Nice one for this bud. I warmed a bit with a torch and they came out in two taps. I would never have known about the circlip.

Hi Simon - just what l do as well ..... pop one of the covers off the bearing and get some more grease in there. Then pop cover back on, put the opened face into the hub.
This was common practice on bikes when l was younger.
Check out a company called 'simply bearings' you can read part no. off of side cover.
Also, if you have a local bearing shop and do similar - cheaper than 'bike' ones.
Good to grease up swing arm and steering stem too!

Hey up A Gee, I usually do that with the bearings, does it really help, who knows 🤔, the swinging arm bearings were done not too long ago, but didn't film it 😲, clutch rubbers next when the parcel arrives 🤭, ride safe, Simon B 👍

Which Heat Torch did you use? 100% next time Cover off bearings and pack with a good Waterproof grease, the bearing will last and last 🙂, great honest video.

Hey up mrdangermouse, as I'm a plumber I used my own blow torch it's a rothenburg super fire 2, yes filling the bearings, does it really make them last longer ? If so how much, it's a good taking point, love to know your experience 😁, thanks for watching and dropping a comment 👍

@@SIMONB1 Pop the seal off, clean the grease out and just fill it with Marine grease (I use Morris K99), I do this every year and can't remember the last time I change a bearing.

Was that washer a hard black plastic piece? If yes it’s a spacer that’s supposed to be installed on the drive (sprocket) side.

Do you not use any cleaning agent , why not

Hey up Cliff, I used brake cleaner to remove grease and dirt from the area where the bearings were seated, is this what you mean ?

Hi Simon. I can’t get the spacers out of front wheel, never mind the bearings. Is there a special tool to get them out?
Is that worth putting in 2 new spacers.
    👍

      @SIMONB1  13 днів тому +1

Hey up J-Mc72, they sometimes get stuck in, use a long screwdriver and knock them out from each side, put a bit of grease in them when you put them back in after you've cleaned them 😁, hope you get it sorted, ride safe Simon B 😎

@@SIMONB1 thank you Simon. Absolute star. It worked. 👍Unfortunately brake/pads disks didn’t arrive in time so no green lanes for me 😞 all that rushing around to try and spend Saturday on the bike and it’s still up on jacks.

I couldn’t see, did your spacer tube sit proud of the other side (so the wheel bearing sits on top of the tube, not being able to sit the bearing onto the shoulder of the hub.
I’ve sent home the circle side to its shoulder of the hub but the tube sits proud of the hub the other side?!?!
