    food is the best answer, so difficult to sell the concept of whole natural foods.
    The studies I'm familiar show the opposite of the statements made at 43:50- Where they found all-cause mortality was not affected by medications for hypertension (numbers changed but mortality was unchanged), but that those who reduced their BP with changes in diet and lifestyle actually did improve their all cause mortality. That was Dr. Greger's interpretation of a similar "gold standard" study on the topic. I do not have a citation handy but do enjoy a better life now with dietary changes and no more drugs needed.

    Here's a cheap partial fix. Have a PB room/cubical with dim light and very pleasant music (see "sleep music".) The patient goes there BEFORE anything else (but front desk). An instructional video explaining the procedure and showing lovely landscapes for 5 minutes. After 5 minutes, the silent N.A. or nurse takes BP. The patient then goes to the treatment/ consulting room.

    Dear Doctor Baron, my blood pressure is 176 over 119 on the average for the past 48 years.
    At the age of 31, I was told by the family cardiologist I wouldn't live till 40 if I don't follow a strict treatment.
    Well I did not.
    I am still breathing at 67 and I live a normal life without thinking HBP. I don't eat meat since the age of 13. Never been hospitalised or got seriously ill in my life.
    After listening to your presentation with great interest I wonder: How come I am still alive? Is there a possibility that BP can be high for certain people without being a risk?

      I am the same way. Plus many doctors offices take my bp incorrectly...ie... arm dangling from my side while sitting, I'm leaning forward rather that sitting flat back against a chair, etc. The nurse say nothing to correct posture or arm placement and guess what? The say nothing because the just don't care!!! I am 63 and my BP has always been high. I am 20 lbs overweight and working on losing these Covid pounds.

    I hope we're not still using sugar in sugar pills as a placebo because that DOES have a profound effect on the endocrine system thereby changing the outcome of studies. I would suspect that someone taking a sugar pill for 5 years would not be a baseline condition. 35:18

    The suspension of food without salt how much it affects compared to a sugar free diet ? For many years theories of salt-free diets have been adopted to solve problems of kidney failure or in the absence of sugar for diabetes problems usually my big doubt was about the quantity of water and the time of water intake

    Most people are not that salt sensitive! I eat plenty of salt, though not table salt. I eat Himalayan pink salt and Celtic sea salt (French). Despite once suffering from very high blood pressure, I have managed to reduce it to text book levels. It now hovers around the 120/80 mark each and every day. But this, despite not restricting my salt intake. In my experience, sugar is the offender, not salt.

    • @PatIreland
      @PatIreland 3 роки тому +1

      Don't kid yourself. As a matter of chemistry: "Some people believe that pink Himalayan salt is lower in sodium than regular table salt. However, both types consist of approximately 98 percent sodium chloride. As pink salt often has larger crystals than table salt, it technically contains less sodium per teaspoon." ANd you can dye salt any color you want, or get it from any salt-water source you want to, it is still NACl.

    • @bobbun9630
      @bobbun9630 2 роки тому

      He mentions alternatives to meds, and even points out that they're effective. A key factor in any successful treatment, though, is that the patient be willing to do his part. Diet, exercise, weight loss, etc. are only useful to the extent that patients actually comply. If the patient is unwilling or unable to comply, though, advising the patient to do those things *for the rest of their natural lives* is not likely to result in the desired outcome. Choosing a pill isn't simply laziness on the part of the doctor--the fraction of patients who are actually going to take a daily pill is far higher than the fraction who will lose weight and keep it off, who will exercise for thirty minutes six times a week, etc. There actually are patients, by the way, who won't respond even if they do make the lifestyle changes. Those people will always need the medication option.
      If you're concerned that he's shilling for drug companies, you might want to note that he didn't push brand name drugs. He mentioned which one was a brand name (it's probably generic by now, but I haven't checked). He then spent essentially all the rest of the time discussing generics.
