Gill literally had to repeat himself 1000 times for only one or two dudes to be able to comprehend it. And yall wonder why hoopers say shit like your not a true hooper so you wouldn't get it. Being a true hooper is more than being supremely skilled it's also the ability to dissect the game at all levels which you can clearly see most of the panel is stuck on the 1st level🤦

Hakeem should be charging 5k for a week max. 50k for a week is more than most people make in an entire year and he's not doing anything for it. It's just an Oldhead charity at this point.

  • @Jukeboxster
    @Jukeboxster 8 місяців тому +1

what Gil's talking about doesn't apply just to basketball, but everything. All he's saying is that having rare ability doesn't always translate to being able to teach it to others. Teaching and doing are two different skillsets. That can be applied to playing a musical instrument, singing, writing, anything. Additionally, Gil is saying that part of a teacher's responsibility is meeting your student where they are. That means every student may have to start at a different place based on their current state, most can't start off with the advanced course if they're learning something for the first time. If they need the basic fundamentals first, then you have to start there.
People who are ultra talented can't always impart that talent or knowledge to others. And the reverse is often true, the best teachers are not always the most talented at using that skill, but they can impart information better than most. But because Hakeem is NBA royalty we're not supposed to say stuff like this. It's not a slight to his legacy, just saying that great at doing doesn't equal great at teaching.

Gilbert is talking about teaching a style of play that is not being used in the NBA today.
So making an investment in learning an alternative style of play when you are already successful with a style that works for you makes no sense in the first place
Akeem was playing in the post. Centers today want to really play like a guard so for a center learning a new style that he has no need for the move in today’s game is ignorant.
When Gilbert spoke about the learning curve in the ability to learn in a class I disagree with.
Every student can improve their grades if they put the effort in or put the work into the studying part which requires time and effort.
Now some students may need to study 📖 more than others. Improvement is based on the individual’s ability to work consistently with dedication.
No player is going to learn a new skill set if in a game the player is playing as a point forward. Lebron and the players today play from a wide set with barely no post players.
Gilbert does make good points based upon his teaching skillset. This is where I disagree. Not everyone teaches a skill set the same way
I trained my son to box 🥊and my son learn the fundamentals from me and I never boxed 🥊. I knew the fundamentals and my son barely got hit.
Gilbert writes his instructions down which is a plus. I agree with some of what he is saying but not all of what he is saying

Olajuwon is worth 300 million dollars so what's he's charging for is his time.
Do you expect him to fly from England where he lives back to Houston to teach for free?
They ask him for teaching because they either watched him dominate growing up or have seen tapes on the man and were impressed enough to seek his knowledge.
These players are wanting to learn a specific skill set that only Hakeem has, and he's showing these players who come to him what they ask for, and it's up to them on how they incorporate it into their games.
It seems like you're expecting everyone who ASKS him for help to be Dream 2.0 the next season.
Also that "overrated" dreamshake helped Olajuwon win an MVP in 94, and back to back Finals MVP'"s, so it must've worked pretty well.

Notice how Gilbert achieved the opposite with Hakeem ... the more he talks about and convolutes himself ...the more Hakeems moves becomes more popular and he gets googled more !!
Gilbert is also lying.. about Hakeem born natural skills Hakeem came into the league with bcos half the skills Hakeem had on post moves were not there when he entered the pro... what he had
at time of entry was his defense esp. blocked shots and not even steals !!!

For you to agree with him just proves even more of you not knowing basketball at all. If you know how to play with your back facing the basket, that already makes you difficult to contain because the defender can’t put his hands on you. Why do you think Kyrie Irving or even an old cp3 is difficult to guard? Because they know how to move with their back facing the basket.
