I'm only about 7 minutes in, but the answer to Jerma's question is actually evolution. Birds with wider wingspans that live by/on roadways are more likely to die from a car, because their wider wingspan makes it more difficult for them to maneuver away. Likewise, birds with smaller wingspans are more likely to dodge cars, and thus survive. The surviving birds are more likely to pass on similar wingspan sizes, leading to birds near roads having smaller wingspans all around. Its pretty interesting that such a change occurred in bird populations specifically due to automobiles.

Small animals see at a lower fps. Humans see at like 36 fps if I remember correctly. So they see stuff quicker that's the reason you don't hit birds.. Or why when you swat at flies they seem to always get away
