    Please keep in mind that this video is only a guide and may not be a true representation of the expenditure of an average family of the same size living in Sydney. I encourage you to do your own research based on your family's needs.

    UPDATE: Having read some of your comments, I realise that I didn't do a good job of summarising this video and the total figure of our monthly expenses would appear unreasonably high - my apologies. I did mention that some of the costs are not ongoing, monthly costs so I should have factored that into the total. Minus things like uniforms (occasional cost), Private health (we recently cancelled our policy), clothes and hair (occasional costs),Pink slip (yearly one-off cost), the total is A$6,643. This is a more realistic picture of our month to month spending.
    You can compare the current cost to what we used to spend a few years ago. The difference is shocking!😮😮 ua-cam.com/video/8y8tZ2w9bEk/v-deo.html
    Please don't forget to like. Thanks for watching❤

    Hi. Chioma. Thanks for this video. You gave a lot of insight into living in Australia. Could you do a video of what it will cost per month to (1) stay in a 1-bedroom apartment in Australia for 1 person per month (including, light, water, gas and telephone). (2). How much of proof of fund does 1 person need to have/show to be considered for RP in Australia (3). What is the average salary for a cybersecurity consultant in Australia and how easy is it to get such job in Australia. Kindly do this video and I will be most grateful.

    8k mortgage repayments that's an almost $2M house. That must be very demanding for anyone who wants to start out in Sydney. How do people manage this? Is this where most immigrants live? Thanks a lot. Very informative video.

    • @lifewithchioma
      @lifewithchioma  6 місяців тому

      This is the result of 13 relentless interest rate hikes within the last year and half. The cash rate is now at 4.35%, many people are in mortgage distress. Well, immigrants are scattered all over Sydney.

    • @Jie-rz2hf
      @Jie-rz2hf 5 місяців тому +1

      A $2M house is very standard for a suburb in Sydney. Younger people can start out buying apartments or further out from the CBD where houses are just over $1M. With the current interest rate, many people are struggling.
      Also note that houses in Australia worth $2M are not mansions and look like crap.

    • @CaeruleaTigris
      @CaeruleaTigris 2 місяці тому +1

      Sydney is one of the most expensive housing markets in the world and the vast majority of people are not buying homes there. Renting would usually do you just fine but it has also become a little absurd in the past few years. In my experience, at least from when I lived there, the Western Sydney suburbs have the biggest immigrant populations, and that's a little cheaper but the area is "worse" and prices like that seem to be a Sydney standard I'm afraid. My advice to immigrants who want to buy in Australia eventually is "don't get your hopes up" and "avoid the major cities". That second one comes with the caveat that the big earning jobs (with the exception of everywhere jobs like being a GP) just aren't that common outside the big cities. Nevertheless, you'd even do better going to Brisbane, Adelaide or Perth over Sydney or Melbourne nowadays.

    • @lifewithchioma
      @lifewithchioma  6 місяців тому

      Yes, but minus all the occasional costs and one-off yearly payments, the more realistic figure is closer to the mid $6K mark. I realise I could have done better at summarising the cost. Thanks for watching.

    You must have a decent income in order to spend $8500 per month. What do you for living? Rent is expensive in Sydney. Can you really save money there? If so, it ain't easy or your husband is an M.D. thanks for showing us the reality of life in Australia. It's a hustle just like in North America where I live.

      Only public schools are free. Not private religious schools. For university, you can get a loan from the government, that is indexed to inflation.
