Tell your mom that being a year closer to your grave is worth celebrating as well. If you are a believer, you ought to rejoice and be glad that you’re a year closer to meeting your creator( or Allah) As Christians we don’t hold any grip on staying in this world, Jesus said He’s going to his Father’s house, where he’d create rooms for us in His Father’s mansion. So, heaven is our home and a year closer to our grave is a year closer to meeting Our God and His begotten son Jesus. Muslims should stop with the hypocrisy of “where was it written in the Quran that Mohammed celebrated birthdays” I can list about 50 things Mohammed didn’t do that Muslims now practice. If Mohammed was alive, He’d definitely forbid social media (Twitter Facebook UA-cam google are all founded by Christians) Mohammed did use cars, Karl Benz ( a Christian) created the first automobile that Muslims now use. Mohammed didn’t use computer, Charles Babbage (a Christian) invented computer that Muslims now use. We can go on and on, truth is not everything existed in Mohammed of Jesus’s time. We were given brains and holy books so we can use them to make a decision between right and wrong. It’s ridiculous to say because something didn’t exist about thousands of years ago means that it’s haram now that they exist. There is one thing I want to add. Your birthday, calculated with the lunar calendar, which is the wright timespan, is different every year. Just like Ramadan shifts, your real birthday also does in the gregorian calendar. Asalam alaikum we rahmatullah we barakatu dear Brother. Thank you very much, for your in-depth research and arguments. - As a convert and father of five minors (7 to 17 years of age) I still have the questions on how to change the established customs of family and social context in appropriate way, so that, instead of discouraging or frightening my children off, encourage to a better perspective. A mere cutting of the old won't do. Any further inspiration will be apreaciated.
I don't have a good answer to your question. Small children will feel left out if their peers celebrate and they don't. They will think Islam is a kill joy. Even worse, their peers will congratulate and throw them a party out of courtesy. I know this happens in offices where they don't plan to derail us from Islam but they assume we would want that so they arrange for a cake. I don't know how I will ward them off.
@@ahmedmaaz4390 That is a good answer, dear brother. "Islam is not a kill joy" - for kids it shouldn't be. For adults, I expect a more sophisticated attitude. Like, when we go out, amongst the comrades of voluntary fire-brigade (for example) I would neither eat pig nor drink alcohol, so that my comrades do not feel "unwell". That is a different context. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It helped, to reflect more.
@@sound_knowledge0 you can tell them this story , and i also recommend to read about Omar bin Abdulaziz . Here's the story : The little boy came running to his mother crying with a request. “Jarir and Mughiz have both got new clothes for Eid. Can I have some new clothes as well?” The mother picked him up and wiped his tears. Their mother, Fatima bint Abdul Malik(RA), was no ordinary woman. Her father, grandfather and each of her four brothers were at one time or another Caliph and leader of the Muslim Ummah. In fact, her own husband was the present Caliph, Umar ibn Abdul Aziz(RA) - who ruled the world’s largest empire that stretched from the Atlantic to the Indian oceans. She promised him that she would check with his father to see if he could have new clothes for Eid. When Umar ibn Abdul Aziz returned home, his wife related her sons request to him. The Caliph had a pained look in his eyes. “Fatima, you know how much I value my children, but all the money I have is in front of you”, he said motioning towards the sparsely furnished hut. Though a Caliph, Umar took care to live honestly and did much to ensure justice. Fatima agreed with her husband, but she said that maybe it would be possible to buy very cheap clothes for him and he would just be happy with something new to wear. The tears have left satins on his cheeks. Finally, the Caliph, saddened by the plight, agreed and wrote a letter to his treasurer requesting that his pay be advanced a month early so that he could buy his child something to wear on Eid. But the honest and pious Caliph had an equally honest treasurer who wrote a letter in reply to the Caliph. The Caliph read the letter with tears flowing from his eyes: “Amir Ul-Mumineen, I have great respect for you and I trust and obey you completely. However, if you could guarantee to me that you will live through the next month and do your service to the people (which will entitle you to your pay) then the money can be advanced to you. If you cannot give the assurance of your life, then how can the treasury pay you and why are you taking the rights of the poor, orphans and widows onto your shoulders?” Caliph Umar ibn Abdul Aziz realised his mistake. Fatima bint Abdul Malik, washed the old clothes. The day of Eid arrived and the whole area of Damascus was buzzing with joy and celebration with people clad in their new attires. Caliph Umar ibn Abdul Aziz also set out for the Eid Prayer holding the hand of his son, both father and son wearing their clean old clothing. The young boy’s face shone brightly, as he walked alongside his father, convinced that the eternal pleasure and comforts of Jannah (Paradise) are by far superior to the comforts of this temporary world.
My kids get invited to bday parties at different places every now and then such as bowling or an indoor trampoline place and rather than let them go I take them to the same place on a different day and invite their cousins along We also make eid a really big deal.lots of presents lolly bags decorations visiting ppl etc... When a child of mine has an achievement like moving up a level in swim lessons or memorising a new surah anything they worked hard at we celebrate by going somewhere or offering a gift or getting a nice cake with family over
AstafirAllah. I participated in some birthday celebrations of muslim co-workers last year. These same muslims wear christmas shirts at work and go around telling people merry christmas. No more for me! Thank you very much for this video.
I attended many birthdays of many friends of many races, we wished them good health and everyone is happy after that, after all we come from the same father, just love our neighbours, thats the greatest of the ten commandments.
You are not showing love, you are sowing seeds of hate, love your neighbours, whether they wear santa claus or spiderman costumes just embrace them as brothers that god made them.
@@kevinlim7717 Bro, the sheikh literally explained in the video WHY you shouldn't celebrate birthdays, and he quoted the Old Testament. We aren't sowing seeds of hate - we're just refraining from participating in anything birthday. A person actively avoiding an uneeded ritual shouldn't offend you.
@@kevinlim7717 It's not about showing love. It's about respecting the rules of Islam. We are not living in this dunya to please people's eyes but the eyes of our creator. We can show love and care towards people in many other ways.

I didn't like celebrating my birthday. I didn't like birthdays because of the pressure of finding presents that they liked. I buckled under pressure of celebrating mine. I did celebrate twice. Now I know it's prohibited. No more b'day celebration even pressured.
I think it's incumbent upon each and every Muslim to educate oneself first and then to diligently unwrap oneself from all the innovations brought upon us as a Muslim Ummah, from Non-muslims. Certain cultures were decimated by the introduction of certain vices like the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Also what about the Hadith where the Prophet PBUH says we only two Eids every other Eids are cancelled Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1134 What is an Eid? Eid means repeated celebration (festival) Birthday is a repeated celebration which makes it an Eid which is not one of our two Eids which means it is cancelled
May Allah SWT grant us the correct understanding of the deen, insha’Allah. I, myself, was guilty of such a practice, however, eliminating this practice gradually within my family circle, insha’Allah.
Thank you Uthman and MasjidRibat, as this is the first, I saw someone shed the light on this topic by showing proof that BIRTHDAY is a PAGAN CELEBRATION.
I tried talking my family and extended family out of these practices like birthdays, mothers and fathers days and valentine days. It did not go well, i was called names. They're all muslim btw. Some of them start putting small christmas trees in their rooms in winter, because "it looks good", not like their worship it.
Spot on. Muslims should know and understand that by the calendar you follow that your birthday is never on the same day year by year. If you were born on the 21st day of the first month of the year, you know that it moves every year to a different day in the solar cycle. God has done this for a reason that way we do not pay homage to a Sun God or the Catholic Church (Gregorian calendar made by the Pope) instead of to God. Myself as a Christian I keep the calendar as outlined in the Bible although it is a little different than yours right now. I keep it by understanding that when the sun was created on the 4th day of creation that was the equinox, and then we are to start the year 4 days before this, when the moon was either created or reflected light when God said "let there be light". Anyone who reads the creation account from the Bible should quite clearly see the moon was not created on the 4th day as the sun and stars were. It does not fit the criteria for being out only during the day or only during the night. Thus by following this calendar God made it for all mankind and not just for the Jews but made it in the beginning for Adam. The start of each year will always fall between March 2nd and March 30 consistently on a calendar today, but never on the same day and hence why the denomination that I belong to (Seventh Day Adventists) also are told we are not to celebrate birthdays or worldly holidays as well. I am going through the Qur'an myself now (only chapter 9 so far) and see and understand why now in Surah 9:36-37 it says not to transpose or postpone the one particular month so they can go to war. That that is your 12th month where as a Christian following the Biblical year every 3 years or so we add an extra moon cycle to the 12th month. The Jews I believe call it Adar II. The Qur'an is super exciting and I am shocked at how it matches the Bible and the Spirit of Prophecy in so many ways! Praise God that He gives light to everyone in the world and may that light shine brighter and brighter even in ways many do not expect. Keep preaching!
Brother can you please link or do a video on Milad/Mawlid, where people gather around chanting things about the Prophet PBUH when blessing a new house etc, need some knowledge on this!
It shud also be mentioned.....that the prophet muhammad used to fast every Mondays ...the day he was born... to show his gratitude to Allah subhanahu wataala.....rather celebrating birthdays with cakes n candles.... Muslims should fast n cook good food n feed the poor n needy and share it with your family n friends ....sharing food is a very good deed in islam ....just making neeyah of pleasing Allah subhanahu wataala is needed in all our aamaals ......when people have hard time leaving bad habits ...replace them with good habits...thats in my humble opinion as a Muslim only ...allahu wa raooluhu aalam....
If you think this as logical, birthdays are an year officially cut off of your life. If Allah tells you you will only leave 2 more years, how would we feel our next birthday will be
In Hadith where the Prophet PBUH says we only two Eids every other Eids are cancelled Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1134 What is an Eid? Eid is a repeated celebration Birthday is a repeated celebration which makes it an Eid which is not one of our two Eids which means it is cancelled It is commandment by the Prophet PBUH
First thought that went through my head! Hard enough talking to them about obligatory acts of worship.. God forbid trying to change something they've been doing for their whole life... and then try telling them not to celebrate the kids birthdays. In my head if the Prophet (saws) didn't do it then why are you? But everyone has an excuse when they want to follow their desires... Ya Allah give us patience...
When i told people abt the origin of birthdays...they defend the celebration with the practice of maulid - birthday of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Prophet say about monday fasting that in the day i was born. So we owe to thank to allah in birthday for giving a chans for live in the world by performing sadhaqa in the way that didn't same other religious practice. We cant say birthday celebration is all in all haram. That is a shukr for nihmath of allah.
We fast in muharram 9, 10 for thank to god for escaping moosa(a) from faroova. In this event we can understand that there is a speciality and peculiarity in the same day of every year than other days. (Hashiyath sharvani of thuhfa baabul valeemath)

Here's the story :
The little boy came running to his mother crying with a request.
If you cannot give the assurance of your life, then how can the treasury pay you and why are you taking the rights of the poor, orphans and widows onto your shoulders?”
Caliph Umar ibn Abdul Aziz realised his mistake.
Wa'ãlaykumu salaamu warahmatullaahi wabarakaatuh
My kids get invited to bday parties at different places every now and then such as bowling or an indoor trampoline place and rather than let them go I take them to the same place on a different day and invite their cousins along
We also make eid a really big deal.lots of presents lolly bags decorations visiting ppl etc...
When a child of mine has an achievement like moving up a level in swim lessons or memorising a new surah anything they worked hard at we celebrate by going somewhere or offering a gift or getting a nice cake with family over
Let us all together say Astaqfirullah...and refrain from such acts....
Jazak Allaahu khayran
It was really informative 👍

Drop the arrogance just because you've stopped don't look down on them rather advise them. Hate the sin don't hate the person.
MashAllah may Allah reward you in this life and in akhirah. Ameen
sheikh kindly make this in urdu language so i can share to my Pakistani familly and friends. JazakAllah
Can you make the same guide in Urdu. i wana send that clip to my family and relatives. It's so common here in Pakistan nowadays. People infuse these haram celebrations in kids mind from childhood. جَزَاكَ ٱللَّٰهُ
I very much appreciate that you made this video.
Masha Allah explained so beautifully May Allah Subhanau Watala guide us Jazak Allahu khair
I didn't like celebrating my birthday. I didn't like birthdays because of the pressure of finding presents that they liked. I buckled under pressure of celebrating mine. I did celebrate twice. Now I know it's prohibited. No more b'day celebration even pressured.
this is a smash to all brelvies who have made the third eid called eid miladun nabi.

A lot of muslims don't put candles or make wishes but anyway we should avoid
I think it's incumbent upon each and every Muslim to educate oneself first and then to diligently unwrap oneself from all the innovations brought upon us as a Muslim Ummah, from Non-muslims.
Certain cultures were decimated by the introduction of certain vices like the consumption of alcoholic beverages.
Insha Allah, i shall sit Infront of you one day as a student.
Also what about the Hadith where the Prophet PBUH says we only two Eids every other Eids are cancelled
Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1134
What is an Eid? Eid means repeated celebration (festival)
Birthday is a repeated celebration which makes it an Eid which is not one of our two Eids which means it is cancelled
جزاك الله خيرا يا شيخ
I can say so far that we didn't have any tradition of birtdays as Muslim Turks in western Balkan the last century and probably earlier too!

May Allah make you steadfast in avoiding birthdays and other haran celebrations.
Ask Allah to guide your family members
can anyone tell where can i find this book free pdf online "uncommon history of common things".
It's not difficult: just celebrate as the prophet (S. A. W) did and refrain from what he didn't celebrate.
Mashaallah brother you give as well information thanks
If Allah tells you you will only leave 2 more years, how would we feel our next birthday will be
I knew having birthdays were bad but now I know why. Astaghfirullah.
In Hadith where the Prophet PBUH says we only two Eids every other Eids are cancelled
Sunan Abī Dāwūd 1134
What is an Eid? Eid is a repeated celebration
Birthday is a repeated celebration which makes it an Eid which is not one of our two Eids which means it is cancelled
It is commandment by the Prophet PBUH
masha Allah dear brother well said
Time for a fight with my wife. she wont understand this.
Agreed its so hard I will try 🤣
Tell her if you'd celebrate any birthday it would be mawlid. But that's not the way of life The Almighty revealed to our prophet (saws).

Treat her just as special throughout the year and she won't fight insha Allah.
JazakaAllah shaykhana. Can you please clarify on celebrating wedding anniversaries? Is it different from Birthdays? Please explain.
The Prophet SAW fasted because fasting is sunnah. You don't have to if you don't want to.
When i told people abt the origin of birthdays...they defend the celebration with the practice of maulid - birthday of the prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).
Alhamdulillah I never celebrated my birthday , nor did any member of my family nor did we wished anyone birthday .
Jazakumullahu khairan
Prophet say about monday fasting that in the day i was born. So we owe to thank to allah in birthday for giving a chans for live in the world by performing sadhaqa in the way that didn't same other religious practice. We cant say birthday celebration is all in all haram. That is a shukr for nihmath of allah.
