Please be conscious of the fact that when this practice started, pedophilia, kidnapping, rape, and other kinds of disgusting assaults were not present; they were practically unheard of. Therefore, just in case you're wondering why someone would want to do that to their child [for the very skeptical folks], I completely understand what the basis of your thoughts is.
It was safer to pass a child around the community-with the child receiving gifts and snacks from several people sometimes, and having a time of their life-back then than it is now.
However, we can't deny that it is an interesting practice. It was done to me as well, when I was a lot younger. 😌
Very nice! Great way to keep an active child engaged without being stressed or breaking their joy.

Yorùbá Lessons with Adérónké̩ - Parents do this in the Caribbean on April Fools. But they give the kid a note and tell the kid never to open it, only show it to X-person. Then X-person would send you to Y-person with the note. And so on and so on. The note normally reads "Send the fool farther on".

Lol this was very fun and informative thank you for sharing! It sounds so fun and creative as opposed to some of the things parents have done in present day. I think I'm going to try some things like this with my children lol a fun and harmless tradition
