- The sad and lonely sounding, Halo Wars Multiplayer Menu Song. *I do not own the rights to this song.* *All credit goes to Stephen Rippy and all others that worked on the Halo Wars Soundtrack.*
It's amazing how a company forced to make a Halo game (Ensemble Studios) was able to capture the feeling of Halo while also giving it it's own identity. It took 343 10 years to do that and that's after years of being told they're getting it wrong.
Ensambe Studios died making Halo Wars. Even when they should have given up, they kept trying to talk to Bungie about getting everything lore accurate and right. They really cared about Halo.
I wish Ensamble Studios took the lead. They wanted to fit their ideas into Halo. Halo Wars as a whole was basically just rebuilding a really old version for Halo. 343i seems to want to lead Halo into a completely new direction, and its annoying.
I swear to god I've been looking for this song for like 5 years. Brings tears to my eyes man :')
+Dom Dal Right!? It wasn't even in the soundtrack album!
@@reauxbo1528 very very late response lmao but it’s actually included in the “Flollo” song in the soundtrack it’s the whole song but there’s a little bit of upbeat but u can definitely hear it
I sit on the Steam version, staring at the skirmish menu, I've set up the game I wish to play, before clicking the begin match button, I just sit and listen to this track. It takes me back to 8 years ago when I first played Halo Wars, it was a much, much simpler time, I was happy and carefree, now here I am, approaching my mid 20s, that spark of life I had is long gone, events that occurred over the course of 8 years took that away from me, I feel as if I've become bitter rather than the pleasant individual I knew I once was.
I wish I could go back, but I can't, no matter how hard I try, but we can all try to move forward, no matter how hard it is and make the best out of what we have.
Jamie B i feel the same bro
the power of halo music. so many people blow these soundtracks as simple menu music that is meant for a mindless video game. it is always more. Why cant video soundtraxks be considered masterpieces? this is a ckear example that they do spark the mind. they are thought provoking unlike what basic media believes.
fuck dude....
Oddly enough, I feel the same. I was a Junior in High School when I first got this game back in 2009. 11 years later im nearing the age of 28 and nothing but nostalgia hits me like a truck when listening to this track. Ive gone through a lot of hardships and lost a few loved ones (best friends and immediate family) along the way BUT im still here and am living my life for them as well as myself, to the best that I can.
Thanks for sharing your comment man!
@@thesilentcartographer5575 Hey, I just wanted to respond to you. Your comment resonated with me quite a bit. I'd of replied sooner but UA-cam is oddly picky about informing me which comments get replies.
I typed up that comment in a rather dark mindset, I wasn't doing too well, I wont go into specifics but I was sad and a walking sack of uncertainty and really yearning for days gone by like I just wanted another chance at somethings, all caused by this soft piano music track from a sci-fi RTS game.
Since that comment, I won't lie, I had a pretty nasty year following it. Like you, a lot of loved ones left my life, but also like you, I've held my head up and keep living for them and myself. Sitting around feeling sorry for yourself won't get anything done, but living each day to the best you can, enjoying what you have and who you have, that can be all you need!
I hope you're doing alright wherever you may be and I also hope this year hasn't effected you in a horrible way, good luck to you and keep your head up and maybe that spark of life still glows every now and then!
we will never get the old days back.
We will soon. I’m a small Game designer and when I show how games should me made once my company and my games grow, company’s will see that if they do what I do then they get good ratings. If they just learn. I know this sounds crazy but when I make it known I’m not like the company’s who ruin games with agenda and other ways, then people will check my games out.
And the company’s will make their games like games were mad back then.
@@GAM3RK1NG. What is the name of your company? And what games have you made or worked on so far?
@@GAM3RK1NG. best of luck
@@GAM3RK1NG. No offense but your comment reads like it was written by a kid. "I'll just do it the right way and then EVERYONE will see how easy it is! I'm not like the rest of them!" I'm curious, have you ever worked on a game or is this just your day dreams?
Reminds of how empty Halo Wars multiplayer is..
It could be revamped and repopulated in honor and preparation of Halo Wars 2.
yeah bro i just started playing cuz halo wars 2 beta brought me in. i always thought halo wars was spartan assault for some reason
u suck anyway
@@marshalldon9705 That’s rude!
@@marshalldon9705 and where does THAT put you at, softy?
Listening to this with some light rain in the background is one of the most beautiful things I've heard and honestly just makes me reflect on my past, my present, and my future. I love all you guys
The feels. So beautiful. Amazingly composed for such a simplistic tune. Perfection through simplicity.
Some of my friends got me playing halo wars when it was put on the game pass and this was the first track i heard, what a masterpiece it is.
Why does this song hit different? Like Halo 3 gets my teary eyed but this song just makes me feel even more feels
It’s empty, like the vastness of space.
Honestly, I could listen to this for thirty minutes while driving.
This will always mean a lot to me, me and my brother used to run home from school to split screen Halo together, my favourite thing. He's off at uni now and the servers are dead.
Rest in piece, masterpeace. Also, how’s you’re brother doing? did he pass uni?
@@GAM3RK1NG. he's still there doing a master's in pharmacy , I'm at uni now too doing engineering life goes quick
Still here, 5 years on... keep moving forward
gave me the chills
we got this.
halo wars and halo 123 were the best because we all have good memories of those great games halo 4 and 5 they just aint the same no more
I know this comment is old, I'm going to agree with you. Halo is really losing its good ol touch. These new halo games just don't feel like halo games. I have the old halo games (master chief collection, reach, and halo wars) I still enjoy playing them to this day and will never die for me.
Any who still play the OG halo games, you rock.
I still own and from time to time still played the original halo
@@Therealredknight1 nice
I’ll never forget the late nights with my good friends running 3v3 and someone got tired and me and my other bud stayed up later and ran 2v2. Or when this game came out how excited we were being big fans of RTS and Halo never imagining the 2 would cross over and discovering all the units and what strats work or playing legendary co-op campaign...that was 11 years ago now.....wow
After 4 years, and even having the game on Xbox 360 just for this music is beautiful, I thank you for having this even as time has past. Halo wars will always have a place forever in my halo collection in my top 3
I imagine a man lost in a pure white desert, seeing shapes of his family, friends, and others form out of sand, but everytime he tries to get close they disappear...
That is Soo Deep Son! That is So Deep! Bravo!
Ben Hiccup mate are you being sarcastic
@@franzferdinand1393 Probably not, it is deep.
I'm actually currently playing the game as I type this, trying to search for a game in 2019 and cant find none, it legit says " halo wars players: 0" I remember it being at least like 875. This game was a good game
i just recently bought the revamp on steam and the popiulation there is low too. actually, its almost as if there are more players on the 360 version than the newer pc version. campaign was still great.
This makes me think about life
This track is so hauntingly pretty. I can imagine a marine dying in the snow, seeing all of the death and destruction that war brings as he succumbs to his injuries.
It sounds like if you were falling down flat out facing skyward, arms extended fully out and mouth slightly parted with a puzzled look of despair and profound sadness. Falling down forever into a perpetual void of nothingness... Damn
So peaceful. And depressing. Like you could feel like either and relate to this. Looking back at the good old days of your life. Or finally finding peace. Finally finding someone you love and you can sit down and appreciate it. Or worse. You lost the person you love. And now you’re sitting alone, quite and peaceful still. But no joy
This song is beautiful.. But for some reason it also makes me feel sad. It makes me think of all the fuck ups and all the things I regret. All the things I would have changed if I had the chance... I just feel emptiness..Its beutiful and I love the tune.. But I just feel that way... I don't know why
My buds just went off to college and except for talking to them through Discord I don't see them anymore since they're a couple hours away. This song reminds me of the past and how things have changed so fast.
@@graysonrichter9210 deep man deep. But I understand perfectly
Me too bro, it hits so fucking hard. Hope all is well for you guys
I swear this reminds me of sad things that had past in my life
Same
I feel that pain.
It almost makes you feel how irrelevant we are as individuals. Being small and not being able to do the big things in life. Stuck on an endless loop of doing the small easy things while we dream of becoming something better. It's sad but it smacks you back to reality... When will we break out of this loop. To break free. To be something. Someone. To leave your touch on the world.
I just played halo wars with friends on pc for the first time and we are all in love with this song 🥰
Hearing this just tears me up bro ... The good old days 🥺
listening to this track now in 2021 my father passed away and this just reminds me the good old times when he was alive, playing when he was in the living room and asked me for a water bottle, i really miss those times...
I remember getting the limited edition of this game for my birthday in 2009. It's really sad Halo Wars is basically a dead game now, this theme is very somber when alluding to this. Time really flies.
God I miss these days
It's pure heresy that every Halo Wars OST is on Spotify except for this one
you were very kind to me. miss you.
what a beautiful game for a beautiful time.
It almost wants me to cry, because of how much nostalga I get from this game. And how much fun I had with my friends. And I'll never see it again.
I come back to this song often reminds me playing this on my xbox 360, 10 years old, here I am 20 in 2020, this song just hurts me man
Nowadays... It takes 10 minutes to find a match on Halo wars... Its truly sad that this game is near its demise....
I still play....but I also just sit there in the screen to listen to this song as it make me think about the more likely and simple yet happy times I've had in my life. I've lost so many people and not it's just me. Alone
Only Halo could make an RTS's menus have somber piano tunes. One of the many things that make this franchise special
I've never played those games why does that make me so sad
Les éthérés it’s ok man
This music of humanity fighting the Covenant knowing they’re fighting a lost war, yet doing everything they can to survive
That we must wage constant war for our own survival...
This game is so amazing. Ive done atleast 30 to 40 bot skirmishes and the campaign an i still find myself listening to this, about to hit START on the xbox controller.
First time playing was when i was 6 or 7, on a beat up 360 disk. That stopped working, and years later my grandma got me another copy with the dlc. Still got it on my shelf. Now im 14 years old, and i play the xbox one definitive version to this day.
Bless you Ensemble, and sleep well Halo Wars, you deserve it.
Tranquility
HOLY FUCK IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOREVER
Welcome aboard, brother :D
War never ends
Only evolves
I am going to listen to this song for the rest of my life....a long with deference for darkness...
ooah
Ive been looking for this song since i was 12 and the game first released now im 21 sad to see this game not remastered or something it was remarkable halo wars 2 is revamp
It is remastered though?
@@nez4940 not yet sadly
Halo Infinite is here. While I am hyped, this music perfectly displays my anxiety about the game's success.
Rip to halo infinite. ‘Twas sad what they did.
only 14K views??????
What's the actual title of this song?
Spirit of fire
This song fits so well. I think it tells they story about humanity's survival because In lore humanity it at 30 billion by the end it was just 8 billion
Man….
ALL UNITS
So many memories...
When it came out my brother loved it, but back then I didn’t like it much because I was used to fps and other genres but some years later and I loved it, now a lot of years later and I still love it. One of the best games and my favorite RTS.
War won’t cease
Nostalgia😢
I was the asshole who Warthog rushed every game. For real tho Halo wars was great. I'm really impressed with Ensemble for pulling it off. I wish 343 could pull off the Halo feel aswell.
2020.... 🥺
OH my god......😥
Anyone down for a 3v3?
Still waiting?
Hey, odd question. Are you the person who used to make halo montages back in the day? I was talking about it with a friend of mine and for some reason I remembered your name but I dont know if the numbers are correct. I remember you (maybe) made a Halo 3 montage of me on an older name/account (shippo maybe?) that used Rise Against for the music. Re-education through labor or something like that. If this was you, I would love to try to get the file if you still have it. If it isnt you, just assume Im on some schizo rant and ignore this lmao
Its not the same without the random gunfire and other sfx that are also in the multiplayer menu.
Anyone else feel numb?
This game is my childhood. I played this game more than Minecraft when I was younger. I still play it sometimes today too. The whole soundtrack is awesome. I miss the days when I would get home from school and cram through homework to play this game.
😔😞😪
Honestly, I hate to say it but the Halo franchise is dead to me. It no longer has that same indescribable feeling back when Bungie was working on it. And this track plays in the back of my mind each time I boot up the original halo games.
Flollo?
Can we collectively agree that the unofficial name for this track should be:
Echoes of Stardust
or
Stardust & Echoes
This sounds like it belongs in minecraft
