I play several car related games (rocket league mainly, trackmania, forza etc.) but I also play a lot of COD and warzone so I just switch my layout to bumpers as aim and shoot and got attachable buttons for the back. Problem solved

A free way to do this is to go into your settings in a game and swap the bumpers with the triggers in controller settings and boom clicky-faster shooting/aiming buttons
Holy shit i just help my controller to imitate doing this to see how it would feel and if I didn’t that i would use my lower fingers to hit the triggers for Grenades and stuff so my fingers would never leave the shoot button. People dont prefer mouse and keyboard over controllers because they are „clicky” the main reasons are -More keys; pretty self explanatory, more buttons equals no need for weird button combos or having one button be context specifc, this makes it easier to do exactly what you want. -precision, no matter the sensitivity controllers are unable to offer as precise and quick movements as mice do. Its way harder and slower to do curved and generally not straight movements with a joystick. Same is with movement, turning an analog stick from left to right will always take more time than raising your finger off the d key and pressing the a key. Ergonomics - thats a quick one imo, keyboard and mice are not as prone to getting your hands sweaty, keyboards are big and comfortable to keep hands on, same for a good gaming mouse. I have fairly big hands and especially with the dualshock 4s my hands could ache after few hours of play, not to mention the sweat Customization. - keyboards can come in totally different layouts and shapes and with switches that make a great difference on the keyboards feel. This amount of choices is simply not existant in the custom controller market, there are also not as many reputable brands that would produce switches for controllers Price to quality - I’ve used many controllers over the years mostly the pack in ones for ps4, ps5, xbox 360, xbox one and the pro controller for the switch (which also has digital/ quick to press triggers if any of you care only about that) and to be honest they are all just „okay” for the price. For comparison - my old keyboard a razer chroma which i bought for roughly half the cost of a dual sense is still more comfortable and offers an all around more polished experience. Just a quick note - the switch pro controller is a great alternative to the custom competetive controllers if you manage to get it working ( i used an adapter on my ps4 it worked) the switch controller cost me roughly 100aussie bucks and has digital, quick triggers an excellent dpad, great ergonomics a really cool design and atrocious analog sticks

What about racing games when you are barely pressing it, it speeds up a little but if you have the clicks from the mouse it will automatically go max speed for the car but for gun games I think I would recommend it for that but if you don’t really care you could do either it’s really cool it’s just a thought to think about.
