I met Raymond When he came to Morningside H.S back in the early 70s. By himself. He seemed to have a smooth conversation, not aggressive at all towards me.... He was definitely there to draft .

A bunch of juvenile delinquents in 1969 started the Crips. This appealed to the teenagers in surrounding communities. It intensified as these kids began going to juvenile detention and jail.

I always wondered how anyone can say the Crips started from anything positive when all the stories of their founding was based on beating up and robbing people? Even before the rampant killing, people were still being victimized by the children/teens in there own community

Just read Tookiie book. He explained the mindset of Crips in the beginning of its inception. They were just a bunch of teens running wild with no political agenda. Community Revolution in Progress came later in prison with the inception of some of first crip prison gangs like the blue notes

Facts!
The movie bastards of the party tried to make it sound like the crips came from the ashes of the civil rights movement, particularly the US organization and the Panthers.
Donald Archie also claims in one of his videos that the crips Were just young guys that wanted to be known for something and basically rebelled against the evil society of the streets. Bacot also mentions in one of his interviews that they went from being the prey to the predators which also is not true.
The C.R.I.P acronym didn't come about till the 1970s and that was in regards to gang prevention and I believe Raymond's are in jail at the time that came out (please correct me if I'm wrong)

@@fila_arthur That's exactly where it came from. That's the infamous "round table". Rosie Grier got some funding from the city for gang prevention. The crips aren't stupid, they played the game, they knew there was some money involved so they played into it and that's exactly where the crip acronym came from.

Jimmy tells his truth in the way I like everybody to tell their truths, without equivocation, even with someone as revered as the great Raymond Washington (RIP). The temptation for most would be to water down what they believe because Raymond is so beloved by so many and for good reason too! Jimmy hasn't (in my opinion) in his KMV interviews when speaking on Mr. Washington, nor did Craig Munson. To me it adds authenticity. Now, whether or not their POV is true to others? Kev always says folk are enttitled to their own opinion, and he's right. Like a brilliant defense attorney once told a jury, "reasonable minds can differ." Under the statute, Is that killing by the defendant manslaughter or self-defense? To the deceased's family, aint no question--look at the facts-- it's a murder, and to the defendant's family, aint' no question--look at the facts--my boy wasn't doing anything but defending himself.

Jimmy lavender gets a lot of BS because in his first video he stated that Raymond was not a hog that he keeps hearing stories about people claiming Raymond was a hog but in their neighborhood the neighborhood they grew up in Raymond wasn't known as a hog.
Now what a coincidence that the crips weren't started in that neighborhood. Raymond started the crips at Bethune Junior high which is nowhere near Watts or the Florence Firestone area. He started the crips with a bunch of younger guys, guys that were at least two years younger than him and in teenage years 2 years is a lot and that's also the reason why a lot of the guys that started the crips with Raymond branched off and started their own gangs. They started these gangs because they matured and grew bigger than Raymond and he didn't have the influence over them that he wants did. To make a long story short Raymond reinvented himself when he got to Bethune Middle School because nobody was there from the old neighborhood.
You can get all this information by watching Kevs videos. Jimmy lavender's first video babalouies first videos, All the info's there. They specifically talk about that. Just gotta use a little common sense and understand just a little bit about human behavior. It's not hard.
So, much of what stated was and is, incorrect. There's just too incorrect info there that I don't want to do a couple of paragraphs to decipher. But, first off, Raymond grew up in the Florence area. Secondly, Raymond didn't start the Crips at Bethune Jr.High. Raymond was at Fremont when he started the Crips. Do the math. The Crips didn't start until 1969. Raymond was not a hog in our neighborhood. Raymond was just a ruffian amongst ruffians. There were a whole lot of tough guys in the Florence-Firestone community. A helluva whole lot. Raymond just clicked up with certain individuals who would follow or participate with his agenda. Florence-Firestone was and still is "Hog Heaven." And that's from the Bishops, to the whole ECC, to Florence 13, to the Kitchens, to the Family Swans, to Elm St, to Hickory St, to the Avalons, and etcetera. Raymond was not the biggest nor the baddest in the neighborhood. Raymond did have the charisma the leadership ability to entice others to follow.

Thats true everyone from those days have their point of view n are entitled to it ,so much has been said by different people to some he has just a regular guy to some he was a leader to some he was not a hog to some he was ,some say he hated guns some say he used them too , but a fact is known a 15 to 16 year old kid started something that turned into a monster of a gang with thousands of members n followers wanting to join some knew him from the early age some in his late teens some in adulthood but Raymond Washingtons name still lives on
