Speaking as an assistant psychologist here, I dont think enough people consider or know that a freeze response is just as natural and involuntary as fight/flight responses. The drivers background is irrelevant, because even the most streetwise person can freeze in a stressful moment. The reaction isn't by choice, its just the body's defense mechanism because they're in a state of panic. Some fight, others run, other people are paralysed with fear. Imagine that. You're in such fear that you can't move as quick as you want to escape. It's nuts. To be fair to the driver, it aint as if he can see there's a dangerous situation but wants to chill there.

Coming from road violence is DAILY either by you against you or someone you know💯 it becomes normal. UK police now are soft compared to 20-30 years ago, back then police violence was normal.
