Thanks!
Wow. Thank you so so much
Wow! Very full first day. I love your adjective.. "stagnanty" water. Great to see your "happy trails" smile. Very different hike from the AT where water is plentiful. Great views and thank you for sharing. Stay safe and be careful!
Great first day!! Enjoyed your video and seeing you back on the trail!!!
Thanks for watching!
It is so good to see you out there! I have missed your positive attitude and your love for the trail. It is great to see the views and terrain of the west. It is really beautiful. I agree about shared use trails. Our local state park where we day hike is about half shared use and half hiker only. The weekends can get pretty wild! Thank you for taking the time to make such gorgeous video and sharing this adventure with us!
Thank you very much!
Love the new hat. I see that it's definitely different than the A.T. very beautiful out there. Good day one with 16 miles in. Enjoy it. Love your videos
Thanks!
Thanks for talking us along on your hike the scenery is beautiful I'm surprised you are not finding more water sources seeing that you are waking around a lake
You and me both!
Love it!! Give me an honest review, the good with the bad. Looks like you had a good first day.
I did!
So happy for you! In your happy place!
Absolutely
YAHOOOOO... I followed you the whole AT.. and I'll follow you all the way through this one too..Good luck and live your dream...We all love ya , stay safe
Thank you for following along and staying with me.
So many things to say regarding this video…
-love the addition of music to parts of your clips
-I noticed the joy you are feeling being back on trail, even before you mentioned it
-And sadly, I totally agree with you regarding bicyclists 🚴♀️. Idk why they don’t consider the danger they pose from almost hitting a human…to almost running over my dog’s paw another time and the lack of respect when they can run the risk of spooking my horse on the bridle trails! Sadly there are more selfish ones than selfless. Don’t get me wrong cyclists…” I appreciate you polite ones who obey the rules…May you influence the others on proper cycling etiquette.”
I almost had a beat down with a cyclist on the PCT section of the TRT. It was an area near houses. He lives there and feels he should be able to ride the trail.
I called him out when he passed me. He stopped a hundred yards ahead of me like he was ready to fight.
When he saw me moving fast to reach him, he took off. Total coward.
Love your sun hat! Beep, Beep, Roadrunner coming through!
Oh yeah!
Watching the clip in snippets. Welcome back to the trail...
Thank you
Too many hikers dont carry enough water and hike in a dehydrated condition. Yeah water weighs a lot, but its literally your life at stake, especially in the sort of environment you're occupying.
As far as the bikers, they close at such a fast pace that by the time you recognize that they are approaching, they're already on top of you. They can be quite a problem on our multi-use trails.
Wow! Great music & great views!
Many thanks!
Nice to see you back on trail!!!!
Thank you
Go git it, Girl!
Woot woot
I started carrying that Cnoc bag this year as my dirty water container, and really like it. Seems easier to gather water and keeps my Smart bottles from getting contaminated.
It is very helpful for sure
welcome back! we missed ya...
Welcome
Love the shirt
Thank s
Great to see you out there again.
More to come!
Nice job. I was looking for someone hiking the TRT. Love you style of videos.
I live in S. Florida. 👍👍
Awesome! Thank you!
Enjoyed😅
Thank you
Very nice to see you back out again and enjoying your hike! 👍🙂🥾
Thank you! 😀
Nice, herzliche Grüße aus Deutschland.
Danke
Great video of your first day on the TRT. The views are magnificent and the stillness with just the wind blowing is so relaxing. It’s great to see western species of wildflowers and hear the different birds in the background. Minus the water rationing and mosquitoville, it seems to be a great start to another epic adventure. Thank you for taking us along. - Jiffy Pop
Congrats being back on trail. Praying for your safety. Eeyore and I submitted Katahdin 2 August. It was awesome. You should look into no bite me bug cream, work on mosquitoes in the 100 mile wilderness. Take care and enjoy your journey.
Congratulations you THRU hiker !!!!
@@hikingdancer thank you lol
Looks like a great hike. Makes me thirsty just watching it. Good luck !
You and me both!
Your a yonger version of me with love
Really? Neat
Gosh, it's so pretty out there, and so different from the AT, and what a TReaT to tag along with you! As always, thanks for talking about the good, the bad, and everything in between, however it strikes you. You're so much more color-coordinated this time, with the trekking poles and the shorts, and the new hat/hoodie/pack combo. So, umm...all the phones or cameras you keep walking past and leaving behind...are they all still out there, along the trail?
Awesome video. We start in 5 days -August 7 down on the south end of the lake and we go counterclockwise 15 days. Would be nice if we were to see you, but just don’t know. Thanks for the video.
I won’t be on trail then. Where do you start though? Kingsbury?
@@hikingdancer we are starting at the Echo Summit trail head. I’m sad you won’t be there when we are there. I love your content. Have a great trip.
I was watching with a little trepidation knowing you were going to run out of water! Great first day!
Thank you
I did the TRT last year and 100% agree about the bikers. The NV side is crazy with them. Once you hit the PCT they go away. A few had bells they would ring when they approached, the rest did not. I lost count of how many times I was almost hit.
Only one bike had a bell, most others looked at me like I was vermin because I was in their way.
Bikers in Florida are the same way. Where I live in Lake County it is a HUGE point of contention. I doubt it will ever change.
I’m sure bikers are like that everywhere
I have missed you even though I live only 70 miles from you
Where do you live?
Nice to see you back in your happy place, mosquitoes aside! 🙂
They are intense
Sorry if you mentioned this and I missed it, but what was your start date?
July 22
So wonderful to see you back out on trail! Thanks for taking us along! Wishing you the best adventure!
Thanks so much!
Thank you so much for sharing. It was a strong day hiking. The scenery was so beautiful. I guess you already figured out that you were in an area where there was no cell phone signal, and your phone was trying to connect and as a result drained more battery. I would put my phone in airplane mode and manually turn on blue tooth if necessary (so that it can communicate with your satellite communication device).
Yes it was!
Being in the woods is everything , and i just love it so much !!
It really is everything
Did you cache food or will you be resupplying along the way? Where can you resupply?
You’ll see as the video continues, I sent myself a resupply box
I had to go to the fridge to get something to drink.
Lol great
😂😂😂
So good to once again hear that cheerful “Goood mornin’!” Off to a great start. ❤❤ (And, I really dislike shared use trails!)
Good morning!
Wow! What spectacular views! It looks so beautiful! How cool and coincidental that you met another hiker nearby where you live! I know you saw a lot of mountain bikers on trail, but did you see a lot of other hikers thru-hiking or are most day hikers?
You’ll find out more as my journey continues. But mostly day hikers and mountain bikers
@@hikingdancer awesome! Can't wait to continue watching your hiking adventures! :)
16.1 plus lots of backtracking for B role. gorgeous trail. i have heard the biking situation is scary, someone had a drop off and barely a place to get out of the way of bikers. be careful.
Thank you
A great first day. Over 16 miles. Are the water sources that far apart for the whole trail? Just wondering. The elevation
might be affecting your phone battery. Maybe the heat also? You look so happy out there hiking the trail. It is a gorgeous place. The views, the forest, so much to see.
It really is gorgeous
Wow, happy for you and happy for this vid. Gonna try the same thru in a week or so. Stay strong and thanks for all the learnin'.
You got this!
You said TSA confiscated some food. Did you check the backpack? Where was the knife while traveling?
I did not Check my bag due to a very short layover and I would have had to recheck it myself. I’m glad I did this especially with the missed flight. I sent my knife ahead to my trail angel via USPS
Are there trail markers?
Yes there are
Great first day, thanks for sharing. IMO, The lead biker should use a bell as a warning. I’ve often almost stepped in front of a biker racing downhill while I’m going in the same direction. Yikes.
Hope the water situation improves.
Thank you
I do a lot of hiking on trails where there is also mountain bikers, and experience the same issue. Never had I have one yield to me as they are supposed to, they run up on you without announcing themselves, and expect you to jump out of THEIR way. Pretty annoying for sure. (I also mountain bike and so I know how proper etiquette can make things enjoyable for everyone)
It can be very startling
So happy for you being back at what you love 💕, God 🙏 bless you and thanks for sharing this wonderful adventure with me ☺️🙏❣️❣️❣️❣️ enjoy every step of the way ❤️
Thank you so much!
Always a treat and I love the video format. The trail looks amazing so far. Happy trails.🤘🏻🥾⛰️
Glad you enjoy it!
Great to see you get started on your vacation hike! I think you chose wisely!
Yes! Thank you!
Nice to see your latest hiking adventure--you look like you're having fun. I have a couple of questions that came to my mind while watching this video. First, do you take salt tablets or any other salt supplement on a long hike? Second, I noticed both you and the man you were hiking with for a short time are wearing long sleeve shirts. What's the purpose of this in the summer--is it sun protection? mosquito protection? Just curious. By the way, that's a really great colour combination you're wearing!
The long sleeves are for sun Protection. I prefer that over chemical sunscreen. I do take electrolytes which includes salt.
Welcome back! So fun to watch your hiking vlogs again! Happy trails! 🥾
Thank you
Im so happy to see you on trail again!!!! Everything looks beautiful! I wish I was there 😍
It really is beautiful
Hooray! So glad you are back on the trail, Roadrunner!!!!
Woooooo hoooooi
Did you purposefully match your shorts to your trekking poles? 😅
I am right there with you about the trail bikes! On both counts really. But my dog and I have nearly been run down so many times on trail because bikers just pop up behind us with no warning! 🤬
I also agree about camp grounds. I don't like people 😂
Amazing first day, and the trail looks so beautiful! I may have to add it to my bucket list.
Hiii. No I didn’t plan on matching as well as I do. I looked at myself and I was like “oh wow I’m super matchy match” lol. I switched my shorts though because somebody 😉 told me my other shorts would make them dizzy in combination with my sun hoodie.
@@hikingdancer I wondered about the switch in shorts 😅
Wow, the view is amazing! Thanks for doing those extra steps/miles walking back to the camera to get some spectacular shots!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Great to follow along with you again, RR! The water situation is a big bummer!😮
It sure is
Arent bikes supposed to yield to hikers? I am digging the boonie hat by the way.
Yes I learned later bikes are supposed to yield but they often don’t
@@hikingdancer a-holes. And everyone yields horses….
@@frankynodots correct
Hi does Derek help other hikers??🤔
Not that I know of
@@hikingdancer Oh too bad he sounds like a great guy would have been fun to meet him
@@sarahsundstrom1425 he is a great guy. Maybe he’ll change his mind . Are you going to the TRT soon?
@@hikingdancer Yes later in the month I've done it a couple of times before but it has been a while beautiful trail though isn't it I would fly into Reno and I also started in Tahoe City both hikes It seemed to work well Did you enjoy starting there I haven't been on that trail in a while It could be much busier these days I'm enjoying your videos though bringing it all back ❤️
In my opinion bikes and hikers/walkers should never share a trail for the same reason you mentioned. Some bikers will take precautions to be aware of hikers but it seems those types are far to few. We have some great trails near here that the Forestry service opened up to 4-wheelers. Ask the mountain bikers how well that worked out for them. 😯🤕
Oh yeah I agree
Love that hat and matching shirt! Nylon leggings could protect your legs from sun. I discovered them for pickleball to avoid sunscreen. I play 2-3 hours at a time in the Florida summer sun, and they are not hot. This idea is late for the TRT but might be good for the PCT later. They don't weigh much.
Such a good idea John
Trail etiquette says bikers should yield to hikers. Although what you were doing moving out of the way for them is what most people should and will do. It’s strictly a courtesy.
Very right you are
Bikers think they own the road and now hiking trails too? Can't believe they let bikes on the Rim trail.
The altitude and lack of humidity will zap you as to staying hydrated. Typical for the "west." Great to see you back on trail. Nice scenery shots and comments. Agree with mountain bike issues. I have been startled many times. Happy Trails.
Very true!
I hate mountain bikes on hiking trails but do wish they would let you know their coming. 🥾🥾🥾
Yes it’s very startling when they just ride close
Julianne you are such a joy! So happy for you that you could take the time to do this hike. Are you using DEET for mosquitoes? It works! Be safe and thanks for taking us along again!
I do not use deet as it is quite toxic
We don't know why the premier wait tactic is used. Just post...we love your channel! Stay safe.
It’s not a tactic. It allows me to watch it with you together.
Like your hiking videos didnt your life partner want to hike with you?
Not this time
I hope you are using sun block on those pale legs. The sun is brutal when you stay over 6,000 feet for more than 100 miles
Yeah it is
Are you wearing sunscreen? You look pink. WEAR IT!!!!
I have a usual pink complexion but I do have sunscreen as well
Roadrunner..all this walking back and forth for the camera.. don't you think that's a bad idea when doing a thru hike?
It’s fine so far
Great video, as always. Good to see you out and about again! I'd love to hear you talk about altitude acclimatization. 2 days does not seem like much, but the town of Lake Tahoe is over 6,200 feet and then almost immediately climbs to almost 9K feet. That's quite a jump from Florida.
I’m surprised with how well my body adjusted to the altitude honestly. I think mine showed more with the lack of hunger at the beginning as well as the sniffly nose.
