I went to Jim Shoulders rodeo school 1976. Bareback I rode the first horse . He would not let me off till I turned my toes out. later he told us if you stayed in this sport you will be crippled. I left there got a job as a machinist never looked back. I love that Man.
I went to his bull riding school in 1974. On the way home I entered 4 rodeos. I won 2 of them placed in another bucked off one bull. Just in those few rodeos I earned enough to pay my tuition at his school. I rode bulls for just over 5 years. I never was hurt. I was shaken up a few times. I made some money at it and met a lot of good friends that I still have to this day. His son Marvin Paul helped me a lot with my bull riding at the school. I can’t say enough about the Shoulders family. Salt of the earth people.
It's most likely a Quarter Horse. At one time they were called Steeldusts or Billy horses. The Billy horse were named such because of a stallion called Billy, or Old Billy. Billy founded a family of horses. They ran, and worked stock.
Glad channels like this exist
Jim Shoulders was truly a cowboys cowboy even though he was a stock contractor , he was still for the cowboys. He was one of my personal favorites .
