This looks so good! I really expected it to be totally soggy and leak/puddle when you cut it but it really held its shape perfectly. Props to you man, a great idea and flavors seemed perfect.
Have you never had tres leches? Cake will soak up liquid pretty good
@@Tatianarain I’m a woman from South America. Yes I’ve had tres leches and basically lived off of it for a while. :P But when you make a tres leches, you allow everything to absorb into the sponge layers and expect it to be more of a pudding than cake. (That’s assuming it’s a good tres leches anyway.) and therefor don’t serve it just as a regular cake, but in a container that will be able to hold any liquid that escapes. Trifle container, lipped bowl etc. on top of everything, the liquid going into a tres leches is a much different consistency to alcohol. It’s evaporated milk, condensed milk etc. so it’s thicker and makes it more difficult to escape the sponge. (I’m going off of what my mom has told me, she is a baker that specializes in cakes so I’ve heard about it from her)
This was straight up a bottle of liquid right? lol. In the center of a cake. No holes poked in the sponge layers, nothing in terms of preparation for absorption.

Hey, got any ideas for pineapple upsidedown rum cake? I know me and Ma made one helluva boozey one by grabbing what we had to work with in the liquor cabinet. A bit of Kraken baked into it made the cake pretty damn good, we marinated that cake with pineapple rum and cherry moonshine shots for a week after it finished baking, and our glaze had pineapple rum, crushed pineapple chunks, a shot of cherry moonshine, and a bit of sugar in it. The cherries on top of the cake, naturally, came from the moonshine jar.
