  • Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley yesterday implored friends, family and colleagues of the late Sir Philip Serrao to remember him “as one of those who stood tall in building this nation and in making lives easier for each and everyone that he could”.
Paying tribute to the late Barbadian patriot at his funeral service at St Mary’s Anglican Church in The City, the Prime Minister said: “This morning I stand not simply out of duty but out of a deep sense of loss for a man who has been a giant literally, in the lives of so many of us and in the institutions of so many across our country.”
She acknowledged Sir Philip’s 15 years of “distinguished, unbroken service” as chairman of the Electoral and Boundaries Commission, as well as his devoted service to the Barbados Labour Party. (Video by Reco Moore)
