  • Welcome to the latest episode of Big Trip! Today I am at Inverness on the Highland Main Line where services are seen by ScotRail and LNER.
Inverness station is a lovely old station with great architecture but a very large gap inbetween trains. The station is a junction for some very long branch lines to the likes of Kyle of Lochalsh and Wick lasting a while but on lovely traction as well as the Highland Main Line stuff which again can take a fair while to get back on to the main line. The views are fantastic heading out towards Carrbridge as you can view stuff avoiding the station and can see stuff heading into the TMD. This station however I must add is very strict with both passengers and spotters, you need time and patience to be able to gain permission here as they do not let people through the barriers typically until your train is ready however if you ask someone in an orange hi-vis, it should be fine, that's how I got permission. Overall, this was a station I certainly didn't expect to be able to film but I am very happy I have done. It is a recommended station given you follow the advice I gave with permission but also have patience, this station has rather large gaps inbetween trains.
