@@rebel5813it's 2025, it's still called the dozens in many places here in the USA. And what gen Z tries to do doesn't compare. No strategy whatsoever 😂
George and Helen were also doing those same rhyming insults to each other later in this episode with George finally saying to her, "yo momma." Loved that part!
It's called Throwing The Dozens. Not rhyming insults. Each person gets 6 turns to out do each other. The winner is the person that doesn't have an effective comeback.
Ain't no way in hell Allan could ever beat George at signifying in reality. But of course... they wanted Allan to look like he was on level ground with George in that area.
I like this actor playing Alan better than the one who comes later. This word game "dozens" looks like a boatload of fun. It wouldn't have to be used for insults, you could say something kind with it too. Like "I sure do appreciate the uploads of this show. It gives me more laughs than many other shows I know!"
I thought he looked differnt when I saw him. I never really watched the show but I did know the characters. I remember seen her brother with straight hair, and looking fairer than THIS actor. This one looks half white. with the curls. the second actor, not so much, but did think he was cute. 😁
Yes, and Charles "Jay" Hammer would later make a name for himself on The Soaps. First as Max Dekker on Texas (A Spinoff Of Another World), then from 1985-2000 was Reporter/Newspaper Owner Fletcher Reade on Guiding Light. He got fired but he never paid any ill will. He came back in 2009 before the show went off the air.
He only played in this one episode as Jenny's brother. The guy you're talking about came later on... I think in season 3 or four, and was there for the whole season.
Wonderful episode! Wish they would’ve showed the rest of it. But I understand why they didn’t. Here’s the continuation. ua-cam.com/video/yGbyWN2visI/v-deo.html

That's the premise of the show. It's a spin off from Archie Bunker. But the Jeffersons always touched on the color lines. They even touched on the red lining in black communitues. I think you missed the learning moment. You're mad at Jenny but not mad at Alan for admitting that he initially passed as yt? Elephant ears and chicken neck got me rolling lol 😅😆
1:09 “hey heyy”😂 FELT. Ive always loved that part🤣
I thought Jenny's brother was so handsome the first time I saw this episode!
Me too😊
I loved him and George!😂
The First Battle Rap Jefferson and Jenny's Brother lol
In those days they called it - The dozens. My day we called it Cappin. Way before Gen Z changed the definition.
@@rebel5813 I've always wondered what Kevin Samuels meant when he said "cappin'." We called the dozens "snappin'" or "crackin'" when I was growing up.

@blackCaliGirl661 Never heard of that one, but thanks! Best part of the show!
First actor who played Allan passed away years later
Assorted nuts killed me 😆
And Lionel had to turn around and laugh!

Allan Willis wouldn't be seen until four years later during Season 5 by a different actor Jay Hammer

I didn’t know he could do that 🤣🤣🤣🤣
The first Alan was cool with swag the 2nd Alan acted more like Tom
nah even Tom wasn't as square as Alan no 2.
George figured it out
Wow I thought Jenny was a only child. I missed a lot of episodes
Give me room
George Jefferson says Zebras
The 2nd actor to play Alan Willis, played Fletcher on Guiding Light.
Yep...Fletcher Reade.
I remember watching this when it first came on in syndication
I never seen this Episode, They had a different guy play Alan in the ones I seen with him, This is the Romeo guy from Police Academy
He only played in this one episode as Jenny's brother. The guy you're talking about came later on... I think in season 3 or four, and was there for the whole season.
Omg that is Martin from Police Academy. I never realized
So how did it end?

Wish they would’ve showed the rest of it.
But I understand why they didn’t.

Then I guess I'm rare, because I'm black passing like Jenny 🙃
That was how the creators envisioned George at first; the "black version" of Archie but also more successful.

Why Was Jenny Acting Like This Towards Her Brother ?.😮
He's been passing and their parents never talked about racism with their children.
Thank You 😊

I hated this episode. Jenny being mad she was Black presenting instead of white presenting makes me sick
So that's what Alan meant when he called her jealous? I guess some things never change... plenty of dark-skinned mixed girls feel the same way today.
