Jeff at Irons One is very generous with his time and listening to him talk about distilling craft is a great way to spend the afternoon. I have tried his bourbon at cask strength, it is sublime.
I was on a wine trail tour in NY State. One of the places also did distillations somehow. I tasted a vodka after hearing the quick pitch about it. I liked it and asked some innocent question. The person who poured for us grabbed the distiller so I could get a better answer. Wow. What an answer. Turns out the guy was a former chemical engineer with great passion about his craft. I must have asked a "smart" question, because I got a long extended answer in quite technical terms. But now I know why his vodka didn't give me shoulder shudder the same way cheap domestic vodkas do. (Something about that's what happens when you distill it more than 2 or 3 times.).
Thank you all for these videos guys. I used to be a big time Rum and Bourbon drinker, but have now entered into the scotch world thanks to you all. Took me so long because of my thinking that all scotches are peat bombs. I have a 1.75ML of Monkey Shoulder ($60) to cheers you all with. Keep it up!
Daniel, my dude. I LOVE that recognize the greatest Sherlock Holmes actor ever, Jeremy Brett!!! I have ALL of those episodes on DVD and even have a portrait of him portraying Homes in front of the address 221b, in my study.
Rex, you're so right on the peat and hops comparison. When I'm home, it doesn't matter if I'm drinking Lagavulin or the most mildly peated Oban or Highland Park, my mom can't even sit next to me. She catches a whiff and gags. She thinks I'm poisoning myself. What she doesn't know is now I drink it around her intentionally because it's delicious and it pisses her off. It's a win win
Agreed, my favorite beer is their Stout at the Devil. Awesome...but I agree with the Whiskey Somm when it comes to hops. Some things, like whiskey and hops, just should not mix. What a pickle🤓
Thanks for the great content gents! I'm about 10mins from Tobacco Barn. . . was nice to see the product featured! They offer other distillate as well; rums being the most popular in the local area. I think their bourbon is constantly getting better and have had the chance to try the cask strength. Maybe I'll send a newer batch in the months to come. Cheers.
The Jumanji 2020 curse must have ended yesterday (Friday March 12th 2021) I found a bottle of buffalo trace, a bottle of eagle rare, a 4 pack of green river soda, and pokemon cereal for the Nephew's...it may have been some sort of Unicorn sorcery.
Rex and Daniel, you gotta review all those japanese black bottles asap before April 11th when the Japanese whiskey rules kick in and deem it not japanese whiskey.
Glad to see some Alabama distilleries doing a good job. Bought the Dettling cask strength after seeing your review on it and loved. The fact that it's made in my home state just makes it that much better.
*reads Hated Tastes card* *sees third-wave ska listed for no good reason* *horn section intensifies* PICKITUPICKITUPICKITUPICKITUPICKITUPICKITUPICKITUPICKITUPICKITUPICKITUP YOU WILL LEARN THE ERRORS OF YOUR WAYS, WHITTINGTON!
It would be really great if you can add pics of the food you are smelling and tasting in the whisky so someone like me can relate lol. A big fan of you guys.
How does Daniel hate third-wave ska?! How does one listen to "Sunday Morning" by No Doubt or "The Impression That I Get" by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and not just get absolutely hyped??
I know that wild turkey 101 isn’t even mentioned in this video. But lately I’ve been getting a sherry note on the nosing of wild turkey and I can’t make any sense of it for the life of me. It’s not there on the taste whatsoever but some element of the nose is reminding me of a sherried whiskey. Have any of y’all ever experienced that?
" Daniel, you can't escape my straight up wood pickle!!!!" Oh Rex, you are such a shennaigan maker! p.s. Hey, Emma's got back into the vault! I love that game!
I would not have thunk that Rex could be a Babs fan (Barbra Streisand). Any chance then that we can "mash" whiskey content with pop/jazz/showtunes content?
Hey guys, you did a toast when my youngest was born. Ivar is turning 3 today so for 3 years i watched all episodes. Time goes fast! Rex, did you tasted the dalmore king Alexander yet? Keep up the magnificent work! Cheers for The Netherlands.
Hi Guys, Ive been watching you for a couple months & really enjoy the info & content a lot. I would LOVE a quick comment about Corked Bottles if you have time... I am very familiar with the TCA Taint issue in Wines but i never see anything about it with Whiskeys. I ask because i recently finally found a Red Spot and there is no doubt in my mind that is badly corked, nothing but old wet moldy cardboard & damp newspaper smells with a bitter old flavor. And as if that wasnt bad enough, i then opened a Redbreast Lustau a few days later & it seems corked as well (albeit not AS bad), wet carboard & moldy raw peanut shells. Ive probably opened 80+ whiskeys over the last few years & these are the only 2 i ever had this issue with. So, i know with wines you can often get the winery or store to replace the bad bottle but is that a thing with whiskies? I asked the store i bought the Red Spot from & the guys just laughed at me as if i was crazy for thinking "the cork" could be bad (which was their assumption & not at all what i said to them).
Daniel if you really have GERD I sympathize with you. I had GERD due to gallstone causing me to throw up my guts constantly living hell. Feels like your scraping your inside on the cement sidewalk. You start to fear food wondering what might make you throw up🤮 . I finally had surgery to remove my gal-bladder. Pain went away all is better. Good luck to you stay thirsty
I say you do a serious analysis of a fair market value for internet opinions and issue those invoices. How brave are you? Negative values are possible.
"You cannot escape my straight-up wood pickle"
"Everyone loves my straight-up wood pickle"
- Rex 2021
The straight-up pickle is inevitable.
Yep he's straight up trolling at this point
FANCY DAN need a raise !!!! Swap Rex for Fancy Dan ..... since REX is no more a mooch but a High proof Whiskey Hipster
"The Hated Tastes of One Daniel Whittington"
You have been given my like of approval because you called Rex a “High-Proof whiskey hipster”
Yay Emma!
I see the laphroaig again
*shakes fist* EMMA
I know. The joke was fun at first, now it just becomes annoying.
I see it too............ because............there's Laphroaig in my glass right now
Emma doing the Lord's work.

Jeremy Irons is also the voice of Scar from the Lion King... More villainy.
Fancy Dan strikes again with the amazing editing. Great job! Oh, and I guess good job Daniel and Rex for... that one thing.... Cheers!
I LOVE resurgent Bourbon I've had over 6 bottles this year.
Boy it's amazing - glad you guys liked it!
Great juice and great conversation with Mr. Irons.
Fancy Dan on point with this one 🤣

Unpeated scotch is like non-alcoholic beer 😂😂
I live down the road a few miles from Brandywine Branch. A lovely bistro and variety of tasty spirits. Glad you enjoyed their Whiskey.
And I’ll mention to them the issue with the bourbon and rye descriptions on their site
Hey Chester county local. I have been drinking resurgent for a year or so now, had no idea they ended up on whisky tribe. Proud to be from the area!
GOOD MORNING YOU MB'S... 🥃... TGIF
Thank you Emma. Thank you.
I literally lol'd at the list of things Daniel hates!
Daniel, my dude. I LOVE that recognize the greatest Sherlock Holmes actor ever, Jeremy Brett!!!
I have ALL of those episodes on DVD and even have a portrait of him portraying Homes in front of the address 221b, in my study.
Yes, yes, yes by far the best.
That "Medieval" cork is the Maryland design from their flag - you will see the same type of design on the University of Maryland Football Helmets etc.
Love how Daniel is _surrounded_ by whiskey, and still struggles to find something to drink
Glad I'm not the only one that found the irony/humor in that.....
the Irons One distiller WILL definitely talk your ears off.
4:00 Field Trip to Iron's One Distillery? I'd LOVE a Tribe video talking to that guy!
Rex, you're so right on the peat and hops comparison. When I'm home, it doesn't matter if I'm drinking Lagavulin or the most mildly peated Oban or Highland Park, my mom can't even sit next to me. Happy RWF
lol I got an ad for the Mormon church before this video.
🤣🤣
knock knock knock
Good Morning Gentlemen.
Sam Strausbaugh, great find. Way to bring the PA product. Have seen it on the shelf, but have not tried. Will have to look for it now!
Cheers to my baby girl Summer born Friday afternoon!
Always happy to see a juice out of Alabama. We have good craft beer but we don’t often distill
"Third wave ska" and "most films" fucking killed me
The cloudier it is the better it is.
WHAT IS THAT MAGNIFICENT PAINTING IN THE BACKGROUND AT 58 SECONDS?
I was wondering the same thing lol
In defense of Straight to Ale, they make some mighty fine beer. But I've never had a desire to try their distilled products.
Agreed, my favorite beer is their Stout at the Devil. Awesome...but I agree with the Whiskey Somm when it comes to hops. Some things, like whiskey and hops, just should not mix. What a pickle🤓
@@johnheaton822 Bourbon barrel laika
Daniel walks through the vault to find something to drink.... can’t find anything. Lol
Cheers to your straight up pickle.
Great to see a compiled list of Daniel’s hated things. What a great list too
Thanks for the great content gents! I'm about 10mins from Tobacco Barn. . . was nice to see the product featured! They offer other distillate as well; rums being the most popular in the local area. As a 80's kid, third wave ska is an important part of my childhood. How dare you, you Gen-Xer!
Sounds like you gentlemen need to take a road trip to Huntsville Alabama and chew the cud with Jeffery Irons. Film it and report back please.
Interesting that the whiskey Daniel was excited to try was already opened... but other bottles today weren't preopened... 😉

Jeff at Irons one is a great guy believes in his product. Like many ex Nasa workers will talk your hear off but that's a lot of people in Huntsville.
Give Fancy Dan a raise for the Hated Tastes
After seeing the hated tastes lists I do not believe I can trust your opinions anymore. We had a good run.
Balloon knot?! Seriously?!
I laughed my A off! Good sneak in there right as you rolled into pickle jokes.
That was not lost on me
Daniel better protect his balloon knot while Rex is running around with a straight up wood pickle
YAY! Emma’s back.
Laphroaig.. she's at it again!
Rex's straight up wood pickle is inevitable
That list of tastes is awesome!
The List of things Daniel Hates at 14:05 had me laughing like an idiot in my office. My boss was less impressed with it.
It would be really great if you can add pics of the food you are smelling and tasting in the whisky so someone like me can relate lol. A big fan of you guys.
I bought a bottle of Big Peat Christmas 2015 the other day. It was delicious.
The Tobacco Barn sticker is part of the Maryland state flag.
How does Daniel hate third-wave ska?! How does one listen to "Sunday Morning" by No Doubt or "The Impression That I Get" by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and not just get absolutely hyped??
'Unknown Mashbill' would make a cool band name
Daniel also hates pickles... straight up wood pickles...
Very informative as always
Emma comes through again😀
EMMA!!!
@15:28
When it’s you’re 14th whiskey of the day and it’s only 11:00 am
Always a pleasure, gents!

That merkin looks good on you Daniel.
There’s that damn Laphroig on the wall😂😂
Daniel sounds so depressed looking for the water
Emma strikes again.
Can we have a day of the week that is dedicated to Daniel tasting things he hates?? Lol
That maryland bit got me busting up
guess who's back, back again...Emma's back. tell a friend! :-)
" Daniel, you can't escape my straight up wood pickle!!!!" Oh Rex, you are such a shennaigan maker! p.s. Hey, Emma's got back into the vault! I love that game!
I love 1876 had it for the first time in euless, TX
I would not have thunk that Rex could be a Babs fan (Barbra Streisand). Any chance then that we can "mash" whiskey content with pop/jazz/showtunes content?
Have you ever thought of mentioning the state that these MB ‘s are from ?
Hey guys, you did a toast when my youngest was born. Ivar is turning 3 today so for 3 years i watched all episodes. Time goes fast! Rex, did you tasted the dalmore king Alexander yet? Keep up the magnificent work! Cheers for The Netherlands.
top 10, all time best for me
That is the Maryland state flag on the top of the cork
You should have guest, honorary Mooches. I nominate myself as the first.
I’ll be second! I’ll bring a Minnesota whiskey!
Huntsville, I work right next to it, nice. Cheers!
Lol you work at Lowe Mill…
I love Big Peat. Have you ever tried the annual Christmas edition? Always a fun adventure!

Do you all recommend any good light whiskeys? And could you do a show on light whiskey? Thanks
14:50 and beyond made my shite morning better, thank you
Daniel if you really have GERD I sympathize with you. I had GERD due to gallstone causing me to throw up my guts constantly living hell. Feels like your scraping your inside on the cement sidewalk. I'M PICKLE REX!!!!!
Daniel's issues with hops have reached the point where he is now deserving of -2 points
Man, it would be awesome to hang out and drink with you guys.
Your attempt to know where Jeremy Irons is from hurts me a little inside lol
Ninja strike!
Daniel and Rex know a thing or two about pickle smorgasbord...
I say you do a serious analysis of a fair market value for internet opinions and issue those invoices. How brave are you? Negative values are possible.
You guys rally need to interview or collab with the Irons One guy
Rex would be perfect to play santa claus
Wouldn’t that be a barrel pickle? LOL
Where's the water when you need it?
The hated tastes of one DW had me 🤣🤣🤣
Daniel got all depressed after the hops one lol is it really that bad
