I know it's not trendy, but I am such a fan of "closed concept." I like my spaces having their places! The thing that sold me on our current home is our huge grand waste-of-space formal entry and library with fireplace to one side and large dining room to another. Although we don't use those spaces often, when we do it's completely necessary! I can easily accommodate 14 people at our dining room table and I love it

My mom did everything herself for home, designing and decorating. She also had long blonde hair and adorable. She’s 75 and still goes all out with decorating and designing her home. Your remodel ideas for the dining entry are spot on and will add beautiful aesthetic to your home. I also believe it will be much more functional and will increase the value of your new home. We all loved the victorian house and understand that it was hard to leave behind all that charm, but you can add a lot of that back into this house with your improvements. Both homes are beautiful in their own ways and having all the extra space as your children grow is a big plus. God bless you and your family!

Hey Lauren! Love the video. I think your idea for a dining room is awesome. Great use of space. I do have a question! Where is your office? I know during the original home videos you showed that your youngest son was going to use the office as a bedroom. But in this video, it looked like your office is in an actual room. Where is it located?
Be careful with your hair until you get the water filtration system! It can turn orange. Not kidding. Hard water is a nightmare on blond hair. I had it happen!

Yaaassss for the formal dining room addition and formal entry way! You have the space utilize it. I agree paint the kitchen and see where it goes in the future. When it comes to home improvements, it’s never a hard no unless it’s structural, but, that too can be remedied.

It would be beautiful if you put a pony wall with large columns as you enter the livingroom. And open the wall for a dinning room. I love your long vlogs. As soon as I see your name poop up I stop what I am watching and go to your channel. Once you get it fixed like you want to the house you will feel like it’s home. Love the door and lights. I did something similar. I painted my door a dark grey and I ordered a front entry way light. The door made such a difference :) it's dark but somehow it looks brighter.

Our house was built in 1960. Our basement steps come up into the kitchen, and I absolutely hate it. So, we are going to remodel the kitchen/dining area and I'm closing off the basement stairway, but the way it's configured, I can make a laundry room/pantry, so that's the plan. The door looks fantastic! I am going to repaint my kitchen cabinets too, and I'm planning to use the Beyond Paint for that. I can't wait to get started, we're also realigning the kitchen cabinet configuration. It's a project. I've actually considered starting a UA-cam channel using the remodel as a starting point. Might still do that, not sure yet, lol!
Great video. Lots of things getting done. I love your new home, but all those extra windows high up and the ones under the kitchen cabinets bother me for some reason. You did a great job decorating seeing how awkward the rooms are in the front of the house. Will be nice see to the alterations you are thinking of doing. That chandelier is gorgeous. I bet the light coming through that will be fantastic. That home has good bones. Good to see you are making it your own for your family and yourself. Always need to tweak things to make them comfortable to fit in there. I am staying in hotels right now, looking for a new apt. Cannot seem to find one that fits my needs. Keep working on it. Honestly Lauren, with such a nice size living room, I would make your family room a beautiful dining room. To have a fireplace in a dining room is so lovely and it's all right there beside your kitchen. I would put your tv in the living room and it's fine the way your front door comes in, keep cozy carpeting in your living room and with the different tile or if you changed to wood it designates the foyer area. I think you need the extra garage storage and I think with your nice large bonus room on your second floor you just may not need that family room by your kitchen. Otherwise I just love your other ideas and DIY's, loving the black banisters and black front door and your kitchen painting will be beautiful. We have the very same kitchen lights and I love them. Good luck with all your decisions......whatever you do will be perfect.
is it a load bearing wall? Is the garage insulated? Do a computerized mock up first. The pony wall may make the small living room claustrophobic. Please check with an architect and a building or structural engineer first. It’s probably all doable but your ideas (including raising the roof) may cost almost as much as the house. Are you required to have a structural inspection in earthquake areas of California? One step at a time. You have the ability to may any house a home. You have beautiful style, lots of creativity and work very hard to make your home quite lovely. Your children just had to move and adapt to their new environment. Do you really want them to live in a work zone for the next two years? Labor and building materials are hard to come by and very expensive right now. Take this winter to relax and get used to your new surroundings. You have mentioned several times that you are having a bit of a hard time decorating your new spaces. It’s all a learning curve. Give yourself time. May you and your family have a cozy and comfortable holiday season. May the new year bring you professional success and personal happiness. Make the time for joy in your life.

I'm Mexican and grey up heating them on the stove my whole life. Recently I had friends stay with me and they just made tacos without heating them. Also my family eats more corn than flour. We use flour for burritos and quesadillas but corn for tacos. Anyway. I'm going to save my selve a step and not heat them them up and see how I like it 😊

Two years ago we moved into a 1970’s tract home in a great neighborhood that was so in need of help it was a total gut job! My husband is very handy so we spent our time stuck at home during covid to completely update it. It finally feels like home. Next year we are landscaping!

I’ve remodeled. 8 of my own homes. Built from 67 to late 80’s. I made them all look like an old traditional home with woodwork. Lots of woodwork !!!!!! And hardwood flooring everywhere. You have the right ideas for sure. It CAN be done.

I think her house looks beautiful. Not really sure why they have the large living room and then the smaller one. I do prefer the smaller one, it's so cozy with the tv on and the christmas trees, perfect space to read!
I love all the Christmas trees I've seen around the house! It's all very over the top but I like that about her videos. I wouldn't be able to do so much (because I only have a flat) but all the festive cheer is amplified when I see her decor.

Wow really nice. Well let me tell you. My house was the. Same situation and one room was next to the kitchen and next to the garage. We open a big French door and built a wall by the garage. And now it’s a extra room that the house has. Super nice. Yes make the change it will look. Beautiful ❤️❤️❤️

Have you tried pure castor oil for your brows? Or thought about getting them microbladed? After my Dad passed away my eyebrows actually fell out due to stress & castor oil saved my life!
90s kid right!? Lol I did the same....had those little tiny eyebrows back then and now in my late 30s I hardly have any eyebrow hairs 😅

Yes cut the wall for diningroom. Yes put up a pony wall n separate the entrance. I would even knock into your pantry as I think angled walls in ur family room always look awkward no matter how good ur decor is.

Moved into a tract home to accommodate our large family this past summer snd it's is dated. I've used beyond paint on our dated vanity in our master, our front door, and plan on using it on some counter tops I plan on replacing in the future but can't look at it any longer haha.

Absolutely put a wall in to create an entry hallway. I also am not a fan of houses that have the front door open straight into the living area of the house. That double height ceiling in an entry way would look amazing.
