I'd love to have seen the underside of the motherboard with the CPU, just to see what the cooling setup was like.
    Otherwise, nice video!

Would we be best-off running pfsense or opnsense/similar straight on "the metal"?
I.e. do the various interfaces/BUS's, take too much of a hit -running via proxmox/similar?
This is the sort of thing you need to thoroughly test for, if you're suggesting proxmox/similar use!

I have 2 (relatively) large networks that I set up and the pfSense is running inside a guest machine with PCIE passthrough for ethernet card. It works without any issues, there are no delays or performance hit

@ This exact config? Still be handy to demonstrate in your vids. BR.

No, not this config, it's an AMD-based dual CPU server that runs proxmox and I have pfSense as a guest on it. For a home network, this device should do the job with no issues. Generally speaking, with Promox and pfSense as a guest, and PCIE passthrough, I don't think there will be any noticeable lag

Not on this machine. On their cheaper units without any SFP+ ports and less power, probably. But anything powerful enough to run a hypervisor like Proxmox would be kind of wasted running OpnSense / pfSense bare metal IMO.
Physical vs virtual router comes down to a couple things. If you only have the one, bare metal is going to be the way to go, as if it goes down, your whole network is going with it, so you don't want that to happen when you're updating Proxmox or something. But if you have a Proxmox cluster, virtual is the way to go, as HA takes over when one node goes down and you wont' even notice, while you get the benefits of VM snapshots and such.

@praetorxyn, exactly what you said. If you don't mind network going down when you reboot/upgrade the Proxmox, pfSense as a guest OS on a powerful machine should do fine.

    Why do you need TPM?

Is this suitable for 10Gbps internet setup at home with NAT(one to many/PAT)?

Gotta laugh that a bunch of gamers think that the Chinese state is interested in their porn collection. That said, anybody working from home should take their IT security seriously. Protectli is a good brand and worth the investment.

you should buy some old Chromeboxes like the Asus Chromebox 3 CN65 to compare it to these min PCs since that's really what that is anyways

Seems like a weird thing to compare to since a chromebox has a single network interface.

Drives read/write at Megabytes per second not megabits per secound. That's networking.

Please stop saying "TPM module". The "M" already stands for "module". Same case as stuff like "LCD display" or "HTTP protocol". This always triggers me and it always gives me the impression the person does not know what they're talking about / what the abbreviation means.
