A few things I learned from Navy career. If you fail A school you will go to fleet undesignated. Never be late for watch. Once late effed. Twice late earns a visit with XO. Three times I'm afraid to tell you. Always be ready for inspection. Through my entire 21+ yrs. there were inspections, and many I was not warned. Just make your rack every day, and tend to personal hygiene and inspections become a breeze.
As soon as you go to “A” School, your military bearing goes straight out the window.... no matter what you say, that shit will disappear for a minimum of a day😆
Hospital Corpsman A School can be challenging, tests and practicals often but they'll give you enough time to study with even study groups and practice tests if you want them. Despite one of my instructors not really wanting me to succeed, I passed with honors and distinction anyway..
mojav26 good job,i hope i do the same...what advice do you have for future sailors who want to pass Corps school with honor? Did you get to pick your first comand?
Thank you! Basically I spent a fair amount of time studying and less time socializing after class. If you already have some background in health and medical, that will help of course. And yes how it was set up when I went through is the students with the highest gpa were able to pick their orders first when they became available for the class. You also might try to get a more specialized C school there or even at MEPS. Being a general duty corpsman is fine though, you can apply for a C school later.
mojav26 were you provided with study aids? I heard quizlet helped a lot of students...Another question, sorry if i ask too much. What is the advantage of having a C school?
When I went to corps school they had practice quizzes one could take on their time. When you take the petty officer rate exams after you graduate from corps school there are study aids also one can buy (that don't cost too much lol). Yes it looks like Quizlet has much of it now, I don't know how Quizlet works, whether or not it's free but at corps school there's enough free help, that's how I did it! Of course studying the texts they give you is how mostly everyone at least passes. There are study groups as well, informal and formal if you want to participate. C schools are more specialized training, for Corpsmen they would be schools for like lab, radiology, pharmacy tech, psychology tech, IDC (Independent Duty Corpsman) and I suppose extra marine training for those deploying with them (green side) is something of a C school too. When I went through A school one day they gave everyone a chance to sign up for marine medic training. Some corpsmen secure a C school at MEPS along with the Hospital Corpsman A school. Most of us when I was in though become general duty corpsmen first, serve at our first duty station(s) then apply for a C school later on.

I'm here in my A school. I got here 2 days ago and its freaking amazing here. Despite the fact that I'm in phase 1 of my liberty which means I can't drink, wear my civilian clothes nor leave base yet, it's still cool to walk around base in my NSU. I was told that week one is are indoc and by week two we would be in phase 2. And by we, I mean the people who arrived with from RTC. Anyways, I can't wait to get this indoc stuff over with.
CT rates aren't as bad as those of you who signed for them are thinking! Just go into it with an open mind and keep the mentality you get from bootcamp that yeah it may suck at times but there are plenty of people that were able to push through it and were in your shoes at one point too. Remember - the Navy wouldn't have given you that job if they didn't know you could do it!
My A school was in SD, STG-A @ FLEASWTRACENPAC...Then across the street to NTC for BEEP...then back to ASW school...STG-C school. There was NO relaxing...advanced mathematics, physics, electrical...all the time hoping your background investigation was going well. “Rate” equals enlisted rank while “Rating” equals Navy occupation.
When I was in A school. if no one objected, they'd smoke in class. Well E3 me objected and the Marine Corp e6 instructor got "miffed" at me as did the class at first. Besides hating smoke, I realized if they smoked in class we'd never go outside for smoke breaks. Everyone was much happier when I pointed that out. While I was in Millington for AO A school, some one burned the AFUNP (AVIATION FUNADMENTALS PREP) school down.
C school is was more relax than Aschool, 3-4 hour lunch breaks, sometimes lunch breaks where you don’t gotta come back til the next morning, atleast that’s how it is on the west side
@@isaiahhenderson4587 Can't wait to get out, didn't really work for me. However, the Navy is a great opportunity and I wouldn't discourage anyone from joining. I'm using my GI bill to go to Puerto Rico for college so that after 185 days, I can become a permanent resident and evade the capital gains tax on the cryptocurrency I've accumulated while I was in the Navy. You can use your GI bill to cover housing as long as you take at least one course in person. Made it to 3rd class, alcohol shenanigans made me a seaman again. Was not able to take the advancement exam due to Covid. Don't make any stupid mistakes if you plan on joining.

I was wondering if you knew anything about/could explain what my responsibilities will be as an Air Traffic Controller once I'm deployed. Much love bro, 60,000 papas coming soon!
