BBC Election 2019 ("Arthur" Theme) | Piano Bash

It's back for 2019! Rick Wakeman's classic "Arthur" opened BBC Election coverage from 1979 to 2005, and after a gap of 3 general elections, it returns this year. The BBC commissioned Rick to rearrange and re-record the track for each election - and according to rumour, the only reason it disappeared in 2010 was because he was fed up of reworking it. My cover is based on the version used in 1992.

That’s a very tough hard rendition for the piano, possibly David Lowe used a keyboard or computer to build the notes, prior to writing for full orchestral scores, none the less, full marks to you for attention to detail, and the notes on those keys 👍.

The story I heard was the BBC wanted to charge Rick Wakeman for the privilege of letting them use it, and he told them to sod off!

The theme for the election coverage starting at 2155 GMT Thursday the 12 December. It is also the five min warning for the joint broadcasters exit pool. Isop and mori, for sky, ITV, and the BBC. They will have pulled about 20 to 30k people at about 144 polling locations. The results are about Plus or. Minus 2 percent, 19 time out of 20. 1992 it was way off, the poll said hung parliment, instead it was a Tory victory.
