0:28 that's the weird thing. Steam, officially, allows the existence of eroge and other "adult content" games on the storefront... the problem is that, basically, the process of approval is highly inconsistent; it is suspected that some of the staff is biased against Japanese games. Heck, it sometimes happen that a completely-not-eroge Japanese VN gets rejected. Also, removal of +18 stuff from those games isn't always caused by publishers wanting to get on Steam, anyway. It often happens in Japan itself, if the game is to be published on consoles; sometimes such "cleaned-up" versions are made just to reach a wider audience, if removal of adult content doesn't detract from the story too much.
@zerodepravityarchive1478 FSN does not have an official English release or Steam release in the first place. That said, Type-Moon just announced about a week ago that FSN is now getting an official English translation and will be available on Steam and the Switch. It's the Realta Nua version released in 2010 which does not have eroge scenes. Nasu removed them when the game was first remade because he didn't like them and didn't want them there in the first place.

VNDB also lists if the game has +18 patches/editions, and where to get them. Or other patches (like some community made patches that give better voiceovers and such). It also lists the voice actors for the characters in the VN (info some people might like).
I started using magpie for MapleStory but it also worked wonderfully on things like Touhou and old VNs, where the windowed mode is too tiny but native fullscreen mess up computer resolution. It's a really impressive and light application, it surprised me when I saw it was one of the tips

You’d be surprised how much story content can be added by 18+ patches, even though it is obvious you are joking. Nukitashi is one of my favorite visual novels, but not just for the h scenes, but it has a great plot and comedy. Without the 18+ patch though, the game is horrible because you lose almost all of that, since the whole visual novel is erotic in nature, considering the story is hosted on a sex obsessed island

This involves having to deal with living beings, getting a partner would take decades, downloading a VN takes a day at most Even then some partners may not be comfortable or would be reluctant to do some weird things
1) My appearance is mid 2) socialising is mid 3) Getting a partner would take a decade and a signifcant amount of effort and money 4) Slice of life in visual novels gets to the jokes and fun stuff quicker than an actual relationship 5) the possibility of toxic relationships, your partner may be manipulative and even toxic which would be extremely damaging especially when you have invested so much time and effort and money 6) Your time would be compromised, you would have to follow and go through with your partner's plans and also your friend's plans, this would be annoying for someone just trying to focus on one particular thing that is fun for example anime. Sometimes you just want to binge watch anime but you can't because your friend or partner has plans for you or wants to play games with you. Having multiple sources of dopamine can lead to burnout and the feeling of being lost as you don't know what you have accomplished and experienced and just feel like you are going with the flow and do not have any influence in what you do. It feels like you are trapped. 7) if you do get a partner the likely next step would be marriage, this is very costly and very time consuming 8) It is incredibly hard to get a good-looking and attractive girlfriend, this is because we are grown in a society where men are expected to approach girls and women's expectations are incredibly high, this leads to having a girlfriend with mid appearances. It may feel annoying to spend all this time and effort on a girlfriend that looks mid. 9) visual novels include many heroines to choose from and you can experience many heroine routes, getting a partner would restrict you with only dating that partner as doing otherwise would be considered cheating. This is fine for people that are very in love, but if you have a mid looking girlfriend then this is problematic. 10) socialising can lead to a lack of focus in academic studies. Having people constantly trying to start a conversation can be very focus depleting and can lead to people burning out quicker. Imagine having a friend constantly messaging you whilst you study or you're in school and someone keeps trying to talk to you. And to makes matters worse if you decide to ignore them for a significant amount of time, then it would lead to falling out and the relationship/friendship fizzling out. 11) when you have a partner, it is natural for you to start living together especially if you are getting married, sharing a house could be constricting as you feel that someone is constantly monitoring and judging you and don't have any privacy to yourself. You could just shout and sing goofy songs or just say internal monologues when you have a girlfirend in fear that she may think you're cringe and not cool. Also you can't just relax and master bait to good eroge or po*n in fear of your girlfriend catching you and being called cringe. 12) your girlfriend has access to all your stuff and as a result you could feel that your privacy is being invaded especially if your girlfriend is nosy. 13) when you have friends you actively have to be self conscious and check that your appearance looks good because your friends will judge how you look. In addition if the environment is poor and your friends are bad people, you could get into dr*gs which is very harmful but this is kinda rare 14) friends may feel like you are drifted from them or you are away from them once you get a partner as you will have to juggle between personal life studies friends and your partner. This can lead to you spending less time with your friends and may even cause conflict which can lead to toxic situations. I'm too far gone

It feels like you are trapped.
7) if you do get a partner the likely next step would be marriage, this is very costly and very time consuming
8) It is incredibly hard to get a good-looking and attractive girlfriend, this is because we are grown in a society where men are expected to approach girls and women's expectations are incredibly high, this leads to having a girlfriend with mid appearances.
In addition if the environment is poor and your friends are bad people, you could get into dr*gs which is very harmful but this is kinda rare
14) friends may feel like you are drifted from them or you are away from them once you get a partner as you will have to juggle between personal life studies friends and your partner. This can lead to you spending less time with your friends and may even cause conflict which can lead to toxic situations.
