    It is so good to see you out there! I have missed your positive attitude and your love for the trail. It is great to see the views and terrain of the west. It is really beautiful. I agree about shared use trails. Our local state park where we day hike is about half shared use and half hiker only. The weekends can get pretty wild! Thank you for taking the time to make such gorgeous video and sharing this adventure with us!

    So many things to say regarding this video…
    -love the addition of music to parts of your clips
    -I noticed the joy you are feeling being back on trail, even before you mentioned it
    -And sadly, I totally agree with you regarding bicyclists 🚴‍♀️. Idk why they don’t consider the danger they pose from almost hitting a human…to almost running over my dog’s paw another time and the lack of respect when they can run the risk of spooking my horse on the bridle trails! Sadly there are more selfish ones than selfless. Don’t get me wrong cyclists…” I appreciate you polite ones who obey the rules…May you influence the others on proper cycling etiquette.”

      I almost had a beat down with a cyclist on the PCT section of the TRT. It was an area near houses. He lives there and feels he should be able to ride the trail.
      I called him out when he passed me. He stopped a hundred yards ahead of me like he was ready to fight.
      When he saw me moving fast to reach him, he took off. Total coward.

      Too many hikers dont carry enough water and hike in a dehydrated condition. Yeah water weighs a lot, but its literally your life at stake, especially in the sort of environment you're occupying.
      As far as the bikers, they close at such a fast pace that by the time you recognize that they are approaching, they're already on top of you. They can be quite a problem on our multi-use trails.

    I did the TRT last year and 100% agree about the bikers. The NV side is crazy with them. Once you hit the PCT they go away. A few had bells they would ring when they approached, the rest did not. I lost count of how many times I was almost hit.

I guess you already figured out that you were in an area where there was no cell phone signal, and your phone was trying to connect and as a result drained more battery. Nice to see your latest hiking adventure--you look like you're having fun. I have a couple of questions that came to my mind while watching this video. First, do you take salt tablets or any other salt supplement on a long hike? Second, I noticed both you and the man you were hiking with for a short time are wearing long sleeve shirts. What's the purpose of this in the summer--is it sun protection? mosquito protection? Just curious. By the way, that's a really great colour combination you're wearing!

    In my opinion bikes and hikers/walkers should never share a trail for the same reason you mentioned. Some bikers will take precautions to be aware of hikers but it seems those types are far to few. We have some great trails near here that the Forestry service opened up to 4-wheelers. Ask the mountain bikers how well that worked out for them. 😯🤕

  • @John_Stewart
    @John_Stewart Рік тому +1

    Love that hat and matching shirt! Nylon leggings could protect your legs from sun. I discovered them for pickleball to avoid sunscreen. I play 2-3 hours at a time in the Florida summer sun, and they are not hot. This idea is late for the TRT but might be good for the PCT later. They don't weigh much.
