I arrived back in London and after loosing 8 hours in time difference, 10 hours on a plane and 3 more hours in plane to home situation I got home super late and confused, it was breakfast time but it was dark outside. Since this whole day got a bit lost, I decided to talk to you about the most important topic there is - health. As a biologist I find quit impossible to determinate the personality or the intellectual predisposition of someone using a DNA test ...especially by itself (without a TC or a CAT for example, some of this results May be reliable but not all of them... It sounds a little bit like an horoscope, especially in that part.
Every single test comes up with a scientific confidence grade in results. Of course even if you have something in your genes it doesn't need to mean that that gene will be dominant or active, it also goes without saying how much our environment influences the way we are. However there are some things written in the code. Though you are a biologist, I am not sure how comfortable you are with genetic engineering part, but I will assume a lot. For IQ in particular they test more than 60 genes and they also provide references and researches based on which they came with that result (they do the same for all the traits), hope this helps

they can't. It's called marketing :D Because the correlation does not equal causation and you can develop to be a completely different being that what it is 'written' by biology.

Wow. That DNA kit caught something important, Tamara. I hope your primary care doctor refers you to a specialist. Not sure if that would be a hematologist or hepatologist, but definitely a specialist, your primary would know which and whom. I am an RN. Sometimes primary care has a bias to manage, but you should ask about seeing a specialist, at least once.

Wow so much information in that one test, I might consider it too, u never know what happens in the future, also with covid.
I too suffer from IBS…my food sensitivities hit me hard in my mid thirties after a particularly stressful few years. Studies conducted on mice show that IBS possibly is due to a bacterial gut infection root to the onset of symptoms, but I also believe that stress hormones (plus the changes in hormonal levels women start to go through at a certain time in their lives) attribute to the higher rate of diagnosis in women. I hated the way doctors dismissed my “symptoms”…some even having the audacity to suggest this was something I was manifesting in my own head!!!🤬
I took it upon myself to devour all the research and scientific data available to me, while simultaneously overhauling my diet…eliminating one potential trigger at at time. I had to completely cut out all dairy, reduce sugar drastically, and focus on an anti inflammatory diet. I later was diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis (an aggressive form of arthritis that attacks the large axial joints) and now see a Rheumatologist to manage this auto immune condition. Apparently joint pain of this origin go hand and hand with the inflammation of my the large intestinal wall that causes IBD and IBS. I only mention this because you spoke about your joint pain and previously have referenced your scoliosis.
Long story short…we have to accept the fact that we can not always depend on the medical community to solve the mysterious ailments we sometimes encounter. In the end, no one will advocate for your health the way you will…and more times than not, we the patients are left to do the leg work.
Disclaimer: I am by no means a doctor, or even a medical background, but I live in America…a country notorious for a broken and corrupt medical system, so we do what we have to do in the hopes of achieving wellness and health. I started watch your chanel since Vlogmas Day 1, and since then I am addicted , I have to watch it every day but I am very interested in this DNA test, because is a very good thing to know about what can happen or how we are inside, helps to prevent... But the other thing interesting is that all that you said you have, intolerance to food, or other things that you can have, or how you are like person, or that you don't smoke or alchool etc, I have the same things...The intolerance from food as gluten and lactose I feel it since I have 20, now I have 32... I really would love to do this test, and I really love to watch your vlogs ( I also started to watch your other vlogs, older ones) I live in Uk now, but I am from Romania, and I also love Italy and I know to speak in italian , and spanish .... Are you sure you don't take hair supplements with iron in it? I always avoid multi vitamins which include iron. They mess up with iron levels and that's one thing that can be dangerous as you said. Take vit d3+k2 for your bone density

Sodium is something your body needs. Be mindful that you do not deprive yourself from salt. Balance is always important.
Sodium isnt the same as salt, salt is sodium chloride crystals, however yes salt is high in sodium - but there is a big difference between adding a lot of salt and having a normal sodium intake☺️
DNA hacking is worse than credit hacking. Although all these companies are enticing, one needs to be aware who owns these companies and what they are really going to do with your data. It seems this company is based out of Hong Kong and they are interested in biomedical sciences. Again, I agree having information can be useful but who ends up knowing your information is equally important.

High iron level in your blood could be a symptom of thalassemia. Since you have about 11% blood from the Middle East, be sure to do a blood test, please! Greetings from Serbia 🇷🇸❤

A njegova rođena sestra je imala talasemiju major i nivo gvožđa oko 2500 jedinica (ako su ref. vrednosti od 10 do 30) i sve je bilo nataloženo u jetri i žuči, pa joj je izazvalo i anemiju, jer to gvožđe uopšte nije bilo apsorbovano onako kako bi trebalo da bude. Naravno, to je baš težak oblik, ali su i oni radili Heritage DNA test i imaju oko 15% krvi sa Bliskog Istoka. Nisam imala nameru da ti predviđam nešto loše, niti ti to želim, ali sam zbog zetovljeve sestre malo zaplašena! Btw, pre nego što sam ih upoznala nisam ni znala za postojanje te bolesti...

@@TamaraKalinic Med student here, still not giving any professional advice, just an observation. I also know about and respect your background in farmacy so I am not trying to be smarter or anything like that. I just love debating health science. Thalassemia is accompanied with lack of Hb with possible high levels of iron due to increased absorption from gastrointestinal tract as a compensating mechanism. So it is possible to have high levels of iron and low Hb. But ofcourse you don't have it, that is completely different from haemochromatosis.
Since you carry the gene for haemochromatosis and you experience all of those symptoms, it is not uncommon for the disease to present itself right at your age.
I suspect you find it difficult to understand how haemochromatosis all of a sudden when your whole life you were iron defficient. Just understand that our bodies are a constant battle for homeostasis and just like our blood sugar levels are not constant even when we are healthy, you can for sure go out of balance in iron levels, especially since you already had a disbalance before. Maybe those low iron levels even triggered accumulation over time. You are already doing everything right so don't worry too much. Positive energy heals, even science proves it! You are a woman that takes care of herself and that is the best you can do. You also look amazing with that darker skin, embrace it! Who says that we can't look at certain health conditions positively if we do everything to keep them in check? 🙂 wish you all the best!
Also medical student. Thalassemias would have a high serum iron. Etiology is due to a faulty globin gene which can cause decreased or missing alpha/beta globin chains. Defective alpha or beta subunits cause anemia. Iron does not play a role in thalassemia pathophysiology and may be increased due to inability to make hemoglobin and thus compensatory saturation in the serum.

Because everything is written in your DNA - genotype and phenotype who decide on how you look, behave and even which genes you carry that might not even be active (they are recessive) … science is amazing✨

So you’ve had anaemia ie low haemoglobin all your life but now high ferritin?? That doesn’t make sense so I’d go and have a specialist haematologist review this. High ferritin can be raised as it is an inflammatory marker and not just indicative of high iron reserves. You need to have your iron saturation reviewed too lovely. Love dna reports but don’t rely on them for diagnosis esp iron and ferritin. Even gp’s don’t understand the nuance of interpreting iron xx
The test is not too good, I would prefer to have it split into countries not just Western Europe... People do you really believe that you can get cancer diagnosis from your saliva? Doctors wish it was that easy :D and personality...saliva... come on...
