    "Cottagecore" seems to be a cousin to "hygge." If hygge = winter cozy, then cottagecore = spring cozy. (Yes I know hygge in particular isn't *only* for winter. I'm speaking of the aesthetic which comes to mind first)

    LOL I have lived in one of the most isolated parts of the UK living this type of life - it's fabulous. But REALLY hard work! Chopping wood, bringing in coal, cleaning fires, insects all over the windows, wild weather, trying to rescue birds and bats from inside the house, melting snow for water because the water supply has frozen in the winter, being at the end of the line for repairs when the power fails (the longest was five days after being a storm one freezing winter - I had to work by candlelight), waking up to it being -20 in the kitchen and having to put things in the fridge to warm them up! But to make up for it there are the flowing dresses, wellies, home baking, and sketching wildflowers. Lovely.

    I used to live this aesthetic every summer as a kid when I visited my grandpa up in Grand Marais. My parents stayed at their house but my grandpa, his wife, and I would stay at his cabin in the woods. As a kid, I don't think I took advantage of it as much as I should have. But I fondly remember these memories.

    I love the feel of this aesthetic!!! I can see why I can't find yeast in the grocery store now!! Everyone is home baking bread!! But through all of this quarantining, I think if we look and can find a new way of living. A life that doesn't require many trips to the grocery store and now people seem to be picking up on more fresh fruit and vegetables now walking the dog with their partners or children is now an enjoyable act. There are no deadlines to meet or places to rush off to.

    I would never have thought that things like "frogcore", "honeycore" exist. I mean it's just little things that build aesthetic preferences? Is it safe to say that I can take, say, succulents and make up "succulentcore"? Also, a dumb question, how different is "-core" from "-punk"? Both have a meaning of something aesthetic to me. Those are sincere questions and I in no way mean to be rude, I just feel like I'm missing a lot of information D:

    • @findingagain
      @findingagain 3 роки тому +6

      To me, the difference betwee "-core" and "-punk" is that "-core" content has a much heavier emphasize on aesthetics. There is definitely aesthetics to groups like solarpunk, but action is the primary objective.

The unconventional way is expressing themselves through their art, food and style.

I grabbed a maroon colored one with a velvet backing ages ago that I've meant to sew into a messenger bag, but I might end up making books instead. Another place to look would be thrift stores as they usually have some faux leather jackets/pants/skirts/whathaveyou and it's a cheap, sustainable way of reusing already existing materials.

    First time I heard the term was in Animal Crossing game on the Switch. I often imagine a life in country side in small cottage surrounded by fields and trees. A garden filled with vegetables and fairy lights. I have grown in area with woodlands and fields. Sometimes I can see rabbits. The term maybe closed related with Zakka and fresh linen. I'm into the gothic romance magical forest but my themes tend to change depending on my moods.

    This is fascinating. I mean of course it has a name! I just didn't know what that was. lol I live in WA state and have trail heads across the street to my house. It's nothing over the top. While you can go deep enough to escape the visual assault of suburbia, you can still smell your neighbor's dryer sheets. lol But there are two comfy green Adirondack chairs in a small opening (still in the woods) and if you go and sit quietly long enough the birds will come back out. I'm currently obsessed with Wood Peckers. Pileated, Sap Suckers and Northern Flickers. The Sap Suckers are obnoxious. lol I never fancied myself a birder. But it's become quite fascinating. You mention you live in a desert area. That would be amazing to observe! No giant nasty slugs! lol I don't want to know the trade off for that. lol

    Very nice. Do you ever do any stamping on your covers? I have often wondered how hard that would be. Always enjoy your videos.

    I love this journal; it has some travelers notebook Vibes but somehow more organic. I don't think it would be bad to hear Kona in the background. 🐕💕
    Although, I don't think I've ever heard of Desertcore with construction features as an aesthetic. Maybe a Sea Lemon in the desert could make it happen🌵🌊🍋🏜️

    Why do you use faux leather as opposed to real leather? Is there a practical difference or is it an ethical reason?

    Have you tried making plantable seed paper? I did a class one day years ago. We added flower seeds. I think it's an idea that might fit with this. 😊

    Besides the paper, do you think I could make a book like this for my husband to read out of it or will the thread rip the pages?
