I think it is important to understand that if you have a brand new pixel with 0 purchases that it is not the correct event to optimize for because there is no data stored in the event, a lot of people don't have a clue about taking the correct steps, with a new pixel run traffic so you can grow the pixel data as quick as possible when you have 200 ad to carts then you should start running conversion campaigns optimizing for add to cart when you have 200 initiate checkouts or at least 150 should you optimize for that and finally when you have at least 20 or 30 purchases in the last 28 days then yes you should finally optimize for purchase, if you have a new pixel and start going for conversion from day one is totally the wrong thing to do, you always want to grow some data as the algorithm needs data in the pixel event to have something to work with.

I used "purchase" as my conversion event and i got 2 sales from the campaign and they cost about $24 to acquire each purchase. I spoke with someone on a fb ads team and they said to use view content. Why do you think they said that?

  • @julianoviedo
    @julianoviedo 4 роки тому +2

    Ben, awesome video!
I've come across a term called "seasoning the pixel" which entices us to go back in the funnel and nourish a conversion event higher on it, i.e. If not getting enough purchases, go back to Initiate Checkout, or Add to Cart, or Lead...
And then when having enough data (conversions) for that event, we can now upscale to the next one lower in the funnel, until reaching Purchase.
Apparently it's a faster and safer way to get the right people to purchase.
I would love to read your comments on this, please.
    Kind regards from Mexico!

Yes I'm not a big fan of that term or of the logic behind it. I have done that in the past and you end up with loads of Add To Carts but very few purchases.

Hey, Ben. Thanks for all of the videos, they really help. Hope you read old comments :)
I have a question. In one of your videos you said, that if a website's pixel is not set up or not working proprely - you advise to use traffic campaigns for generating sales. But here you say, that facebook might still be able to show ads to "better" people, even if there's no pixel, but you still choose purchase conversions. So which one would be better - a traffic campaign to get better reach or to blindly do a purchase conversion campaign?
Running a physical and online shop - outdoors/camping/hiking/survival/hunting. Ad budget (a day) around 10-20 euros for constant e-shop ads, ¬30 euros a day for a flash-sale, for example.
    Thanks again, keep it up!

No pixel installed, never did any facebook campaign, that´s where I will come in to help them out. The furthest I can go on event tracking is the bid, for which I intend to use as a conversion event to optimize Facebook campaigns for. That been said, I thought of using the addToWishList event for the bid and save the Purchase for the future, when they will intend to implement the online purchase. What dou you reckon? Oh no I wish I'd watched this video sooner! I have a conversions campaign with an Initiate Checkout objective for a course that begins soon on March 15. What do you think I should do? I'm afraid to reset the learning phase with my short timeline. I launched the campaign 5 days ago following the setup advice from your other videos, and I initially set the conversions objective to Purchases and made one $450 sale in the first 48 hours with budget set at $50/day, then I increased the budget to $100/day and changed the conversions objective from Purchases to Initiate Checkout, thinking it would give FB more data to go with in its learning phase. Now the campaign has 6 initiate checkouts and 0 additional purchases, and is still in the learning phase. I see from this video that I may have screwed it up a good thing. Do you think I should change the objective back to purchases even though it'll reset the learning phase again?

Hey there I’m hoping you could possibly give some advice and insight on three specific questions.
Since post IOS as you’re already aware has caused data loss in ad reporting.
To address this I’m using CAPI which I hired someone on Upwork to help me set up using google tag manager for events to be sent through a server as well as my browser.
Which has worked to send all of my events including purchase events to Facebook.
But the problem is, even though Facebook is receiving the purchase events which I can see being tracked in the events manager…
For some reason only some of my purchase events are being reported back as conversions in the ads manager, and I’m not able to get accurate data to know which campaign or ad set the sales are coming from.
So with that said I have some quick questions I’m hoping you can help me with…
    1) Is there anything else I may have missed that is causing Facebook to be unable to link the purchase events to the ads in the ads manager reporting?
    2) Does running ads without the data being picked up properly by Facebook “dumb down” the Facebook AI resulting in an impact to all my ads and future ads I run?
    3) How do you determine to scale the correct ad sets when not sure which ad sets are doing well due to data not being received accurately in Facebook?

Hey Ben, I'm a marketer by trade but don't have experience building campaigns from the ground up. I've recently started helping out a friends small business and you've been incredibly helpful! Here's my question for you on this - the business I'm working on has high value, low quantity products. We might not even have 50 units available for certain products. Do you think it still makes sense to target purchasing? I want to make sure I'm able to share info with my partners about who our target market is and what their buying behavior looks like, but I'm wondering if this is too small a sample size to justify a lot of ad spend.

Hello, setting up my 1st conversion campaign, using WooCommerce.
    Ok, a couple of questions...
    - I started with a Traffic Campaign (that's supercharged with an engagement campaign going to the same ad), it's getting about 50 sales / week.
    - Should I allow that Traffic campaign to continue? This way it will help feed the pixel and get more data for the conversion event.
    - If I do that, I presume I should use the same post ID from the traffic ad, yes? (it's got a lot of great engagement). Vs starting a new ad from scratch.
    - Last question, how should I split my budget now? I have allocated about $50/day to the traffic and $40/day to the conversions ($90/day is a lot). But I'm afraid of lowering the traffic ad budget and Facebook algo not liking that, lol.
    Thanks in advance!

Make sense now that I need to use just Purchase event if I want purchases and ATC for ATC etc. I Have a question though, so when I selected Purchase as my event, my Conversion is saying that I may end up with 0 Purchases, is that even important? Should I still go for it eventhough it's saying I may end up with zero purchases, eventhough I entered a high daily budget?

    Thanks!

Yes you can but make sure it changes to green once you have generated a purchase - otherwise your Pixel could be installed incorrectly.

Hey! I have a questions about this and general service based ads. I have IPTV reselling(television over internet, simply i buy 10 credits for 40$ then i sell them for around 60$) "business"..I don't have website yet, so I use my facebook page for selling service. What is best marketing objective for my business ? I used messages for weeks now and it's not very effective.. I offer 48h free test so many of them just send message to take that free test.. Usually 1 of 15 customers actually buy service, and i got only around 1.5$..Also is there any better marketing method ?

    • @BenHeath
      @BenHeath  4 роки тому

In your situation I would probably use messages. If it hasn't worked for you I don't think it's the campaign objective that's the issue. It's most likely other parts of your campaign.

Hey Ben, thanks for this video. Still, i have a question: what would you do in this case: local business selling kitchens 20-30k no discounts allowed, the potential reach is about 80.000-100.000 people, i did the targeting as you described, letting it very vague. Conversion Campaign optimized for Leads. BUT i just get about 1-2 Leads per week, should i stick to a conversion campaign or switch to a traffic campaign? The audience is pretty small. Or maybe the ads are not that good. It is difficult to advertise if no discounts allowed, i cant figure out a good enough hook to catch the people. Hope you have a solution for me. Thanks Ben for all your great content!!😁👍🏻

I've just watched your video about comparing add to cart with purchase. Then I've watched this one and I'm confused. In one you say it is big mistake to use add to cart even if there is little purchase events on website and in second you say it's better to use add to cart when there is not enough purchases because it's better to have fully optimised add to cart campaign than not optimised purchase campaign. Two totally different statements from the same author.

Right now I am using Lead Generation campaign but I noticed that the leads on this were not that good. I already used a customer list and created a custom audience and lookalike audience for this campaign. Now, I am planning to build my website, does Conversion campaign be a better choice or traffic campaign. Of course, my goal is to get more quality leads. Which of these works best for me based on my goal. Thanks Ben!
