Imagine if other flightless birds like the Dodo survived to this day it would be Magnificent to witness 😢
@@user-hx7pd3ys8f wow your so funny what a top class comedian

@@KenuDRoger dodo tasted disgusting according to the sailors who ate them hence the reason they only ate them as a last resort
Not a chance

Takahe chicks are the cutest things ever. I’m proud takahes are still alive not because of the chicks, but just how rare it is.
I just recently learned about this species, and I am beyond ecstatic that they are starting to thrive again. Everyone involved in giving these beautiful birds a second chance on Earth deserve so much praise. Also, the chicks are very cute. Loved how one of them poked his head out from under mom's wing. 🥰
How heart warming to hear a story of wild life being saved. Too much of what I get sent to me is soul crushing SAD...and makes me so angry...in a emotional rage really
The little chick's are adorable are life affirming...and I've also learned of a flightless bird I never heard of. So happy their being protected....for all us animal lovers to rejoice.
Ditto, I raise chickens and they remind me of my 2 chick's that just hatched😊🐣🐥🐦

How adorable ❤ love that little pop! And then the mom is like, back to bed
Beautiful. I see the "prehistoric" look.
Cute Takahe.
Welcome back to the modern world.
The baby chicks sound so cute.
So beautiful of a bird looks almost computer generated 😳
Those fluffy little chicks! 😍
I couldn't be around one, the urge to hold it gently like a cheeseburger would be too much.
AND THAT LITTLE FLOOF IS THE BABY!? So cute I just coughed blood and I think I'm dying XD
It's a rare video footage of these chicks, great job
I loved the look of these birds as a kid.
Made me cry to hear they are still around ❤❤
So happy to hear this. ❤
The Black Bird of Angry Bird is real
Incredibly cute chicks
Be great to get the Auk back but unfortunate it'll never happen I'm glad to see these beautiful birds 😍
😟 the Auks were beautiful.
Imagine an Olympic Games Running contest between flightless birds, Tahate, Dodo, Ostrich etc
these are some cool birds fs
I Hope when I’m older I’m able to witness them roam like they used to
0:59 Oh, I see their numbers have increased a little bit to 100 since their last known 200 population in their 1st media appearance on the episode World’s Apart from the 1984 David Attenborough Documentary “The Living Planet”. I have The Living Planet in my DVD Collection. I wish I could say the same thing about this Smithsonian Channel documentary & some of the other Smithsonian Channel Documentaries that featured one of my favorite animals.
He says "three hundred".
@@msbonsaihuman I know what I heard. What I meant was that 1st there were 200 of them left, now they’ve increased to 100 more. Hence a total of 300 of them today.
They are in breeding programs now. The eggs are pulled and incubated to give the chicks a better chance because stouts and other weasels were eating the eggs. Due to invasive species not native to the area more protective measures have been added. As shown in the pic the parents are banded. They are really giving a lot of effort into trying and so far it is showing very promising success. I don't know what age the chicks are returned or if it's a swap out as soon as they hatch. Article I read didn't go into too many specifics. It's always a little less depressing seeing a wild animal come back from the brink. Hopefully we can save more & ourselves at the same time. Every effort counts it's just daunting when people see the true big picture.
@@debbiefox6846 That too is the problem I heard from The Living Planet that the Stoats & Weasels are declining the numbers of New Zealand’s flightless Birds. Including the Cats that are causing the problem as well. Also last time I heard about the Takahes on The Living Planet, there was a little difficulty getting them to breed in captivity. But now they seem to be making a comeback. A little bit, but it’s a start.
This is the only bird I know that eats grass.
Geese??
That’s so cool and sweet.
This made my day
Amazing
Wherever there's no human wildlife flourishes.
Ooh good luck birbs hope you thrive
300 more than yesterday thats cool
What do you mean?
rare
No. U r rare . U r going to extinct
Ancestors of purple moorhen
❤
They look like small gastornis
👍
Okay I kind of see how they could be dinosaurs
I pray that these birds survive and thrive to a large population. It's sad to think that they were once extinct for about 50 years. We have to remember that these are God's creatures, and for species to die put because of human intervention is disturbing.
۱۴۰۲~۶~۲۸🌻😘🥰💛🌸🍓🌺🌼🌷
Mmhmm chonky birb 🍴
Make them pets. Their natural environment is forever changed and they can't compete with mammals. So they'll never be safe from extinction without human intervention anyway. I'll take one as a pet, they are cute as all get out.
Hey if worse comes to worse we can probably breed these guys and replace our chickens with them, i wonder if their eggs are edible....
what do we achieve after revitalizing the extinct species when the current habitat for the living species has burden.
Why are WE making species..endangered whyyyyy
I want to eat this bird 🤤😋
Humans have become the malignancy to the planet. When you think of how much destruction we've done in the last 200 years alone it's pretty mind-blowing.
Talk about true dinosaurs!sick of man n the destructive nature!just have to take everything n always the animals/critters have to pay for our stupidity!😢
Better than "human beings".
They look like chickens... wonder how they taste? 😃
So much of what is wrong in the world in that sentence. Well-done
Glad to hear they've had success with trapping and killing large numbers of house cats. Those beasts are catastrophic to Earth's ecosystem. 98% of cat owners are highly irresponsible. There should be enormous fines for allowing pet cats to roam outside. If a cat is outside, it should be shot regardless of whether or not it has a collar.
Woah that's too extreme dude, i agree that they need to be controlled but not like that.
@tony_g6625 You underestimate cats man. You severely underestimate cats. They are doing far more damage than you can wrap your head around.
Actually a study found that feral domesticated dogs are equally responsible, so maybe slow your roll there bell-end
Thank You! Yet reptiles get all the blame!
