I own an Ecoboost mustang it has over 92000 miles and I run it pretty hard I think and have never had a problem with the car. It is all original had it tuned up once at 60000 Miles. I think if you modify the car the wrong way that could be the problem. Love my Ecoboost.

Hmm a turbo 4 cylinder sounds different than a v8?? Ya don't say!

My modded ecoboost has 81k miles on it now and has never had any major problems 🤷🏽‍♂️ You’re right, you have to take care of the car. You’re right, it (shockingly) doesn’t sound like a v8. You’re right, not every ecoboost out there is bulletproof and ready for +200hp in mods. The title might as well be “don’t buy an ecoboost if you expect perfection” lol

I've never understood getting a new car and then modding the engine and then complaining when the engine doesn't last. First, if you want more power, get the more powerful engine from the factory. You're spending the money on mods, simply spend the money up front on the bigger engine. Next, every new vehicle has lemons. You can find someone out there that got a new car/truck and the engine blew within the first 10k miles. It happens. Every engine, every manufacturer. That said, you have to know going in that modding ANY ENGINE will lower its life expectancy. And follow the scheduled maintenance in the owners manual. Use the right octane gas. That's all. It's not complicated. You want faster, buy the V8 or something else. Modding is a money pit.

I got the ecoboost mustang and got the Ford pro cal tune for it. After 7,500miles I can say the car is awesome, it handles great, has great pull (tuned), gets great mpg (avg 25mpg) and looks stunning. The car doesn't sound like a typical mustang cuz of the 4banger but I like to think of it as a American take on the 80s-90s import turbo coupes.

I've had my 2017 premium for 3 years now and it runs perfectly. I haven't had any real problems and I have 32,000 miles on it. It's not a V8 and I wouldn't try to make it sounds like one either. It's my daily driver, it looks great and it's a blast to drive. If you want speed, don't mod, just save up and get the GT. I bought a C6 Z51 convertible Vette a few years before I bought the mustang. Honestly, they are both awesome to drive for completely different reasons. Whether it's cost or you don't need the V8, whatever the reason, I do recommend the ecoboost mustang. Just my opinion...

Anytime a small engine like that is boosted by forced air to more than 300 horsepower, it's under a lot more stress and going to be more prone to serious and not-so-serious problems than a naturally aspirated engine. This is especially true if you consider that the Mustang has become a much heavier car than it was many years ago. A boosted engine requires the most diligent maintenance and care. In addition, a turbocharger adds more moving and stationary parts to the engine, and the turbines spin at phenomenal speeds, several times what the engine turns.

Bout to swipe on an Ecoboost! Couldn’t be happier. I’ll get the GT down the line and go all out, but way later. Definitely want to keep my eco stock, just do some physical mods, but that’s it. Not looking for a ton of power. It’s just fast enough and zippy to keep me entertained, and I got it MAINLY for the convertible feature. It’s gonna be so fun

Stock EB, no problems, 24 mpg and excellent performance. People think they know or the aftermarket knows more about how to reengineer the cars for more power. Know what you are doing before you pull the trigger on “mods”.
