    People in the comments: When Susan, the dermatologists she referenced, or even your own doctor says something is "probably fine", that means it is UP TO YOU to decide if you want to take the risk or not, as Susan literally says in this video several times. I dont understand what yall are confused about. 🤨
    Susan literally says there isn't really any science behind ANY of it, because there aren't any tests on actual pregnant women. So it's YOUR decision. If you don't want to take the risk, then don't. It's that simple.

    I’m an RMT and it’s perfectly safe and healthy to get a massage in the first trimester (as long as YOU are comfortable). But you do want to tell your massage therapist as soon as your pregnant and yes find somebody trained in prenatal massage. You won’t have to lay on your back during a massage if your massage therapist is trained in prenatal massage.

    It’s interesting about the aspirin thing, because a lot of pregnant women are recommended to take small dose aspirin whilst pregnant!

      There are studies that show that aspirin does harm to the unborn child. So aspirin should be taken ONLY if you suffer from SERIOUS health issues like pre eclamsia.

    Thank you for this video, please talk about chemical sunscreen during pregnancy! 😕 Feeling unsure if it’s safe or not but I do prefer chemical sunscreen because there’s no white cast.

    I like Susan's reaction videos. It's so good that she chose to dispel previous information. And to share information from dermatologists about certain ingredients. It's also hard to believe that she was pregnant with her daughter that long ago. I still think of her kids as adorable babies. I'm pretty sure they are still adorable though.

    Thanks for this video. I'm not sure how safe a future or a new mama would feel about advice like "it's probably fine to use X" though. If it's not known whether it's safe, why do you say "probably fine"?! I would prefer to know there's science behind it showing it's ok, that it's safe.

    • @Mixedmakeup
      @Mixedmakeup  2 роки тому +40

      The point is, you’re likely not going to get that science since no one is going to test on pregnant women. Most doctors will tell you “it’s probably fine” if there isn’t science to say it would likely be harmful, but you’re given this information so you can make an informed decision and choice.

    It’s so hard to figure out where the line between cautious but not driving yourself crazy is when you’re pregnant. It feels impossible to decide what to do since so much of what’s deemed “probably safe” is purely theoretical since there’s no ethical way to test products on pregnant women and see if they cause birth defects.

    I feel like with skincare it's the same than with alcohol - many people casually drink (and also some smoke) in their early pregnancy days if they don't know they're pregnant yet! But it's usually fine if they stop as soon as they find out. Same with skin care, or let's say food restrictions. Not everyone plans their pregnancy so it's impossible to avoid all the harmful things

    I’m confused about the Ewg comment. I don’t see anything wrong with information, and knowing data behind an ingredient. From there we can make our own choice right? It’s just information imo. Nothing wrong with information.

    Although I morally disagree with IVF….. ivf doctors tell their patients not to wear perfume for a reason. It’s not good for you or your hormones.

    Yes! Skintags! I never had them before pregnancy, but I knew hormones can cause them. I still have some now..

    I noticed that since she started the skincare line, she has been taking a stance on “reviewing” her content or prior recommendations. It seems as if there’s a conflict of interest now, so I’m not sure this information is unbiased.

    • @arianabelegu6608

      That doesn’t even make sense. It would make sense if she was reviewing every past recommendation and replacing them with her own products saying how they’re better.
      But this type of reviewing can’t be nothing but positive. She’s just keeping us up to date with what she has learned since the said video and what has changed.

  • @cristinaiswatching

    Really don’t agree with the “it’s probably fine approach”, not when we have sooooo many alternatives on the market. It’s literally just 9 months in which we can switch it up a bit. Plus, imagine a birth defect really unfortunately happened - it’s most likely not the salicylic acid, but you’d be blaming yourself as a mother - which is definitely not the case, but we do do as human beings.

    LOVE your videos, super informative and interesting. Just wanted to mention that you should consider language of saying “pregnant women” is exclusionary, there are many folx that are pregnant but are trans male, non-binary, or don’t identify as women. Having inclusive language is so helpful, inclusive and a simple thing to change!

    • @user-tq8gh5oz8t
      @user-tq8gh5oz8t 2 роки тому +10

      You should consider that it isn’t helpful to the women who already feel as though they are being stripped of their identity as a woman.
