John Clayface was confirmed by James Gunn to be a DCU movie in a conversation he had with someone on threads: "James, can you confirm that Clayface is in the DCU. There are still people that don't believe it." James Gunn responded: "Yes the movie is in the DCU. I think I've already said that, haven't I?"
Im 23 years old and still remember where i was when michael jackson died. All my elders loved playing MJ when i was growing up. Super excited for the film.
John might not see it this way, but he will be doing us fans dirty by suddenly announcing his last show on the day of it. I'm sure most fans would prefer to make more of a big deal of the final show (more for their own sanity and acceptance than anything else, for those who having been watching daily for over 10 years like myself).
“How can you delay something that doesn’t have a release date?” It didn’t have a publicly announced date, that doesn’t mean they didn’t have target dates behind the scenes that they aren’t making?
Lilo and stitch has been absolutely huge in Ireland in the last 2 years, it sells in every shop, every kind of merchandise you could think of, guaranteed to make over a billion. But AVATAR 3 will smash everything out of the park
I'm sure it'll do well, but it's not as if the relative popularity of something in Ireland is somehow indicative of how well it will perform. There are more people living in New York City than there are in the entire country of Ireland. Even if it were the biggest movie of all time to release in Ireland it would barely make a blip in the grand scheme of things.
52:55 🤣🤣🤣 had me FOOLED!! well done👏🏽👏🏽 also interesting take on Michael, thought because of the division people have on him that it would hurt the box office, but I guess your right its going to be huge nevertheless
John, seriously? Don't do that to your fans, please 🙏🏿.... I have been watching you since The Movie Blog days. I think your fans at least deserve that. Don't just surprise us with today is your last day that wouldn't be cool. We love you so much, and I think people deserve a farewell show for your loyal fans please think about it.
I think what might prevent the new Jurassic World movie from making a billion dollars is it having the Transformers effect. Both Dark of the Moon and Age of Extinction made over a billion dollars each but then The Last Knight made about half of what those movies made.
Captain America will make money. not a billion, but a sizable amount. would love to be proven otherwise because I've been waiting to see Sam take that shield for 10 years, and I love Anthony Mackie.
Based on your list here's what I'm guessing (these are broad because we don't have footage or much marketing for a lot of these): Thunderbolts $600m - $700m Cap 4 $600m - $750m Superman $550m - $750m Fantastic Four $600m - $800m Lilo and Stitch $450m - $700m Wicked: For Good $650m - $900m Zootopia 2 $1b - $1.3b Jurassic World: Rebirth $900m - $1.1b Michael $500m - $800m Avatar 3 $1.6b - $2b Also, I disagree that it's ok if Superman makes $400m or anything less than Aquman 2 ($439m) because that would leave people questioning the point of a reboot (even if Superman is great, which is what's most important). A flop is such bad press for a movie universe to start off of and $400m is not much for a big comic book movie. Iron Man 1 made $585m and Man of Steel made $670m, so Superman should be somewhere in the range of those 2 movies.
Someone once told me any movie that made under 3 billion is a flop, decades later after learning more about movies i realized.....that's every movie ever made.
2:05 agatha season two possibility 8:15 batman brave and the bold dekayed without an original release date 19:06 2025 poasible billion dollar movies 1:02:52 viewer questions
I don't think Agatha needs to have a body in the next season, but reality being what it is, they will probably have some explanation, like that as her powers as a ghost grow, she can make herself materialize fully thereby reducing the cg budget.
John, I heavily disagree with you on Superman. It has no baggage, and people didn't "abandon the dc movies" the dceu movies just looked like generic garbage and people were sick of mid superhero movies which is why Ant Man 3 and The Marvels flopped but Deadpool 3 could still make a billion. Or why Eternals and Shang Chi had mediocre box office but No Way Home still made alnost 2 billion Its a SUPERMAN movie, it should and can make a billion dollars. Being good doesnt even matter because weve seen tons of good movies flop and tons of bad movies succeed (The last jedi and rise of skywalker made a billion)
I think that Gunn has tried to do the best Superman film that he could make and in the end he has no control over what the public or the critics might think of it but i think everybody at WB are looking at box office numbers not at how many love it.Every movie is hated by someone and every movie is loved by someone but in the end this is a business.
Thanks for answering the question at the end. I was watching a hour behind the live stream and I heard you say that Superman's box office was less important than getting on board and wanted to get your thoughts. Happy New Year y'all.
Sure but the first one made over 1 bill, so there is nothing to celebrate if the sequel make 600 mill less.If the first of the new DCU makes 400 mill, that's a good thing.
@VesnaLukic-h8w idk I think John is right that the reception is just as important but I think $400M is still too low. I think $600M at the very least tbh
@SuperMayne25 no..I have my own thoughts..for example,Spiderverse are not my top spiderman movies..especially the second one.But with this one topic,I agree with him.
It's more likely that Avatar: Fire and Ash makes 2 billion than half of the movies on this list make one billion. I personally don't get it, but it's hard to argue against the data.
I'm sorry, but I just don't trust the studio to say that a $450 million dollar box office for Superman is good enough as long as fans and critics liked it. I think their takeaway would be, "here we go again" and start to try and course correct in an attempt to chase bigger box office results.
Good thing the studio never said anything of the sort because this is just John's take on the movie and the sort of expectation he thinks WB might have for it
@mrbrightside2937 Yes, exactly. I'm glad they've never said that as well and hoping it makes enough money to where we don't have to find out what they would do.
Edit: Its truly fascinating. Its baffling how many people I see in comment sections crying about Avatar being terrible and nobody liked the second one and crying "woke" about it. And the culture wars nonsense in general. Its just hilarious we still have people pretending that nobody likes Avatar. Talk about denying reality. In general. Absolutely hyped for jurassic park. Even when they are meh, I still love them. They are that franchise for me. And I have full confidence in those attached behind the scenes and in front. And then the MCU projects. What I'm most hyped for.
Happy new year Team John campea I would like to give me 2 cents on your top 10 list: 1: Avatar: Fire and Ash: Locked 2/3: Micheal/Jurassic World: Rebirth: They both have big ip name, and Micheal has his nephew as the lead role and Jurassic World has Scar-Jo and TWO-Time academy award winner.......Blade 4/5: Zootopia 2/Lilo and Stich: they both have big I.P. Youre right in mentioning that these movies would/could be a 4 quadrant demographic audiance. 6: Wicked Part 2. I have personally seen the stage production and I am uncertain how the second half could match the level part 1 has set. 7: Thunderbolts: The trailer and marketing has been fantastic. This movie has an amazing ensemble of characters and cast and everyone looks like their having fun. 8: Superman: The trailer was fantastic, but it has so much on its shoulder being the new beginning for the franchise. 9: Captain America: Brave New World: Its not Steve Rogers 10: Fantastic Four: First step, its a new start to the franchise, and like dc, its name has been marred by 3 bad previous movies
Again, Campea is underestimating the box office of Superman 2025. I'm not guaranteeing it will make a billion dollars. And he's absolutely right that the smell of the DCEU has a small shadow over the movie in winning back audiences to DC movies. But the Superman trailer was the fifth most viewed trailer in movie history. The Rock gave it away that Henry Cavill's Superman will show up in the post credit scene of Black Adam, and nobody gave a fuck to show up to see it. People gave up on the DCEU. But when that many people, fans and general audience watch the Superman trailer, that shows at least interest in the movie.
18:20 I don’t think they have him cast yet, James said they wouldn’t cast until they had a finished script for any film. If Andy is comfortable enough to write something completely separate while waiting for a finished script from DC, then I don’t think there is a world where Batman is cast. I think we will likely see him cast sometime in the month following the release of Superman with an announcement later in the year or maybe into 2026.
Do you think the Live Action How to Train Your Dragon has a shot? Also, I think Captain America Brave New World may not even make it to $500 million worldwide. I think without Steve Rogers and with the behind the scenes struggles, it’ll have a hard time being successful
If they would chsnge the story around Snow White, and make her more like Snow White and the Huntman, people would hate it.People love when their belovrd classics stay that way.
Happy New Year 🥳… I think this is a make or break year for Marvel. My prediction Thunderbolts and Captain America are going to struggle to break 650m. Fantastic Four has the best chance at 1B but depends if it can build hype and avoid the Marvel Backlash Brigades. Hope Marvel can turn the cinematic universe around but an uphill battle.
lets not worry about it? after you say your going to announce retirement randomly at the end of any given episode lol I'd love a more ceremonial last episode from a viewer perspective, but hey do your thing, and will still look forward to whatever things you put out here and there hoping you still talk movies in some capacity, cause like others have mentioned, it really would be a hard stop off a cliff this practically being a daily routine for years at this point lol.
Hi John, hope you have a good day. Just want to recommend 'The Count of Monte Cristo' (2024, French film btw) which was lit. You can even say that it is Batman-esque movie that sets in 19th century. Give it a try.
Michael is UNDOUBTEDLY gonna make a billion dollars! He's LITERALLY the biggest pop star that ever lived! And he's being played by a nephew who looks very similar.... Yes the whole world is hitting the theaters for this one!!!
Respectfully John, you're 20 years in the game. I respect and understand you want to focus on the show. That is something to be celebrated. To give the fans to properly thank you for your hard work, dedication, and sacrifice you made doing this career. Now, if you don't want to make it a big deal and leave the door open in case you want to come back because there is a movie you just want to discuss, then I get that too. Stop playing with our emotions, Mann 😒.
I'm sorry but Ms Marvel isn't that great. It's subjective of course but John loves that show but everyone i talk to don't see it that way. It's not awful but yeah, i don't find it one of the best.
One problem with Michael how will Michael Jackson’s nephew’s performance turn out? Just because he looks like him doesn’t mean he will give a good performance.
I think they'd only do that if there were several years in between films. If it's around a year between each part, there's no need to re-release the first one in theatres. Many many films have sequels that come out without having to re-release the previous one.
Nope he only gave the release date to Superman and as John clearly says in the video, Gunn has said no release date will be announced until the studio has a script that they like
Nah, I don't think Michael is hitting a billion. 1. It's a biopic. What biopic has ever made a billion? 2. A lot of controversy around MJ now, a lot of people don't want to support him/his legacy.
Avatar the way of water is my most favorite film of all time And I am someone I thought the film would flop I said “who the hell wants to see this film . No one cares anymore” I was so wrong
@SaltyLibTearsRGood if I talk to most of my family and friends though (general movie goers), I bet most of them won't know about that drama and what she said. Heck, I barely know about it because I don't care to follow that.
@@moviereedviews well I got blocked previously for pointing this out, my wife is Latina and she is so not down for an actress playing in a remake of a movie she is crapping on all commy like
No offense, but this list is laughable. The only guaranteed billion-dollar movie is 'Avatar: F&A'... The question is.. does it join the two-billion-dollar club,,,
I’m surprised any of the 2025 MCU films are on the list. Not even The Winter Soldier with Chris Evans could get close to a billion, so the idea that Brave New World could surpass it is silly. None of the guardians films did either and those are far more beloved characters than those in Thunderbolts. Fantastic 4 has one of the worst CBM IP track records, so the odds of a 4th cinematic attempt becoming a breakout $billion hit seems highly unlikely.
He's talking about "chances" as in "it's possible", not as "those will probably all hit $1B". Remember movies like Barbie? Mario bros? We can never predict with certainty which ones are gonna hit this mark. There is a foreseeable possibility that movies like Superman get to 1 billion.
@@alexp601 OMG... so triggeredddddd!!! Again, you'll need to read what I commented before getting so triggered... "this list is laughable" the art between "Possible" vs "Probable", bless your 💗
13:20 If James Gunn isn't announcing release dates until scripts are finished how come The Batman 2 has a release date even though Matt Reeves has not finished writing his script for it?
🤔 The Batman 2 was also announced prior to Gunn becoming Co Ceo, maybe its just one of those by products of studios needing to reserve release date space years in advance thier films coming out and expected Reeves to be done with the script in time.
Interesting stat from reading billion dollar movies from Box Office Mojo there have only been 55 billion dollar plus movies. Of them only 15 were not a sequel and of those 15, 3 where live action remakes. Just interesting facts that I didn't know until I looked into the movies because of the billion dollar topic! On top of that of those 55 billion dollar films, only 8 have been since the beginning of 2020 idk why I thought there were more in the 2020's. Covid really did kill the movie theater rise's since the first billion dollar film in 1993 (Jurassic Park)
What happy pills is John on? Michael is not making anywhere near a billion. Will it get a hell of a lot of views when it gets to streaming? Probably. But a non-event movie hitting a billion is not going to happen.
I'm certainly one of those that hated both of the Avatar movies - but in general people love them. The next one is basically guaranteed to break a billion. Easily the safest movie to bet on.
People on the social media are often very loud about hating the Avatar movies, but it's a textbook loud minority. It kind of became cool in film fandom spaces that hate on it, but those opinions aren't a reflection of the general moviegoing audience opinion. Audiences in general, love the Avatar franchise. Both Avatar films crossed the 2 billion mark with the first being the highest grossing film of all time and Way of Water being the the third highest grossing film of all time. Unless Avatar 3 a turns out to be a rare stumble by James Cameron, it's the safest bet to cruise past the billion mark.
My guy if bohemian rapsody made 900m, Michael is 100% making 1 billion. It might hit 1.5 billion lmao. Come on now. Many movies have made at least close to a billion that arent rewatch in the theater type of films
If Bohemian Rhapsody can make 900m than Michael can make easily crack $1B. Not sure about the US but he has fans all around the world. His music videos hitting 1B views.
No lifelong Leafs fan would ever be caught dead in another team's jersey. Your fandom polygamy is deeply offensive. Being a true fan of a team is like a marriage: "for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health." Team loyalty makes the victories mean more.
I'm sorry but Agatha was lame. Not interested in anymore of that kinda show. There are plenty of actual superheroes Marvel can pull from, and should. Now something like Heroes For Hire would be more like it.
Did you actually watch it or no? Because you're making it sound like you didn't see it, and people said it was good. You can say it looks lame of course, but if you havent seen it you just sound like a hater lol. Just because it isn't a hero or concept that's popular instantly makes it lame lol? if it's a good show who the fuck cares. If it was a terrible show, kinda like Ms Marvel or She Hulk (which was alright), then I'd get why you call it lame. But this one was good.
No one cares about brave new world at all . Only five people do marvel is so out of touch with there fandom . Im not interested in it either cause it doesn't work . Falcon as cap makes no sense . If bucky was cap I would watch that 5 times in theaters. Reason?? Because bucky makes sense he's a super soilder he can throw the shield etc . Sam can't . And him getting a suit from wakanda makes even less sense marvel is breaking there own canon with this movie .
F***king had me for a sec man! 😂 I was thinking Avatar before you said Snow White. Good one man! Never bet against Jimmy C!

Based on your list here's what I'm guessing (these are broad because we don't have footage or much marketing for a lot of these):

Zootopia 2 $1b - $1.3b
Jurassic World: Rebirth $900m - $1.1b

10:30 correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t James Gunn in his initial video give a general release area of 2027-2028
Nope he only gave the release date to Superman and as John clearly says in the video, Gunn has said no release date will be announced until the studio has a script that they like
I don't think Cap 4 will make a billion. But time will tell.
JOHN DONT LEAVE LIKE THIS
Nice list
It sounds like the interview was not in English. So it could be a translation error.
Nah, I don't think Michael is hitting a billion. 1. It's a biopic. What biopic has ever made a billion? 2. A lot of controversy around MJ now, a lot of people don't want to support him/his legacy.
I thought Avatar had been bumped then 😂😂😂😂
Falcon ain’t making no bill
How to Train Your Dragon will make way more money than Cap 4, or Fantastic 4
Avatar the way of water is my most favorite film of all time
And I am someone I thought the film would flop I said “who the hell wants to see this film . No one cares anymore” I was so wrong
But...how can they have cast a batman for a script that doesn't exist yet?!?!
Soooooo John is saying there’s a chance for 2026 videos 😗
Moon Knight was disappointing. I was hoping for better. Mayber, it will get better.
I know he was joking, but I'm actually surprised Snow White isn't included for the reasons he mentioned.
Snow White will flop. You can't have your lead actress tell half the country "I hope you never know peace" and expect a hit 😂
@SaltyLibTearsRGood if I talk to most of my family and friends though (general movie goers), I bet most of them won't know about that drama and what she said. Heck, I barely know about it because I don't care to follow that.
@@moviereedviews well I got blocked previously for pointing this out, my wife is Latina and she is so not down for an actress playing in a remake of a movie she is crapping on all commy like
@@moviereedviews funny because my casual movie going coworkers have pretty much all heard about the dumb shit she's said lol
I can’t wait for zootopia 2 that will make a billion and no zootopia is not overrated!!
The list wasn't about 'guaranteed' billion-dollar films. You have to actually listen to what John says before you complain.
@@alexp601 OMG... so triggeredddddd!!!
Again, you'll need to read what I commented before getting so triggered... "this list is laughable" the art between "Possible" vs "Probable", bless your

@VersusSEED Fair point
Captain Falcon will gross somewhere in the neighborhood of $345-620 million.
It's definitely not making below 500 million. 😂
Ah, yes... It'll definitely make somewhere between $0-$58 billion. Definitely.
I think Micheal reaches 850-900 but I’m not so sure it gets to a billion
None of these superhero films are reaching the billion dollar club this year.
I think Superman might be the closest, but yeah I don't think any of them will either.
Covid really did kill the movie theater rise's since the first billion dollar film in 1993 (Jurassic Park)
my kids and wife hate lilo and stich they said its too scary
What happy pills is John on? Michael is not making anywhere near a billion. Will it get a hell of a lot of views when it gets to streaming? Probably. But a non-event movie hitting a billion is not going to happen.
OK, got to the part where I need to give you a replacement movie for the list. Well how about the fact you left HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON OFF THE LIST.
I will return for this comment. See you
I think k you're really underestimating Michael Jackson's fame
I will also return to this comment next year, to see who was right 🤔
They should have made stitch look better than that. He looks like a ugly sonic version of stitch.
I thought people didn't like Avatar 2, because everyone was complaining about it.
I thought people didn't like Avatar 1 because everyone was complaining about it. 😂
Sorry Michael is not going to hit a billion. What helps these billion dollar movies is rewatches. Micis one and done
My guy if bohemian rapsody made 900m, Michael is 100% making 1 billion. It might hit 1.5 billion lmao. Come on now. Many movies have made at least close to a billion that arent rewatch in the theater type of films
You can't say it isn't rewatchable or good or anything about it, without seeing it first.
You sports fans are so brain dead.
Professional sports is quite literally a detriment to society as a whole. Maybe obsess over something that actually matters.
1:20:20 I'm glad I'm not the only one.
I liked the end twist that the Witches road was a myth that Agatha had created and that the one shown in the series was actually created by Billy.
Nah. Agatha is legit one of the best things in the MCU.
The chase scene in episode 1 gave me flashback of Kenobi. Had to turn it off…
Cool Story bro.
You mean you don't care. 😂
I care looking forward to it.
