 because of the way they were treated. They stayed together for only two reasons - their love and support of each other and Army backing them to reach even higher. Which they did in 2019? Army is strong just for them.

just to make it clear this universe the blood sweat and tears one is very metaphorical like Jin kissing the statue is kind of like him making a contract "sealing a deal" with the devil and if you see V had black wings and in bst he just had the scars. and the contract makes him break (jin)
Also black swan is from 2020 whereas bst is 2016

Also the second video is actually a video announcement for their world tour concert in 2017 imagine if this was the trailer announcement how epic the concert would have been! And the concert it was if not the best bts have few of the best concerts but the wings tour literally felt like jumping inside a storybook

The story in BS&T is essentially their conflict between resisting tempatation and giving into it. Throughout the video, you can see each member giving into temptation. From a theory I read earlier, V is convincing Jin to also choose the path of evil. The statue may be referring to something Jin desires. It is much more complex than this - there are even references to Icarus in the video (when V jumps off the balcony, a painting called "Landscape with the Fall of Icarus", is in the background). Just like Icarus flew too high and fell when the sun melted the wax holding his wings together, V too fell into darkness (him falling into water and drowning) after killing his father.

I’m gonna say this politely and respectfully because I love you both and your channel, but Alex please let Allen finish his statements before cutting him off. There’s at least 2 times he didn’t get 2 words out and you completely cut him off. If it doesn’t bother him then I guess do whatever but it bothers me. He wanted to say something about how crisp their dance moves were and you cut him off. It’s rude to me cuz it’s both of y’all’s channel. At this point we can say Allen is a certified ARMY. Allen speak more please, seems like Allen understands more than Alex cause 1) he recognized the members instantly thus he can relate the story easily 2) he noticed things in common in previous stuff they reacted to current one 3) he need more speak time frfr haha
Not that Alex isn't good or anything, Alex speaks from a normal non-army or new army perspectives and I think it's quite entertaining when he got confused or got it wrong haha. Also, he see it as general perspective(the dance the lyrics the visuals), not really focus on the storyline itself which is okay because BTS stuff are related to our general life. So keep it up Alex. I remember how excited I was when I could easily distinguish the members visually and then by their voices. Don't beat yourselves up at all though because it's easily confusing with their hair color changes OR when they all have same tones like all dark. It will be cool when it clicks for you guys because it will seem so simple 😁

What helped me in figuring out the guys from each other was watching color coded lyrics videos. Then I started to see how each one's face differed, because their hairstyles and their fashion styles are changing all the time. Like Jimin has a long face, a flat nose with a slight bump on the bridge that sometimes you can see and sometimes you can't, and flexible jaw and lips. He's good at making faces. RM you can always tell, his is the only round face. Jin you can probably already tell. Jhope has the cheekbones and the baby-shaped lips. Suga is like a baby unless he's not. He's the hardest to tell, for me. Especially cuz sometimes he wears heavy boots that make him look taller than he really is. Suga and Jimin are the shortest. V or Tae you can tell from his mouth and nose. Just pick a few key features. Of course, because of camera angles, and lens distortions or after effects, it's sometimes hard even then. That's when watching choreography performance styles helps. Each guy has strengths and weaknesses in how he dances. If you can learn those, that helps a lot, too. The seriously biggest problem for me is Jungkook through the earlier years. As he is now, he's unmistakable, because of his movement skills and height. But back in the day, sometimes he looked like Suga, sometimes he looked like JHope, sometimes he looked like Jimin.
The symbolic wings may look the same. But they mean different things.
The wings in WINGS is a symbol for breaking out of a shell and finally growing up to reach adulthood.
The wings in black swan is a symbol for accepting your shadows.

okay, so Blood Sweat and Tears was taken from the story Demian from Herman Hesse. technically it's about losing innocence and giving into temptation. so the part in the end that Jin kisses the statue was supposed to be like Jin kissing V (Taehyung) and falling into temptation. the wings were cut off because he's a fallen angel. it's sort of tied into black swan as there's the wings too, but it hasn't been fully explained yet, because Jk also has shadows and symbols of wings in his Wings trailer and in the Japanese version of BS&T.

guys dont worry about watching other recent videos, not all videos are related to the Bangtan Universe storyline so all the other videos you saw, most of them are part of the new era which storyline is Carl's Jung Psychology Theory, thats another era we are in right now. Black Swan is part of this new era. You will get there at one point. You can still react to other stuff don't worry that much about it :)
I've always found, when people tell new reacters to ignore the lyrics, to be very disrespectful to the lyrics BTS have worked hard to write, and very wrong as well. The lyrics, like the music videos, are chock full of meaning and written with intention, not just to be catchy and carry the song along. Do NOT ignore ANY lyrics. While you can't be literal with the words (for example, in I Need U, when the boys sing "I need you, girl", it's not actually a girl to whom they are referring), the words hold great meaning for both the individual song's message, as well as to the greater Bangtan Universe. You simply have to understand that they are being symbolic, and apply the lyrics to the theory growing in your mind. One main rule to go with when reading lyrics is that in this era of BTS and going forward, their songs are (almost) never about a romantic relationship. When there is a female, or reference to a "girl", it's almost always going to be representative of each other, or ARMY, or MAYBE a vague significant other (romantic or otherwise).
But please, please, DON'T ignore the lyrics, and I hope ARMY will STOP telling people that.
