    And for all those pull your boots up by your straps types of people, this has been in the works for decades. So don't tell me about black people not applying themselves! If you own and run the game, then you can change the rules! And there ain't a damn thing you can do about it!

      You are absolutely positively correct! Back in the middle 90’s an old white man (probably in his 70’s) sitting at a bus stop told me all about the “game” being played. It’s not by accident. It’s to bring the white population back into the cities, while pushing out the low income population. A typical 100 year plan!

      And it’s happening nationwide!

      @Sudhir Kakar. You write like an ignorant fool with zero knowledge of labor market trends or economics. Do you comprehend how many people in the USA (with Masters Degrees & higher) are under-employed or have been displaced from their main fields-of-work? Do you comprehend how many non-tenured university instructors & professors are living paycheck-to-paycheck (or having to draw upon social services assistance)? Go sit the hell down & go obtain a well-rounded education!

      WHERE ARE YOUR VALID (& CURRENT) REFERENCES TO SUPPORT ANY OF THE INACCURATE NONSENSE YOU'VE ESPOUSED (in this discussion string)??
      AT THIS POINT, YOU'VE REALLY PLACED YOUR ANALYTICAL APTITUDE INTO SERIOUS QUESTION & I DON'T "DEBATE" FOOLS & IDIOTS.

      @Sudhir Kakar. Boy, You're STILL yapping FUCKERY with little or NO valid data, literature, research journal articles, or even credible newspaper articles to support your beLIEfs. You pitiful piece-of-shyt up here on YT attempting to "debate" folks who are wayyy above your caliber. HaHa...

    Gentrification is perceived as bad by definition. It is not bad if you have choices..... In fact, educated citizens, regardless of race, should embrace and appreciate why market forces create need to rebuild neighborhoods. I'd rather live in a clean and well kept neighborhood, than one which too many idle people are misbehaving in obvious ways, which leads to crime. If that's a gentrified neighborhood, I'll take it. The trick is, you need six figures to live in such a neighborhood.

    As a single Mom that's been a resident of Orlando FL since 2009
    NO it is ❌NOT. Residents of Montgomery, &Prince George's Counties are still being swamped with people that can't afford to reside in their city. Attended MarieReed, LincolnJH & Cardozo High School's, I lived in Adams Morgan & Hst N.E. corridor both of which I wouldn't recognize if I were to return to visit D.C. today. What was once Malcolm X (African LiberationDay was celebrated yearly each Spring) it's since called Meridian Hill Park. Caribbean Festival & Georgia Ave Day both are GONE. Relocation for me was inevitable I couldn't raise my child in what 😓USE to be home. #DontMuteDC proves there is social tension from outsiders that have relocated there. Native Floridians say the same for those that come here frm elsewhere for lesser cost of living &better weather.

    Gentrification on my sister block in DC on Capital Hill, reduce crime and drug selling by her home. I literally witness a guy, got out of his vehicle with a shotgun and fire a blast up the street at @ noon on a Saturday. Best thing that has happen in DC is gentrification. Drug dealers are gone !

    Anyone with any knowledge of DC's modern history should know that it's an astronomically better and safer city to live in now than it was 20-30 years ago. Does gentrification bring some consequences, yes, but was D.C. in dire need of private investiment a generation back and has it benefitted in so many ways from what it's received in the time since then? Indisputably, yes to both.

    Hell, it’s going on in rural East TN towns right now.
    People fleeing from liberal hell holes, paying wayyy over asking price for homes and driving up prices to a point that there’s no way to afford rent on local wages.

    The mayor can limit the number of new people who come in!!!! They should NOT force oldest people to move out nor should the area be over priced for middle income people!!!

    • @TWE_2000
      @TWE_2000 Рік тому +2

      The mayor cannot do that. Like the rest of the US, Americans are free to buy and sell their homes and move. They do not need permission to move cities

    See urban renewal. Specifically south west Washington, Georgetown and Foggy Bottom.
    Affordable housing is a joke in the District of Columbia. Gentrification and its orchestration through real estate speculators, investors and local government leadership was in full tilt by the late 70s.
    Do the research.

    Look up The Woodlands Texas Community plans and learn how it should work. I love it here we have room for Millionaires and working-class people and all have a place to live. We have some of the biggest corporations headquartered here and yet everyone has access to everything in our community

    Why do you think gentrification will close down the open air drug market? The newly gentrificated Districts will welcome the convenience of open air drug markets.
    Do you think drug usage is only done by the Poor?

      @Neo Anderson
      FACT:
      Gentrification replaced low income housing.
      Gentrification never happens in rich district.
      FACT:
      Poor people live in low income neighborhoods.
      FACT:
      Gentrification started in the 70's, which coincides with the beginning of the homeless problem.
      FACT:
      As the Gentrification has increased the homeless problem has exploded.
      FACT:
      Gentrification is pushing the poor into the street.
      FACT:
      Low income neighborhoods are the best places for the working poor to live because of access to work and mass transit.

    Gentrification is good for me. I started buying dc real estate in 2005 when i was only 25 years old. I make money from rentals and i just sold my penn quarter condo and made $150k profit. I don’t even live in dc anymore but i’ll continue to play this property game there
