When you think about all the positions in baseball, what positions would you say get the most balls hit to them? You’re probably thinking shortstop, maybe second base - or really any position in the infield.
But, I can almost guarantee that the outfield positions didn’t cross your mind at all, especially in youth baseball.
But even though the outfield positions don’t get as much action as the infield, that doesn’t mean they’re not important to the game.
In today’s bullpen bulletin, we’re covering 6 simple steps to field every ball hit to you in the outfield - because as you get older and the competition can hit the ball farther, more and more balls will be hit to you in the outfield. Today, we’re making sure you know how to field every one of them.
    6 Steps:
    1) Pre-Step
    2) Turn Your Hips
    3) Get Around the Ball
    4) Fielding a Ground Ball
    5) Fielding a Fly Ball
    6) The Crow Hop

Let me know one thing you learned today about fielding a ball in the outfield - and how about that crow hop?! Have you ever done one before? If you haven't, are you excited to try it out? I'd love to hear from you!

I like outfield. IM fast, its easy, im good at it, and i don't have to think about everything infield does.

😂 that's a great way to look at it! The outfield grows more and more important with every year because players are able to hit it out there as they get older - better to learn as early as you can 👍
