At one point you had a Belted Kingfisher flying down the river in front of you....they are common and you are probalbly witnessing them daily....bank dwellers......I am enjoying your jounrney....
For all your travels, for all your videos...this one is the tops! So much wildlife, and fun...and tons of joy. Thank you, seriously...thank you for bringing all of us along on this leg of the journey. It was EPIC! Wherever you are, whatever you're doing...I hope you're having fun! Beautiful video, truly beautiful!
A 'rafter' of turkeys. Weird! To my thinking it should be a 'gobble'. Those calm, cold mornings were beautiful and being solo and quiet when you didn't have to talk to us, you got to see the wildlife. Thank you.
That’s awesome that you came through my home town!!! Goldsboro I go to Cliffs of the Neuse all the time. 😁😁😁. I’ve enjoyed watching you on your journey. Inspiring. Also… I think the “Beaver” you saw was actually a Nutria. I think the birds may have been Kingfishers. I could be wrong. 🙂
Hi! Yes, I don't think I had ever been to Goldsboro before. I enjoyed the stop. The birds were definitely kingfishers. I was able to verify that one later. I really loved watching them. I do think the beaver was a beaver because I'm pretty sure I saw its flat beaver tail. But now I'm less certain. I had never heard of a nutria before. Had to look that one up. Thanks for the introduction!
11:09 That was a good guess, but I think those are just temporary construction platforms to hold the cranes while they work on the bridge. You can see they are kind of haphazardly slapped together. Once the construction is done, they will just tear them down. It was probably one of those hawks that took a bit out of the fish.
I could write a long comment about this video because there were so many highlights,.. the views at the beginning, wildlife, Nate working remotely (lucky dude), the lack of mud, etc. And boom,.. non-intended long comment.
Just two comments on your hands hurting and arms getting tired. Are you holding the paddle in a death grip? If you are or holding the paddle too tight that will cause your hands hurting. As far as your arms may be getting tired. The only reason you have arms to paddle is to connect the paddle to your torso. Kayaking forward motion is from torso rotation. Your arms will naturally bend some during paddling but you should not be using your arms exclusively to move the paddle thru the water I have almost 20 years paddling experience; hope this helps.
Thanks. I don't think I had it in a death grip but possibly. And the arms weren't really too bad. Good kind of tired. And yes I definitely feel it in the rest of my upper body as well.
Blue birds are kingfishers. So serene!
Yes I eventually figured that out. So cool!

Yes! I eventually was able to discover that the blue bird I became so fond of was the belted kingfisher.
Great film thanks, again so much wildlife! Really enjoyable to watch, thanks again. 🖖👍👊😊
You're welcome! Glad you liked it!
You are an inspiration. The fog over the water in this episode and the birds of prey were gorgeous.
Thank you. I agree, so much beauty on this river!

Thanks so much! That's high praise! It's my pleasure to bring you along.

Interesting. I like gobble as well. You're welcome. I'm glad you liked it.
That's so cool Nate is able to support you like that. You'll have to do a video just about him.
Haha, it is cool and he would make a good feature. A whole video might go to his head. 😜
What a beautiful sight those early mornings with the river ‘on fire’.
So cool!

Awesome!
😁
You need the bike helmet to complete your Storm Trooper look.
That would do it. Hopefully I don't need a helmet for flat water paddling.

That does make more sense on the strange bridge. Someone else told me that it also could have been an even bigger catfish that got the fish.

There definitely was a lot to see! And hah, yes Nate is a lucky dude. Which made me pretty lucky too.
Yes I second the bird as a Kingfisher. The chatter gives them away.
Yes, a new favorite of mine.
