I don’t own my own boat. It is fascinating to see everything that goes into making for a successful salmon trip.. Don’t forget to add the info of your friend and his shop. What a great resource for those who have their own fishing boat! Looking forward to see you net the 20+ pounder!👍
Thanks for the walk around of the boat and the upgrades and for introducing Jim at realcustomboatworks. You've given me some ideas for my own boat, especially the weight retriever. I'll be out there for the opener out of Pillar Point.
I always believe that you catch bigger salmon when matching. And munching is more fun lot less gear on your line and you're just hooked to the fish it's great.
Chris your Boat is like a Cadillac but on the ocean, Deeply respect the amount of work and money you had to save to be able to buy/maintain a boat this beautiful. Awesome vid
Awesome info. I was going to put mono on my salmon rig also. Now I am going to do it. Ty for the info Chris. And good luck out there. I’ll be out salmon fishing in July.
Chris thanks for the info. I normally do all my own work, but I will get an estimate from Jim to mount two 1106s on my Striper 2101. Not much room for placement. Thanks for the hookup. Mr. Q.
Watching this video here says an awful lot about your character and you're wanting to support local businesses taking your boat and giving a big shout out to everybody that's on your channel for him is a really good deed for you Good luck this salmon season I'm looking forward to it here at home I live here in New York mind you ours don't come out of the ocean they come out of the Great lakes but they still get some good size to them Good luck my friend
Chris I admire you. I wonder (doubt) if you do not have the best rigged boat in the SF area. Every detail is Important if you want to be the "High Liner Fisher" in your fishery. I once had an 18 Lowe River Boat and 50 HP motor in AK. After I rigged that boat like I wanted; it was like 3-4 times more expensive.
There’s a number of interesting NorCal UA-cam fishing channels but I think ChrisPFish would be the best among them to make a video about the economics of owning a trailered boat in the Bay Area.
Great vids Chris. We'll be out of Lawsons on Wednesday. Weather looks great. Do you post reports on instagram or just here? Thx. Isaac- 19' BW Montauk black top "Short Leader".
@@ChrisPfish2 Yea man I remember you! I graduated '04. Glad you're out here having fun, I've enjoyed your walkthroughs, rundowns and pesentations. Hope they help me catch a fish one of these days, Napa river is calling :)

Hey Chris, Out of curiosity do you drive with the top and side curtains on all the time? Some say yes it’s ok some say no. I noticed yours on every time you’re out fishing.
salmon opened up in central CA in april. It didnt open in northern california (sf bay area) until june 26th. For the waters I fish it just opened on the ocean. thanks for watching
@@ChrisPfish2 I thought we saw your boat out there saturday. we are going out bodega all week starting friday. hopefully will box some big fish. good luck.
all depends which part of the river. I have caught them in sacramento and they are silver still and taste just like ocean. I have also caught not so good ones in sacramento. South of sacramento you have a chance at a fresh one. thanks for watching
Great Question; The longer run to spawning the more fat they pack. Yukon river Kings like 1,000 mile journey are very fat laden at the ocean. They stop eating and lose fat once they enter fresh water to go upstream. Those "fat" laden fish feed Champion Alaska/Canadian Sled Dog teams. Short streamers, like pinks/humpies never have much fat content. There's nothing like a Copper River King/Red!! But if you smoke or pickle 'em it may not matter.
@@theoldsurffisher1943 I have not tried salmon in years due to my own misguided experience trying to make a salmon sandwich, but I like other fish and figure I need to give it another shot after about 20 years. Thank you for the info, makes it sound really good if you get the right fish
This video has me pumped for the salmon season! So many great tips Chris! That R5 rod holder mechanism is so cool. Good luck tomorrow!

Your boat is just bad ass 👌🏼🎣🎣 now it’s ready for some fat salmon
Dude love card top holders as leader storage… definitely stealing that from you. Do you collect sportscards or what if you don’t mind me asking
yeah sportcard collector. 80's 90's and up to 2005 mainly is what I collect. nba, nfl, mlb. Thanks for watching
Salmon “opener”? Is it just your first time out of the year or are you talking about the river season?
salmon opened up in central CA in april. It didnt open in northern california (sf bay area) until june 26th. For the waters I fish it just opened on the ocean. thanks for watching
Drop a metal jig down, a jig up a King
You going out tomorrow?
oh yeah, weather is suspect so we will see for how long.

Do salmon taste differnt in the ocean or up river when they spawn? Obviously its the same fish just wonder If the run changes anything
Way different. There is no comparison. The ocean fish is far better than the river fish. Colder water and the fish haven’t started shutting down.
