Imagine biting into a perfectly cooked Swedish Meatball, with its tender and juicy texture and rich, smoky flavor that fills your senses. This dish is not only popular but also loved by many across the world. To recreate this mouth-watering delicacy, start by using free-range beef to form a Viking meatball patty, then shape smaller meatballs and cook them over an open fire, allowing the flames to work their magic and infuse the meatballs with a distinct smoky aroma. It's no surprise that the iconic IKEA Swedish meatballs are based on this recipe, which has captured the hearts of many food enthusiasts. And, to elevate the flavor of these meatballs, it's best to pair them with a homemade brew, which perfectly complements the dish. Give this recipe a try and experience the authentic taste of Swedish Meatballs.

They are actually based on a recipe the exiled King Charles XII brought Sweden from Ottoman Empire in the early 18th century along with other recipes such as dolma (stuffed vegetables).
No, it´s not.

To balance the comments, yes and no and sort of :)
Let's just say that they were inspired by things learned during the Viking travels. Kåldolme is definitely inspired by the Turkish counterpart but made with Swedish produce, meatballs is a somewhat different dish than how it's done in Turkey and farther out east. If you look to the historical records it might just as well be the case that Turkey was inspired by the Vikings. We'll never know for sure! What we do know though is that it's meat, it's good!. Let's enjoy it, preferably together!

Looks amazing, there's just one ingredient that I didn't notice used that is a must for me in swedish meatballs, Worcestershire sauce.
swedish meatballs using a british sauce....
@@malcolm3196 Yes, not an original ingredient but, in my opinion, a necessary one.
@@malcolm3196 Im a Brit, and live in Sweden and I’ve seen a lot of interpretations of Swedish Meatballs, some do include Worcestershire sauce. Swedes are a bit more chill when it comes to “authentic” cuisine, unlike, let’s say the Italians
@@wickywills depends on the situation tbh.
For holidays like xmas im gonna stay traditional, but most time of the year i might throw in anything i feel like
Havnt used worshestershire or however its spelled.
My favourite non traditional is sweet chili sauce.
But then i dont call it swedish meatballs anymore🤣

I have a question how do you make sure the meat ball won't fall apart before you cook it ?
The eggs act as a binder which holds them together.
Je tuerais pour vivre cette expérience avec des gens biens!
so they became mercenaries of Byzantine's emperor and bring back meatballs with them.
But how did they invent all those quality furnitures? in truth.. they pay good attention to surroundings, taking note of emperor's royal room.
Super Super Super
You should try it with horse meat. Horse is really tasty.
To je to🙏🇷🇸
Bio u Ikea pre neki dan i jeo te cuftice ali realno su bzvz, ništa bolje od domaće 😁
But did you grind the beef?
Viljuška! Buc, buc.
Кто в мире не любит шведские фрикадельки?! :-)))
I'd love to eat meatballs in the forest.
Dude, that’s K-18 material right there.
Hmm Vikings didn't invent these though.. They most probably originated from the Turkish/Ottoman meatballs .
😍👍
Шмат сливочного, да плошка сметаны... Ёще бы это не было вкусно) Ты ещё икры сверху добавь)))
No Vikings...:)
👍❤️
But that didn't answer the question, how did Vikings create Swedish meatballs??
Wait.... The Vikings had wonder bread?
😋😋💚💚
А где пюрешка ?
King Charles XII of Sweden brought the meatballs back from Turkey in 18th century.
You are absolutely correct.
Ah damn. I just commented that as a fun fact but it seems others know this as well.
vikings did not invent meatbals. turks did
Exactly 👍🏻 I don’t think vikings knew what ground meat is. And you can see in their history, feasting is always about drinking ale from horns and holding a big bone with a chunk of beef or lamb and eat it. So I don’t think they know what ground beef is. Otherwise, Kebab would be Nordic and not Turkish.
swedish meatballs has nothing to do with vikings. it was created centuries later, and in those times vikings were long gone. it arrived to sweden via ottoman empire, and is based on turkish meatballs.
Vikings from North 🛡⚔️🛡

Are your videos made in Serbia or somewhere else? Absolutely beautiful.
The pristine wilderness of Serbia is truly beautiful... I could imagine David Attenborough saying.. and here's Boki in his natural habitat carefully preparing a meal... notice how he wets his hands before rolling the meatballs!... But seriously thanks for uploading, it looks delicious.

Hmm mr Almazankitchen. I MUST say that the IEA meetbolls is FAR from Swedeish meetballs. I an a Swedish 68 year old woman and I have nerver heard of Nutmeg in the meetballs. NO NO NO. The meet: 77% poork and 25% Beef meelt. freied onion, Salt, pepper egg and fat crem. I sometimes take 1-2 sponfull Dijongmustard. For Christmas you could have some allspice. But the vikings have not so much meetballs!!! 💙💙💛💛💜💜💚💚
the meatballs are inviting, but lets not give the orcs of mordor any ideas about building an actual ikea over there and start the gentrification of our wonderful little shire LOL! how about another unique appetizer instead? may i suggest _chicken-fried frogs legs with garlic sauce?_ *i still maintain my steadfast vigil to the sprites of the magical forest that they might see fit to grant my humble request* 🙏🏼🙇🏽♂️
