@substatica Yeah, Meta really has overpowered the competition. I guess I'm still stuck with the Quest ecosystem for now since all my favorite games seem to be locked to the Meta store.
Yeah, this is a PCVR headset with a few apps/games on their store. Bigscreen isn't on it yet but since it is on PC you can run it that way, I don't even think a powerful pc would be needed to run it. The 5 games that were free with pre-order aren't on the device yet, they're coming soon. Most reviews of it show off mainly the PCVR side of it, they aren't playing native games. Immersed is on it though, which is nice, I thought I'd have to wait for that but I thought Bigscreen would be on it.
@exodous02 From what I've seen, it has pretty capable standalone specs. It has a better cooled version of the Quest 2's XR2 chip, and one person online claims it performed similarly to the Quest Pro's XR2 Plus chip in testing. Hopefully it'll be a popular enough headset that developers will port stuff over. It seems very promising for both PCVR and standalone, so I don't understand why they're focusing on just PCVR. Of course, Meta bought out so many game developers that I'm not sure half the games could even be ported over if the developers wanted to, but still.
I'm still waiting on my pre-ordered headset. Meanwhile, reviews are starting to pop up on Amazon, and they are not good. I'm starting to feel a little apprehensive about the whole thing.
Just got mine and eh, I don't know if I have a funny shaped head or what but above my eyes, my forehead presses the face interface and it disconnects on the bottom. Also, the sides aren't blocking light out at all. Also, the sides of the lenses are really blurry. One reason I got this is the Quest 2 has a 'sweet spot', right in the center that is clear and then the sides are blurry. This seems to be just as bad. I have a feeling mine was rejected and returned though because the lenses were really dirty and the IPD adjustment seems really janky. I think one lens isn't is a little off from the other one. The IPD adjustment on my Index is great, but this one one eye looks good but the other one is horrible. not as good as I thought it was going to be.
No you're spot on. This is a steaming pos. The fit of this is designed for a very specific head shape. I get a very bad glare on my lenses. The image does not compare to the quest pro at all. This is an immediate return for me
@@substatica i hope you enjoy it at least! I got a quest pro when the price dropped and meta has been doing a lot of building and breaking on the software but it's overall very good.
Got mine yesterday and am a bit disappointed. It is indeed super light but I am getting eye strain. The displays are way behind my quest pro. If I had never experienced the quest pro I think this headset would be fine. I like it better than the quest 2 but at this point I think it’s going back to HTC.
Looks super cool spec wise, can't wait to see this in action!
I've never owned a non Meta headset. What's the app store like for HTC? Would I be losing a lot of Meta games if I switched?
I haven't seen the store yet. My feelings are that this headset will be mostly for wireless PCVR. Meta has the stand-alone market pretty nailed.

6:42 it looks like the quest 2 big brother, the controllers I meant.

It's an interesting form factor. But it needs a lot more worked out. I don't think it is a good value proposition at this point.
@substatica have you done a full review of the xr elite yet?

I agree with what you're saying. My experience has not been great so far.

I can’t afford this 😢
People can barley pay the light bill this dude be playing every VR and all the top titles lol
Don't buy it.. QP is better. But yeah still too expensive.
Who needs lights when you've got VR? Seriously though between this and the PSVR2 the channel will be operating in the red for a while.
