Six String Saturday's second tutorial (part 1). This tutorial is the first of five dealing with how to pick chords, and is part 1 of 2 videos about backing major tunes. Made my Finale Guitar Studio, Sheffield.
Had to upload this one on a Tuesday as I'll be at Chippenham Folk Festival this Saturday. Part 2 of this tutorial will also be up today.

Huge thanks to Toraigh for making this wonderful list of tunes, which is nothing to do with me and has not been used for profit.

At last someone who talks like a real session musician and not a music teacher. The way you describe the chord changes and when the chords change is so clear. You should spend some time in Doolin Co Clare they would love you. Many thanks. Barry

I recommend that you use tonic by assertion to find the key, scale, or mode of a tune. For example, the tonic is the most repeated note. It's usually placed on strong-beats within a measure. The melody begins(optional) and ends on the tonic note. Lastly, if you see a longer note value, it's usually the tonic note. I hope that helps.

Modal chords work often well too.
And how often is myxolidian mode used compared to major-ionian?

I mainly would like the diagram of some of the open and unusul chords you do and quite a few other expirienced backers.
