Very commonsence approach. Great job! I have a one inch lip on my kitchen to living room transition that is variablethat will do nicely now that I have seen this
It would’ve been nice to see the threshold run through the saws and planer. The explanations were good but visuals are helpful. Thanks for showing how to do it 😃
For that much height I would be looking at building more of a ramp configuration. I would think I would start out about a foot wide and see if it still looks like a trip hazard and go from there. With that much height it will be a tripping hazard unless you build it wide enough not to be but would want to play around with it until it felt comfortable approaching it.
They say a picture paints a thousand words! Perhaps your clients didn't want you filming the job but it would have been see the actual job site, the fitting and end result?!
yes I built this for a contractor so I had no pics to show of the fit but was told it fit just as they needed it to. Thanks for watching and checking out my channel
Hi, can you tell us the size of the thickness of your transition strip? I would like to know more how much did you reserve for the part of strip that is laying on the higher level of the transition, in [mm] if it's possible. Thank you!
The top portion was about 1/4 " thick. It needs to be just thick enough that it will not split off so it will depend a little bit on the material you use to build it.
Hello, i need a ramp/reducer exactly like this about 11 feet long. Where are you based out of. It would be great if i could pay you to make me one for a customers job im preparing to tile. Thank you. Hope to jear back from you. Im in Florida.
I am in the columbia SC area so probably a bit far to come and get one from me. I would be happy to help you out with one if you want to drive here to pick it up.
I ran the wood through the band saw at about 6 minuit mark to get the bevel. I did just show the setup and not pushing it through. If you need more clarification let me know and I will try to get a video showing it for you.

Glad it was helpful!
Yet again another great video highlighting your skills and knowledge.
Thanks again for watching

how would you solve for a 1.75 inch height difference?

Hey I was googling this and I said hey that is Doug!
I am everywhere. Hope it was helpful and thanks for checking it out. Hope you are doing well.
Can you show us what it looks like in the home. I have a transition installed and the dip is driving me crazy
I wish I could but this was for a customer and they gave me the measurements. I did not do the install but they said it fit perfect.

I need one just like this but for a standard door way. Would you make me one?

@@DougLearn Thank you! My plan is to do it from oak (from the clip I believe you did the same).

@@DougLearn thank you, probably a little to far. May try to make something with my table saw with some 5/4"x4"x8' oak. Thx. For the idea.
How much does something like this cost?
I cant remember for sure but I think I charged them $200 or $250
Too bad, wanted to see how u made the bevel cut
