This "FRIENDLY SHOOTOUT" is an edited, shorter repost. It's an A/B comparison between the Mark Wood Viper & NS Design (Ned Steinberger) CR 5-String Electric Violins. For the FULL, DETAILED 33-minute VIDEO (with my unscripted thoughts & "ramblings" on pick-ups, feel, similarities and differences + additional playing with pizz/strumming etc.) go to ---> ua-cam.com/video/KCbxgxPIy7Y/v-deo.html
Fantastic comparison, Trevor! I love both violins!!! and you rock on them !Cheers, my friend!🤘🏻🤓🎻
Thank you, Alexey! Glad you enjoyed this. All the best! T
Hard to say, but maybe I liked the viper sound a bit more. But if someone made me a blindfold test, I wouldn't been able to make distinction between the instruments.
To me the viper (clean) sounds more bright, and shimmery vs the NS which sounds dull and flat by comparison.
They are both equally excellent instruments. I originally chose the NS for its diversity (polarity switched pick-up for bowed and plucked playing), pre-amp / tone controls, ergonomic design & look ... but it's like comparing a Strat with a Les Paul - two completely different instruments. I would take both if I could 😁. Also, the Viper has that "heavy Rock look" which is really not me in the diverse styles of music I play ... I talk much more about the similarities/differences in the original full length comparison here: ua-cam.com/video/KCbxgxPIy7Y/v-deo.html
Both sound great but, the Viper sounds better, more depth, sounds like a turbo boosted cello and violin at once. Have watched other shootouts of same instruments and came to same conclusion. Trevor, did the Viper have the Barbera bridge or the Mark Wood bridge?
It had the Barbera Bridge, Norman ... the "twin Hybrid" I believe. Thanks for dropping in! T
Beautiful
Thanks, Gopal. Thanks for dropping in! T
Viper for the win. Rich!
Glad you like it, Sara! They are both equally as good, honestly. Very different instruments ... all the best! T
*You are a violin GOD* .... _when did you sell your soul?_
Thanks, Bring String! Never did sell my soul, but have spent many many hours practicing 👊😎👍. T

Thank you sir trevor
@@marcelescondo2196, you are welcome!
How much this violin cost in india? Is it possible in India?
Not sure ... you may need to import it? T
I feel like the Viper kind of just sounds like electric guitar at a certain point.
Yes you are right, Jordan. Not necessarily the sound for everyone and a little less diverse than the NS, in my humble opinion. Both great instruments, though. T
The Viper wins it for me.
👍 T
You should be comparing a fretless to a fretless or a fretted to a fretted, not a fretted to a fretless.
Good point, Bruce. I just didn't have a fretless viper or a fretted NS on hand. They do sound very similar however. T
@@TrevorDick They do sound rather similar....wild pitch bends & glissandos notwithstanding.
@@bruceglebovitz yes sir! T
