I'm planning to go to Oyster Pt. this Sunday but I gotta get that Mrs.Stewarts brew...I'll try Ace...If I ever see you out there I'll hail you !...Thanks for the great videos and tips...!!
Hey I think I recently saw you kayak fishing out of Berkeley. I asked and you said you had hooked onto a 28 incher. I just want to say I enjoy watching your fishing videos and it's a real honor to actually see you out there fishing in person.
@@MooMooOutdoors I caught 2 keepers on the way in. I was out there for a while though. Hopefully I will be fortunate enough to see you guys out there again!
Good stuff 👍 your rigging is great but that would take slot of time reregging..but it's cool, thanks for the tips I subscribed--->and yes let us win something!!from you!
thx moo! if you freeze the leftovers in a tray without being submerged in brine, are they just as effective the next trip? or do you recommend fresh brine for each trip?
Hey Moo. Thanks for the instructional video. I followed your recipe and brined tray bait last week. My question is how long does the brined anchovy stay "good" if kept in the refrigerator? Thanks!
@@MooMooOutdoors I really notice how well the brined chovies last vs. non-brined. The non-brined anchovies usually don't last more than a few hours out of the freezer. The brined anchovies last forever, it seems, even in the water. Thanks again for the clear and easy to understand video.
Thanks for sharing. Tried out this recipe for yesterdays halibut trip. Worked great, the trap hook stayed in the tail very well. Do you just squirt some ProCure, (or other brand), into the mix to add a scent? What do you do with theleft over bait? does it keep well in the fridge? Or Freezer?
I'm happy that it worked for you. Comments like this gives me motivation to make more videos. I never used any scents but yes I believe any bait scent can be added. If I'm fishing again in a couple of days, I just put in back in the fridge. More than a couple of days, I take them out of the brine and put it in the freezer then put them in fresh brine the day before fishing.
quick tip, if you want a vacuum seal on the zip lock, just submerse the bag with the top open into water. The water will push the air out for you and just seal when the bag is down to the top of the seal. Quick, easy and no air in the bag.
I'm Jimmy. Newbie in bay area & NCKA. Thanks for sharing! Your videos are so much helpful!! 😍 Is skim milk important? what if skim milk is missing in here?
Welcome to NKCA. What dried skim milk does is that it makes the firm. Without it the bait will get mushy and fall apart easily. Come join me sometime. DM me on IG or FB.
@@MooMooOutdoors thanks! It's clear now. Actually I'm following MooMoo Outdoors on FB channel. what is IG? I'd love to go with you. But I'm only available on Sat or Sunday.
Mrs. Stewart's Liquid Bluing. You can get them from Ace and some super markets have them. They are used for many things but mainly for the laundry. One of the use is of course bait brining 😉
I typically use bag anchovies for halibut and tray for chrome. Tray anchovies have all scales, much more shiny, more firm and they will last more than a day if you keep it cold.
It makes the bait shiny. www.amazon.com/Mrs-Stewarts-Bluing-1101-MPLS-8oz/dp/B001NEMV3Q/ref=asc_df_B001NEMV3Q/?tag=hyprod-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309832782859&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=40427310785336768&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032475&hvtargid=pla-424802797391&psc=1&tag=&ref=&adgrpid=70155173188&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvadid=309832782859&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=40427310785336768&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9032475&hvtargid=pla-424802797391
They are hard to find. I got them from Amazon (link in description). You might be able to find them at Ace Hardware. Yes, you can do without. Bait won't be as shiny but it will still be firm and stay intact.

I personally do fresh brine after freeze. If I'm fishing again in a couple of days, I just put it back in the fridge submerged in brine.
Hey Moo. Thanks for the instructional video. I followed your recipe and brined tray bait last week. My question is how long does the brined anchovy stay "good" if kept in the refrigerator? Thanks!

It only takes 5 mins and it's totally worth it. Thanks for watching.
I wonder what Mrs Smith Blueing is used for when not for bait?
Whitening agent for white cloths
Do you find that the bellies still blow out even after brining?
Yes after trolling withit for a while. Still much more durable. Thanks for watching ☺
Do u ever refrezze and use again and are u using frozen to start with?
Tray chovies works after refreeze but bag chovies don't. Yes I put the frozen bait in the brine.
MooMoo does the Blue help with the brine or is it just for color?
Blue keeps the bait shiny.
Hey Moo do you think this brine of sardines and anchovies would be effective for Halibut in San Diego as well? Thanks for all you do
Absolutely. I'm not saying halibut prefers brined bait but brining makes the bait firmer and shinier.
@@MooMooOutdoors thank you Sir! Keep up the awesome content.
Is mix n drink necessary, or will salt and water firm it up enough?
It is better with powdered skim milk because it firms the bait more but you can get away without but of course not as firm

Does the bait have to be gutted. I'm considering small spot and perch. Thx
No. I think it's better to keep all the skin/scales intact.
