i don't simply care what others think - this is only my opinion - to do "carmen" in opera stage is totally different thing compare to this. this is pure art. simply magnificent!! katarina was and is the only one skater who can do this in right way on ice. she is so much more than just a skater. beautiful, class, stylish, elegant, great personality and her smile like "carmen" simply irresistable true lady! nobody else can't even try to repeat this, because they just don't have it, what this performance requires, that kind of artistic skills and also actress skills and you have to flirt in right way. she has all these things. she "stole" my heart a long time ago. with many thanks to Hyacinth B. for posting this. simply incredible performance for so many skaters, brian orser, brian boitano and katarina witt.BRAVO!!!
These days Alina Zagitova resembles Katarina so much! I'd like to see her as Carmen in a show like this. I can't agree that Katarina was an 'ice princess'. She was a pure FIRE on ice. The skating itself wasn't dynamic enough to look like flamenco. Now this show might not seem breathtaking like the modern ones but it was a masterpiece of that great era of Brians and Katarina 💔

Orser's fantasy sequence of stealing Boitano's girl... More like Boitano's Olympic Gold! Poor kid, I thought his Calgary programs were just as good, and apparently the Silver medal, like, destroyed him emotionally... So glad he's become a freakin' coaching powerhouse in his post-skating career! I love how they always show him jumping around at the boards... Love him.
Well, I watched this to laugh my butt off. As a hater of all skating shows (except sports competitions), a lover of Bizet's opera (Leontyne Price being my favorite Carmen - sue me), and loving Carlos Saura's film "Carmen" best of all, I was prepared to watch a travesty. Katarina Witt, the German ice-princess, playing one of the most fiery characters in history? Seriously? This will be SO bad. And it was terrific. Oh, dear; prejudices slapped down by fine performances all around and a sincere desire to convey the actual work/story without simple-minded Ice Capade nonsense. (I was roped into one as a kid and scarred for life.) Witt made a great Carmen, too, and the flamenco-ish ice moves must have been very difficult to do. Orser was brilliant. I'll recommend this production to others, and watch them faint with shock. Thanks for uploading.

Queen Mao Asada I always preferred Orser to Boitano but those white pants and skate covers 🙈 I hope they made it worth his while
