you need a plug for the wall to hang something , and you can also close the shutters in the winter for the cold not come in , and in the summer you heve the mosquitoes and the flies :)
When I lived in Norway and UK the houses also had a lot of mold! Mold is something that we see a lot in European countries, it seems that the humidity in Europe has something strange about it.
So what does everyone there typically do for closets? Do they not have clothes? Also - Thank you to the camera person - I didn't get sick! No bouncy camera. Also - why do I miss you living in Korea? 😜 Also - yiu have appliances again! Also - weird way they do electricity there.
@Stuckm.... Portugal has no electricity, no closets, cars, houses are so small that only little people live there! That's Portugal a poor and one of the smallest country in European Union, the continent is called Europe. You're not in the USA, the land of endless dreams where people live in huge houses... I forgot to tell you there are no proper bathrooms, no air condicioning, no central heating. Houses are older than the USA... Portugal one of the oldest nations in Europe, almost 900 hundred years old... people have no smart phones, laptops, Internet... we still live in caves... but if you would like and have 5 million dollars you can buy a less older house but we will never find huge houses similar to the ones in the suburbs all over the USA... Houses are made of concrete, there are a few made of pladur, wood ...it's possible to find them. If you need an average house, why don't you rent a house in Quinta da Marinha in Cascais near Lisbon or in the centre of Lisbon, Avenida da Liberdade, Lapa, Restelo... as I said before this country doesn't suit USA people... so leave Portugal alone, please! Portugal is really an old country with ugly, old, and poor people and houses... that's the truth so find another country like Germany, Denmark, Switzerland, France... just to inform you that it is an old house, build or rebuilt in the 20th century, early '40s, I lived in one in the centre of Lisbon that had been originally built in 1891... By the way, people should do some research... that would be valuable, historic and cultural information ...this is not America... it reminds me of David Bowie's song with the same title, I actually don't remember its lyrics... I'm Portuguese and I can hardly write a full sentence in English. By the way, I never use the Google Translator... Besides Portuguese, of course, my mother language, I can speak German, French, Spanish and Italian just to say that Portuguese lack culture, are unable to speak foreign languages... I had to go to Germany to use a computer, we are so mentally retarded
Boa Tarde, I lived in Atouguia da Baleia (near Peniche), for a few months. The owner is a friend who had just bought the house, and then went to NZ for their summer and so had no experience with the cold weather... I was so surprised at the issue with the electricity capping and the mould... that was a shock. But, loved every moment though. Coming from Canada... winter in Portugal was balmy! You have a lovely space!
Oh my word, Canada!? Even in America, we lived in the south. Born in Houston, Texas and then moved to Atlanta, Georgia. I think Seoul, South Korea was pretty comparable to Atlanta as far as weather. But Portugal has been lovely. I had wondered how we’d do with no heat, but so far it’s been ok!
Even though the house I was renting was much newer than where you are, the heat/dampness/mould was an issue. (I know the house was only a few years old at the time). It seem seem warmer outside some times but as I sit here just recovering from shovelling a new load of heavy snow, I would take Atouguia in a minute any time!
We got an agent! Who’s now one of our best friends! She knows the visa needs for expats too. Got our utilities going, etc. And we had her checking out places all over the country. Poor thing. 🤣🤣 And she was really straight forward. So we told her we didn’t want a car. But then I’d send her some great house in the middle of nowhere and she’d be like…um…🤣🤣🤣 But I highly recommend you get a reputable agent. Especially if you need to get things going without coming here to look around. We came sight unseen. So lots of trust there.
Fortunately I have an EU passport so I can come and look around without getting a visa so I wonder if getting an agent would still be necessary. It might be helpful dealing with the landlord and contracts etc especially if all the that stuff is in Portuguese. I was just going to go through FB or Idealista but getting an agent I'm sure made the process easier/less stressful. Where did you find her?@@millersonthemove8555
Be careful from all that mold that's already on the exterior of the house, you don't want your family to get sick. It becomes very humid over there. Make sure you have a dehumidifier in your rooms and moisture monitor
I almost died from mold inside the a/c system, my neighbour died as our units were connected. I got pneumonia and a decade of mold injuries. Many Portuguese are mold injured and don't know it. Especially those near coast. Its a global problem unfortunately but its important to be aware and take measures to prevent because by God the suffering that comes with it is beyond description. Good luck, wishing you health, peace and happiness@@millersonthemove8555

If you can get aloe Vera plants they also take moisture out of damp rooms
Ahhh good to know!

We had it in Korea too! Crazy.
A eletricidade tem a ver com a potência do contador, se tiver uma potência maior pode ligar tudo ao mesmo tempo. Maior potência maior o preço a pagar.
Sim., tem razao. Tivemos de comprar um contador melhorado!

Hahaha so some places have closets I guess. But for the most part, people buy wardrobes to keep their clothes in!
Omg thank you for the camera compliment! I was filming.

Beautiful area, very interesting! I love the sun! 😊
So much sunlight! We are lucky to have windows in every room!
They deleted my comment 10 minutes ago!!!!!!!!! Is this a youtube channel?
Yes! It’s our UA-cam channel! I haven’t deleted anything. Weird!!!
Not me dying to know what you hid in the office.
I took a screenshot - can't figure it out 😂
Bahahahahaha
How did you find your apartment? I'm moving to Coimbra soon!

Yes. It’s definitely an issue. Mold was pretty common in Korea too because no central air or ventilation there either! It’s a never ending battle.
