My first post ever! Living in London UK, I just wanted to highlight the issue about curtsy. Seems a lot of people actually are not aware how these 'rules' apply or even that they actually differs between monarchies. There is a great article online called To Curtsey or not? An American Perspective, quote -
Americans should show respect to other countries' leaders in the same way we do to our own - by shaking hands (when appropriate).
To curtsey is not a sign of respect - curtseying is a form of subservience, which is why you never see the British curtsey to any royalty other than their own.
Hope this clarifies thing a bit!
