Good day, I took Aikido in my late 20’s ( 1970-71), while stationed in Japan and achieved a Brown belt, but have not formally practiced since. Having said that, Akiko has not failed me once in many situation in Viet Nam, Iraq and and the USA on the street and in other situations. Watching your UA-cam instructional videos has kept me in tune on basic defense and movements and striking movements. I am currently 73 yrs old in good shape and never fear against the young angers lads today in restaurants, bars etc. Akiko basics work and I enjoy your videos, keep up the good work.
seeing old people in good shape just makes one happy Last year I saw a man probably 70 years old who rode with me in a cab He was sitting in front of me When he got to his destination He jumped down like a 20 year Old( this cab was one of the big ones with 7 passenger seats) Then I looked at him and man He looked in such good shape And I see a lot of other old people struggling to do some tasks because their old body can't handle them And some others lifting up to 80 lbs around and helping others and hell even working out Stay in good shape people And take care of your body Don't get into unnecessary Fights For it will help you
@BlackSH0veldeath yeah, but have you ever had your ass handed to you by someone good at it, as well as being skilled in other fighting styles? I've never been handled so badly, just my Aiki-jujutsu sensei. Dude, broke me down :)
In this video one very important thing is not discussed that I see in way to many videos online. Guys are arguing upclose and the more offensive one, without any bodysigns or whatsoever, suddenly sucker punches the other one on the chin and knocks him out. Never allow someone agresivne to get close to you. If they don't respect your personal space and are coming closer to you, either run away asap, or punch them first! Unfortunately we live in a very violent age and the first sport my kids are gonna learn are martial arts, whether they want it or not. Self defense skills will save your health and life, and almost everyone has at least that one critical situation in their life.
@@jovanjovic4193 trust that there is not always such choice. Ever fight? The aggressor would continue pushing up on you if you back up, plus you look weak. Ever been to a bar, crowdedarea and room size...? Just saying. Let the kids learn to box if you want them to be able to really defend themselves, and get in shape. :) Martial arts should be added after. This way they learn the actual timing and distance of hitting, they hit and get hit, learn how to move their feet, etc. Boxing skills also are usable after relatively little time.
@@3rdeyefoods754 I agree with everything you said! Yeah I've been in over 42 fights with Men and 3 women. I grew up in Oakland California where they absolutely hate us White boys and I had no choice but to fight, got surrounded at school and forced to do so. I took Muay Thai for 8 weeks personal training and was taught just boxing in the first place like you said and that's where I know you are right. However backing up is also important in boxing to keep your opponent out of your killing zone, a few good smacks will keep him/her from approaching so confidently again. So back up but only enough for your arms reach. It's mostly in the stomach muscles you need for punching so yeah boxing will get you into shape for this. I do sets of 50 push ups at a time now and then get up for power punching and kicking immediately afterwards. Push ups are the key but you have to do them honestly and all the way.
Two things I would tell someone to do if they don't know how to fight: 1) move, not run but keep moving. You detect movement you move offline, never straight back, angles left back, left forward, right back, right forward. 2) keep your hands up. If you are getting hit, cover your head and do number 1, MOVE!!!. With you hands up, if you need to strike, put your hands together and push towards the face, return to defense and move, move, move.

I once knew a kid 18, 19 yrs old, got in a fight in the street, and he knocked the other guy down hit his head on the curb and died, kid did 25 yrs in prison, no its not worth it.
Interesting you said that. I studied Kung Fu with Grandmaster Ark Y. Wong. I remember him saying that the hardest person to fight is a drunken person. They come out swinging with hands and fists everywhere without any sense of timing.

Wes Lott It really depends on how drunk the person is because you hit harder when you’re drunk because you don’t think about consequences and you put all your power in one punch, I once was in a pub and saw 2 blokes fighting the drunk guy won since he just loaded up a haymaker to the other guys face and knocked him out the sober guy lost 3 teeth and apparently he was a boxer aswell, the drunk guy was just wavey and very violent
Great advice. Walkin away is a great way for not adding more fuel to the potential fire. Whenever you walk away it shows that you are the winner cuz u actually put out the potential fire from burning without literally getting into a fist fight with that person. " No troubles n no sweat" ✌✌✌
I agree on this but of course there are situations that have gotten out of hand without adding fuel to the flame. So sometimes you have to fight if you don't want to get beat up

Working in psychiatric intensive care, love to see some techniques how to grab and escort somebody without huge risks causing injuries. Also nonintrusive locks on the ground are welcome. Certainly ones where you only need one arm if need the opportunity to make a call for assistance.
Aikido is ideal for this industry because it has numerous options for controlling a person's physical structure without the need to beat their body into submission. There are numerous options to control limbs so they don't fly around striking everyone. The thing I'd be wary is that joint locks work on the basis of the threat that the joints will get broken; holding a severely agitated patient in a joint lock could result in broken joints as they'd have less control over their senses while agitated. I don't know how serious it is if your techniques result in broken joints for this extreme situation. In addition, you can study some Brazilian Jujutsu and develop some ground pinning techniques. My next point is about training and personal development. It's one thing to learn in a video about the mechanics of any technique. It's another thing to experience the feel of how your own body moves and the feeling of your connection to another body. You will need to train your body and movements with people of varying sizes and achieve a certain level of mastery because these are sophisticated techniques that rely on feeling.
This is all true. We do get training and use specific techniques. However I also tried aikido for 6 months and got to know a few far more effective techniques. I always welcome new inspiration as backup when the standard ones fail. e.g.one of the hardest problems is escorting people to separation and they let them fall on the ground to lose grip. Or getting them from standing up to fixed on a bed.
A bunch of my people already think they're being followed by the CIA. Bringing them back to reality by actually working with the CIA, sounds great, doesn't work.
@jon jon goufema liames zenbin pinfen No idea what your personal experience with psychiatric care is. But I am glad I to say I don't share such experience. It's an underfunded part of any health care system without using a common line of best practices. So there is a huge difference from hospital to hospital, country to country.
@3:20 In most jurisdictions around the world; if you hit first, then you are the criminal. In that case they are allowed to defend themselves. Then they can claim all of their bluster was just an attempt to stop you attacking them. What proof do they have? Well, you hit first.
People who are drunk, or worse on drugs or both, can do some real unpredictable things, and with say pcp, they can be mad strong. Thats why, for me, judo and Aikido are so great as they are all about not meeting that force headon. If say a boxing only person has to defend against our aforementioned person tripping on pcp, he is in a world of trouble. What about bjj? Yeah, but these untrained people will bite, and that bite if they have aids or hepatitis. Not good
Good video... What if they grab your hand and pull you in for a punch? There are a lot of videos on how to stop hay makers but what about people who know how to punch like a boxer? Jab and Punch hard. So many people take martial arts and with boxercise in aerobic studios and youtube videos, a lot of people know how to throw a punch. I personally don't throw hay makers and rarely get into fights but when I do, it is always with someone bigger, meaner and experienced and they see me as an easy target. How do you get out of that headlock in this video if the headlock is from behind? It would be nice to see a video how to protect yourself from a more experienced fighter/brawler and leaving the fight is not an option. You have to defend yourself. I have come across other martial artist who don't get what martial arts is truly about and are looking for a fight to test their skills on unsuspecting people in the street. I have some basic martial arts training but how far can that go?
What if they escalate it ? What if you have no space to move? What if they just start swinging? One last thing If you keep moving backwards you are going to keep being punched . Good video but you are still only working with a compliant attacker . Conclusion is It is better to be judged by 12 than carried by six .. avoid conflict at all costs .but when it comes go hard or get killed. You are getting there with the videos . I have practiced aikido 23 years . I used to make a lot of the mistakes you are talking about . Aggression, proper strikes , and cross training. Have eliminated that . As well as 11 years real experience working as a prison officer. Just a bit of advice do not ever rely on any one thing. Like punching them in the throat . Everything works and nothing works .always have something else.
Good video. Can you show how to practice and train aikido in our house. I cant go to a gym because of my job and a wanna learn aikido maybe you can help me thanks. I did jiu jitsu a few years ago but now i cant. You. Are the best thanks
2:57 if someone is sharking like that, attack is imminent... If he looks away. Here it comes. Hands, hands, hands, if you can't seem them, he probably has a weapon in them.
Maximus Payne hit too hard and it goes down and suffocates him, you just press it with little force, and please do not hit it, it doesn’t matter how softly you hit it because chances are the guy might try to counter attack and get hit right there at full speed resulting in a very painful death

Or getting them from standing up to fixed on a bed.
A bunch of my people already think they're being followed by the CIA. Bringing them back to reality by actually working with the CIA, sounds great, doesn't work.
David Weymeis thank you
@jon jon goufema liames zenbin pinfen No idea what your personal experience with psychiatric care is. But I am glad I to say I don't share such experience. It's an underfunded part of any health care system without using a common line of best practices. So there is a huge difference from hospital to hospital, country to country.
Thanks
remember its self defense never peovoke or escalate.
@3:20 In most jurisdictions around the world; if you hit first, then you are the criminal. In that case they are allowed to defend themselves. Then they can claim all of their bluster was just an attempt to stop you attacking them. What proof do they have? Well, you hit first.
you can tell they having fun with it
Like asu said .I've witnessed it .when the bully is confronted .especially by a smaller person .the bully will be come the COWARD
Good information
So only fight if you are backed into a corner
Thank you for this video. Awesome.
Thanks for training sessions .Awesome
People who are drunk, or worse on drugs or both, can do some real unpredictable things, and with say pcp, they can be mad strong. Thats why, for me, judo and Aikido are so great as they are all about not meeting that force headon. If say a boxing only person has to defend against our aforementioned person tripping on pcp, he is in a world of trouble. What about bjj? Yeah, but these untrained people will bite, and that bite if they have aids or hepatitis. Not good
Superb brother
Qie Dios té bendiga hermano...!
I have some basic martial arts training but how far can that go?
excellent tips mate!!
Good Video good Information/ Demonstration @Aikidoflow
The art of fighting without fighting -
Bruce Lee
What if they escalate it ? What if you have no space to move?
What if they just start swinging?
One last thing
If you keep moving backwards you are going to keep being punched .
Good video but you are still only working with a compliant attacker .
Conclusion is
It is better to be judged by 12 than carried by six .. avoid conflict at all costs .but when it comes go hard or get killed.
Excellent demo!
oui je utiliser de regarde a vous bcp fois sans moi commentaire a vos channal mais pour moment je le decider a fait comme ca.
Leopard punch to the throat, eye rake, crane strike to the side of the neck, etc. Or u simply walk away.
Bravo, I agree !
You dont even need to step away with a haymaker you can just move towards him and take him down before the punch even hits
Good video. Can you show how to practice and train aikido in our house. I cant go to a gym because of my job and a wanna learn aikido maybe you can help me thanks. I did jiu jitsu a few years ago but now i cant. You. Are the best thanks
It's not really possible to practice alone without a partner or a teacher that shows you your mistakes.
2:57 if someone is sharking like that, attack is imminent... If he looks away. Here it comes. Hands, hands, hands, if you can't seem them, he probably has a weapon in them.
You're right
Is safe to strike the throat. Can it kill someone or permanently damage their airway?
Maximus Payne hit too hard and it goes down and suffocates him, you just press it with little force, and please do not hit it, it doesn’t matter how softly you hit it because chances are the guy might try to counter attack and get hit right there at full speed resulting in a very painful death
,BEST ADVICE -- TURN AND RUN LIKE HELL.
Wiped the dust from his attackers trousers. So polite 😆
