it's called composition. many things add up to a show being good and even if youre the best at a couple things you can still lag behind overall. Cyberpunk had amazing music that paid homage to the game, good character designs, amazing worldbuilding, emotional weight, and good animation. the only factor i could say it suffered was pacing considering the show felt a little bit rushed but it still worked out narratively speaking you know the show is good when people literally can't listen to "I really Want To Stay At Your house" in the game without crying now

I love this anime too because Lycoris Recoil have a lots of action, comedy and coolest scenes that I'm never expected but the most wanted anime to watch!

Can't believe that most the autumn shows got removed. If chainsaw man, bocchi the rock, bluelock, and mob psycho season 3 was here well..... Let's just say the award changes would've probably been drastically different. Oh well- can't change what has already happened. Honestly glad Spy x Family, Lycoris recoil, love is war and definitely cyberpunk edgerunners got the love they deserve. Bit annoying that AoT and demon slayer always take up awards that sometimes others should have (especially demon slayer taking best fantasy off mushoku tensei), but what's done is done. Honestly a little annoyed at the result, but I do agree with some awards tremendously.
If autumn animes weren't included intentionally i hope they make an appearence in the anime rewards of next year cuz bleach and csm would defintely take few awards, csm had so much hype even before release and bleach was the first anime to take throne of N 1 anime in myanimelist from fmab for 4 months, well until they spammed 1 star reviews like always
That's really my only major issue with this lineup. It's mostly low fantasy set in real-ish world with main characters that really just have increased physical strength and no real magical abilities. Just compare it to any well-crafted high fantasy setting like that of Mushoku Tensei and it doesn't stand a chance in this category.
As someone that didn’t play cyberpunk and definitely didn’t understand some lingo and references, the anime was so damn good. I did not expect to watch such a deep and depressing story.

No Made in Abyss s2, no Summertime Rendering, and many other animes. Probably this people was not watching the same SNK I was watching because, based on my experience, I can't understand why this title won in so many categories.
The Anime of the year results confuse me Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, and Spy X Family won the most categories (6 each) Cyberpunk only won a SINGLE category (Voice actor) Spy X Family won BEST New Series AHEAD of Cyberpunk, but Cyberpunk still wins Anime of the year. How does that make sense ???? I'm not saying Spy X Family should have won AOTY but it along with AOT and Demon Slayer definitely did better, and the results reflex that, so to me the other 3 were robbed
Cyberpunk is well rounded, delivering a great experience on every aspect while not being the best, while the other three shines in specific fields and being the best in those while quite lacking in other aspects. Take KnY Entertainment District Arc, we all know how crazy insane the animations is, not to mention amazing direction and poppy eye catching character design. AoT S4 pt.2 delivers amazing story accompanied by music that sends you to the depth of despair while feeling epic at the same time, but the cg and animation they use is just not great in this part. SxF is too niche to be Anime of the year, it has great score, great animation, but it's slow pace and comedy focus really makes it a weak contender to be Anime of the Year.

Attack on Titan, Demon Slayer, and Spy X Family won the most categories (6 each)
Cyberpunk only won a SINGLE category (Voice actor)
Spy X Family won BEST New Series AHEAD of Cyberpunk, but Cyberpunk still wins Anime of the year. How does that make sense ????
I'm not saying Spy X Family should have won AOTY but it along with AOT and Demon Slayer definitely did better, and the results reflex that, so to me the other 3 were robbed
Cyberpunk is well rounded, delivering a great experience on every aspect while not being the best, while the other three shines in specific fields and being the best in those while quite lacking in other aspects. Take KnY Entertainment District Arc, we all know how crazy insane the animations is, not to mention amazing direction and poppy eye catching character design. AoT S4 pt.2 delivers amazing story accompanied by music that sends you to the depth of despair while feeling epic at the same time, but the cg and animation they use is just not great in this part. SxF is too niche to be Anime of the year, it has great score, great animation, but it's slow pace and comedy focus really makes it a weak contender to be Anime of the Year.
Edgerunner received the all awards for best animation of the year in 2022. 2022 IGN award 2023 Anime award 2023 Daruma award The one who won all the awards was Edgerunner The result is beyond doubt.
I mean, gg's and all, but it could've used a little variety. Almost every damn winner was AOT, Demon Slayer, or SPYXFAMILY. Gotta show some love to the other great ones as well.
